Proton Therapy- A Typical Day

Here is my typical day receiving Proton Therapy for prostate cancer. I chose Proton Therapy over surgery or standard radiation treatment. I am not a doctor but after much research I could see how Proton Therapy offer many benefits over other treatments. Getting zapped by protons is painless but not without side effects. I will discuss those more in my next video.

Oh man... the spasm sensation is horrible when you gotta go! I always say I must have the bladder of a 3 year old because I feel like I have to pee ALL. THE. TIME. It comes on so urgently and it honestly feels like my bladder is vibrating if I have to hold it for long. Its so annoying too. Constantly on my mind whenever I go out somewhere, where the nearest toilets are. Theres no way I could drink the recommended 2 litres of water a day or I'd spend the entire day in the bathroom. 😅

It really does affect a lot of parts of daily life. My doctor at the Proton Center prescribed Flomax (tamsulosin) for me and it helps. Of course it has its own side-effects, so I take it just every-other-day. It is prescribed off-label for women as well- you might want to ask your doctor about it.

@@parristx doctors usually just class it as either part of fibro (irritable bladder) or part of autism/sensory processing. Interoception. But I'll ask again when I'm next able to see my doctor. Do you happen to know if any of the side effects are to do with the liver/kidneys?
