Off course eating more meat especially red meat and the associated fat and less plants if good, that's human's natural diet that's what shaped humans so yes eating a species appropriate diet is going to be healthier.

From an NPR article on grass fed beef: "Feedlot calves begin their lives on pasture with the cow that produced them. They're weaned after six to nine months, then grazed a bit more on pasture. They're then "finished" for about 120 days on high-energy corn and other grains in a feedlot, gaining weight fast and creating that fat-marbled beef that consumers like. At about 14 to 18 months of age, they are sent to slaughter. (One downside of the feedlot system, as we've reported, is that a diet of corn can lead to liver abscesses in cattle, which is why animals who eat it receive antibiotics as part of their feed.) In a grass-fed and finished scenario, cattle spend their entire lives on grass. Since their feed is much lower in energy, they are sent to slaughter later - between 18 to 24 months of age, after a finishing period, still on grass, of 190 days. Their weight at slaughter averages about 1,200 pounds compared with about 1,350 pounds for feedlot animals." I don't know if you have ever seen what a feedlot looks like, but it is generally appalling conditions for a cow. Also, feeding a cow that kind of diet is almost like force feeding a duck or goose to make foie gras. As for environmental considerations, I can't imagine that grass feeding could be worse than feedlots. For feedlot cattle, you would need to take into account all of the carbon emissions from growing the grain used to feed the cattle, which is responsible for a huge amount of emissions. The land use argument isn't simple either. A lot of the land used for grazing cattle is not easily usable for growing human food. I suspect that there is plenty of such grazing area since feedlot cattle start out on such grazing area anyway.

The problem with the vegan diet and lacto-ovo for that matter, is that it's hard to eat a lot of protein without getting too many carbs, at least if you want to stick to wole foods like me and do not want to eat superprocessed food.. anyway. No, the average American certainly doesn’t eat what the government recommends, but one airport isn’t evidence. In my experience, airports usually don’t have many or any places that sell whole foods. @@Diana-qp2rw Yes I agree I know it's a simple example but we have all kinds of studies, anecdotal examples, etc, of how poorly Americans eat and to say it has something to do with the old food pyramid or how the government tells people to eat... every informed or honest person knows that most of the American population never followed those guidelines. Not only that but its way easier to just say "bill gates" to explain things instead of looking where most of american gov subsidies go to and thats meat and dairy.

I want to point out one thing that you probably got wrong. The average caloric intake in the US is almost certainly not 3500 calories. The UN News article you cited kinda says that but I'm fairly certain that it refers to the "caloric supply" instead of the caloric intake. The caloric supply does not account for food waste at retail, restaurants or household levels, it represents the number of calories available for consumption not the actual consumption. If Americans actually ate 3500 calories that would probably amount to something like a 1000 daily caloric surplus resulting in 47kg of annual gain in body fat, which is obviously way to much. Actual data for how much people consume on a daily basis is way harder to come by and relies on surveys which are often inaccurate but it's safe to say that most people are not running huge caloric surpluses. That's just not how people get obese generally. They do so by slowly gaining weight over years or decades for which they only need a relatively small daily surplus of calories. It takes

The problem with ultra-processed foods is that most of them are hyperpalatable, defined as containing two of: high fat, high salt, high simple carb. Your breakfast croissant is hyperpalatable, and your slice of Wonder Bread may also be, but not flour or bread or oil per se, although they are processed. Your sausages are hyperpalatable. So is your steakhouse steak, because it is laced with salt. I did a natural N=1 experiment on myself. I can eat two or three handfuls of Jube Jubes (10mg-ish sodium per handful) and feel satisfied, and stop. But if I eat twizzlers (25mg per stick) I have difficulty stopping at less than half a pound, and I generally crave nuts or something proteiny even when I manage to stop.

12:00 the idea that they recommended "fiber: processed foods" is hilarious because most processed foods have quite a bit of fiber /s 14:00 there's a reason we don't find it as energy intensive to go to the store for a can of beans instead of growing them ourselves. Economies of scale are often more energy efficient.

The problem I have with the protein recommendation is that people are obese think they need a lot of protein from their body weight. This may be a problematic recommendation for a population with high rates of obesity.

She's like if Ben Shapiro and Russell Brand had a child. I don't get why this shrill frenetic gish galloping presentation style is so popular in the right wing media echosystem (sic), but it seems to be the archetype that is taking over the space by storm. See: Alex Jones, Russell Brand, and now this...

I was suffering from auto immune disease, diabetes, and severe fatigue and depression. I started a carnivore diet. After 8 months I am no longer taking any pills. My doctor was shocked that all my conditions were reversed. I no longer have any diabetes. And my autoimmune disease has been reversed. And no fatigue and no depression. Now i do eat thrle occasional fruit or veggies but carnivore diet is what cured me.

Carnivore isn't what cured you. A restriction diet removed the food that was causing you harm. Using your own logic all the people who got cured by only eating fruit makes it a legit and safe diet.

The comment about Ruff Greens? I don’t see how that’s a “gotcha”. If Brett Cooper is sponsored by both Good Ranchers and Ruff Greens, doesn’t that go to disprove any accusations of bias or of her opinion being bought and paid for? She’s been doing ads for both companies for a long time.
