Hi Mr. Pipes. Those things you indicated as relays, might be relays of a sort but it looks like that's the surge protection. MOV's with GDT's or some sort of thermal overload protection. The reason I mention this at all is that on the display it mentions "Remaining MOV's". MOV's age poorly with repeated surges and can fail outright on big/lightning surges. That's their design, to be sacrificial. So this unit, when one fails the next takes over and the count would go down to Remaining MOV's 4. Which is pretty cool. Ideally the homeowner shouldn't have to concern themselves with this cause they will call Mikey Pipes for a yearly checkup. But, the homeowner should be aware of the need to check yearly and after big thunderstorms or blackouts and call Mikey Pipes when it gets down to 1. 😄

There is a black wire on the right side of that relay/ transformer that is bare and un-terminated and could come into contact with the board or other contacts. If it isn't required tape it up and secure out of harms way. Just trying to protect your investment of time and lost finger nail.

Great installation! Not sure where it is code and not, but ACs here have the disconnect near also. I think the desperate disconnect is still a good idea because if ever that box does take a hit and absorbs a surge and you need to replace it, nice to have the disconnect beside it.

In Seattle, the inspectors will call us if we use corrugated tubing for the condensate we have to use three-quarter inch PVC or else they will fail us on inspection. It totally sucks specially, if you’re trying to put multiple lines in a piece of 4 inch line cover

I really hate Fujitsu the boards are tough to replace and they’re tech support blows!!! But I like Mikey pipes!! Diaken and carrier along with Mitsubishi is where it’s at for mini splits. I’ve also had some issues with that EZ pull white line set, not sure if you’re using the same kind that I’ve used but after a few years some chemical in the insulation reacts with water and starts making micro pinholes in the copper.

Good job Mike, I don't really have an opinion on the surge protection for Air conditioning, but I usually put in whole house surge protection for the house panel which also helps the whole house, I don't put in enough AC units to know the difference.

How do you feel about the "whole home units" that get wired to each leg of the Circuit breaker panel... The only downfall I know of, is that you have to monitor the lights on them... If you get a surge they have to be replaced

Mikey, R-410a DOES not hurt the ozone, R-22 had chlorine so it hurt the ozone. R-410a has a high GWP or "global warming potential" but it does not hurt the ozone.

CH₂F₂ + CHF₂CF₃ But the GWP is around 1800 . But 410a is going to be history just like 22 an 12 . R290 is soon going to be standard . I bet on it ! I am just waiting to see how they are going to convince insurance companies it is safe to install 🤣🤣 but it’s fast moving in the commercial end I haven’t seen it in residential (“ yet”) but it will happen! I actually like how it preforms other than the high flammability….

@@kat2641the stars and the planets really need to align for A2L refrigerants to combust and catch fire. Natural gas is still more flammable than A2L refrigerants. I personally doubt r290 would ever be used for residential heating and air conditioning though. I’m not a commercial tech, but from other videos I’ve seen on KZbin it seems like R290 is more for cabinet refrigerators and what not.

Mike, have you seen the tour of the Daikin plant in Texas? It is huge... ( /watch?v=NGmoLgqjUv8 ) Also strange that you are getting units from Malaysia. I remember that Malaysia usually serves the Asian market. While Daikin in the Czech Republic serves the EU. We also dont get R410 units since its phased out. Since 5-6 years we are only installing R32 units and soon R32 will be faced out for R290.

The Atmosphera R32 is also from Thailand. I saw it and I immediately know that it's gonna be Thai made. I believe only Thailand plant make this kind of looking unit at the moment. And my friend has one for like a year and a half, he's very impressed with it.

@@mikaelahyakuya3485 It seems that the US gets the units from all over the place. Also the names of these units change from continent to continent. For heat pumps our model (i am from the EU) is called "Altherma 3 R", I guess it is the same as your Atmosphera? We also have the "Altherma 3 M" which most Europeans prefer because of the better efficiency as it is three phase and mainly because of the modern look.

@@XTreMe2k6 Yes, the name is changed. Atmosphera (US name) is a mini split unit, in Thailand it's called Zetas. They are pretty same unit except no heat pump (since it's hot in every season in Thailand), smaller condensor and compressor, and microchannel coil condensor (in 15/18/24)
