Very interesting. Looking forward to the book. I was wondering about this topic recently. After seeing five petal roses and grapes on a tombstone.

Liked the lecture and the music. Are you by chance related to Gerry Lacy? I worked with him at Unemployment Insurance Canada in the seventies. He had some daughters, (3 or 4). Not sure if you're old enough, but you look a lot like him. You made me miss him. Even if you're not related, thank you.

@7:56 - or were the Navajo Nation geometric patterns perhaps influenced by the North African Berber (Tamazight) patterns which influenced Spain after the Umayyad conquest of Hispania?

How do we know these symbols were considered protective and used as such, versus being a symbol to show something important about the dead person, such as their belief system?
@robynlacy15263 жыл бұрын
Hi Heather! They are part of a group known as apotropaic symbols, which are carved into various objects with too much regularity to have just been informal decoration. On gravestones, they could have been something important to the person, you're right, but likely had a duel purpose, based on their history.

It is the same. It is an important belief to believe that an icon keeps us safe. So have faith.

She is saying "apotropaic". For some reason I thought I heard, "aperture-paic".

Using sacred geometry to deny any attempt of use of some ars goethia on the deceased spirit using the tombstone is necromancy 101.
