@@ShadowdaHedgie11 In terms of videogames, Donnie has always been the best Turtle, for his utility. Leonardo has always confused me though. As he should be physically more damaging with his hits than Raph or Mikey. But most games leave him decidedly average, in range and power.

@@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat When I wrote that comment, I considered being ridiculously specific about the fact that I'm talking about what John said, which is specific to this game (which uses only whole numbers) and specifically splitting in half, as John meant, but I thought: Nah, I don't need to do that. Man while your long series and twitch highlights are great, I don't know what it is, but I absolutely love these like 30 to 60 minute one off lp's on just random gameboy games. It's really cool to see some of these older games that I would've never played or seen before, and its a nice thing to kinda just sit back and unwind on a sunday night with. Would not mind seeing this become a common sunday schedule.

If I had to guess, while Donnie's staff seems to reach further than the others due to the attacking animation, all of the turtles probably have the same actual hitbox when they attack. It makes sense to make them all functionally identical so that you can pick your favorite rather than the best one, and it's an easy shortcut to take with the programming.

Yeah, that's my assumption too. You can see him hitting enemies from pretty far away at times in this LP, noticeably beyond the sprite's visible range. Like the section around 16:19

Something else to note, about the turtle popularity and expectation, I find Leo generally gets the short end of the bo staff when it comes to popularity in fans, usually because while the other three tend to get some easily definable traits among them, Leo just kind of gets stuck with "the leader" as his only defining trait, and even then depending on your writer that can vary between being an effective one or slightly egotistical, depending on who you ask, which series you watch, and so on. Generally speaking, since he's usually cast as so middle-of-the-road, poor Leo gets saddled with being the "boring" turtle for most.

And yeah, it's really cool that pretty much anyone in the last 30 years had a chance of growing up with the turtles. I don't remember actually beating it because I kinda stink at the game and those enemies in the last stage are annoying, but I also haven't played in over 9 years probably =p ...after seeing how easy Krang was, I'm a bit upset xD My biggest memory of this game is that it was my first introduction to that 'leave one left' game, so whenever I see it elsewhere I think of this game

The show had yet to show up in Japan by 1987, at the time only the Comics and toys had escaped North America. Which is funny, when the seasons made to that point were over at Toei. At the time one of Toei's other projects would take another six years to Kamehameha Beam on over.

As a dood who's seen plenty of Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist speedruns, players swear by Raph. Lowest health, but fastest movement speed and best special attack damage. I remember there being a chart showing the Turtles' individual stats for Turtles in Time: Mikey, of all people, has the best standard attack strength and health, while Donnie's slow-fall attack has the best damage. Leo is more middle of the road, but he gets a really fast back-attack to counter enemies that try to grab him.

Today's Cool Turtle Fact, inspired by the wet pizza comment! Real-life aquatic turtles cannot eat outside of water: they need water to wash down food. Even if they are given food out of water, they will retreat to the nearest source of water to swallow it. In that regard, depending on what kind of turtles the... Turtles... are, wet pizza may actually be better for them! (Please don't give real-life turtles pizza.)

A lot of Game Boy games were slower than their NES counterparts by design. The original model Game Boy had a serious problem with ghosting, and the slower speeds helped mitigate that.

So this is what you meant by this message (thought it was in reference to onlyachatter’s TMNT II Pizza Time remix): (To GokaiOrange and Greg Cipes, Mikey’s VA in TMNT 2012): “YOOO! Thank you so much dude! Also, your timing is impeccable, hahaha.” 4:33 Couple minutes into this minigame, and I have to say, Master Splinter staring at me for this long is really making me uncomfortable… 5:17 I would think some multiple of five so that it’s a fairly even spread of minigames across all five stages. So the full pizzas are Personal sized. That, or those are some really big slices. 12:14 Donny’s always had the best range in just about every game he’s in, right? Bo staff’s all about that reach and distance. At least though there’s no real separate stats unlike with Turtles in Time. 16:40 Also Jon had a lot of his own personal difficulties that contributed to some of the memes. One of his mods looked up a guide to a boss that Jon was having difficulty with, and the guy who wrote the guide said that it was so easy that he couldn’t be bothered with a detailed strategy and instead included a recipe for snickerdoodles. I believe that was also the same game with “Prepare for buttle” and the final boss that Jon walled against, ended the stream, and then immediately beat the boss right after the stream in four tries. 22:05 Good ol’ Mikey and the way he’d scare Lucah into thinking that he was some wayward child who just showed up in their home at their old apartment. 25:42 Probably the most unceremonious Shredder defeat I’ve seen.

Good way to explain it too. I just did a backlight mod on an old DMG I found in my storage unit so this LP as well as the Ninja Gaiden one have been great ways for me to learn about Gameboy games I've not heard of before. I didn't have a Gameboy until the Color when I borrowed it from a friend for the summer (that turned into 5 years) so I missed out on a lot of the early titles. I grew up with the 80s cartoon and loved turtles so much. I even got a training bike for my birthday with turtles on it. I followed TMNT all the way up to the CGI movie and the 2003 show, but I kinda fell out of turtles. It wasn't until 4 years ago that I got back into Turtles with the IDW comics. It is amazing that such a weird idea has lasted so long, but TMNT keeps going. Really excited for the new beat-em Turtles game.

There’s something cute about lucha’s favorite turtle being Raph, given that you and he both get cast as the angry one in the group.

The fact that all the turtles look like Raph reminds me of a KZbin Poop I saw years back "You guys telling _me,_ you guys are turning into _me?"_

I grew up with the og cartoon and the three movies with the concert. My favourite is Raphael. My boys who are 9 and 7 watch the newer movies and the Nickelodeon cartoon. My oldest loves Leonardo and my youngest now like Donatello. I love how I can share my favourite franchise with them, and we love watching the first three movies together. And Cory Feldman is the best Donny.

I wasn't super big into ninja turtles growing up, however I really enjoyed the gamecube game that was based on the 4kids show though.
