It's this, prototype 1 gave you only 1 weapon choice before you had to change it in menu, in exchange, you could equip a armor piece, such as the bullet resistance armor, the second is the opposite, allowing 2 weapons, but no resistance buff

What about the Goliath and the Evolved guys (which almost all bosses in Prototype 2 are Evolved) Also, the Super Soldiers are SO MUCH BETTER AND HARDER than the Prototype 2 ones. I mean, The Prototype 2 Super Soldiers can fall by throwing anything at them, even throwing a freaking human can make them fall, while the ones in Prototype 1 Can't fall that easily, they were really powerfull, they were able to smash Alex while he was in the air, they were inmune to being consumed (unless you glitched the game) and the worst thing is that they even fucking knew you were Alex Mercer IN A FUCKING DISGUISE while the ones from the second game didn't have those abilitys. GENIUS. FUCKING GENIUS, IDIOTS.

It's about perspective, the story of how you are put in the shoes of a person who is an protagonist, you learn from mercer that he knows he is not mercer, but the virus the fight against his mentality of understanding what he is and what he was build and meant to be , you are then put in the shoes of a person who knows nothing about what happened in NYC but just that mercer is a horrible person you understand an outside perspective on that situation and the driving force of why mercer is the antagonist i think what they did was perfect you understand how power can control and change a person from wanted revenge to wanting everything, Both games are amazing at poetry the story of how even the protagonist can become consumed in its own power. Overall the main idea of this story is to show how what really happened but in a different perspective just like in real life when it comes to war or when it comes to politics there is always two stories and a hero may not be a hero in another persons point of view.

In my opinion both games were awesome but both of them have lacked a VERY important part -> End-Game-Content! If you have finished the game in prototype 2 there is nothing NOTHING to do you can just walk around and kill a few zombies and soldiers and that's it you can not infiltrate a hive or a base again and it's also very hard to find a few big monsters and if you do find some the only thing you find are brawlers. I don't understand why they didn't spawn more brawlers, goliaths, juggernauts, flyers and so on especially in the red zone! This part was sadly very disappointing :(. This game could have become so much more! In Prototype 1 you got at least SOME End-Game-Content you could fight hives and bases... But the overall CHOPPER force was so damn fucking annoying that you couldn't enjoy just destroying the ground because the things are always respawning the whole fucking time :L. So if there is in some very distant future a chance that a new Prototype comes out they should try to add a few things more: 1. END GAME CONTENT (if the game is finished you need something to do there otherwise it gets boring and you may stop!) 2. More abilities (P1 has more abilities than P2 that itself is...) (even though some abilities like biobomb were awesome! 3. Customizable char like in saints row! (if you do that people won't complain that a char looks like shit and for the personality I would say if he is a true intelligent badass that's good to go) 4. More Areas to roam for example making more buildings which you can enter! 5. A good story (That's where I put P1 absolutely above P2, this stupid revenge story with murder your maker was just stupid) Here comes an idea for the start of the story: The character you will play would be Pariah and instead of a hero / anti-hero this time you would play the villain:) The story you play is between P1 and P2. You would start inside a laboratory and you would first see some things which they are doing to you and afterwards you got a chance to infect a scientist which will later mutate to some monster and run havoc. You would use this chance and try to escape by killing and destroying everything which is in your path. After you have escaped the laboratory and killed everything outside of it you got attacked by Alex Mercer. Mercer knows who you are and also knows that if you will run free you will destroy the world which we know. After a battle with him Mercer realizes that he can't beat you even though he has more battle experience and some good evolved weapons because everytime you clash with him you automaticly consume something from him. That when Mercer decides to escape and to create something which has a chance to destroy you (That's where his P2 story begins later on). Now you can update the story here like you wish but I think this would be a cool start :) Some cool abilities: - Infecting people - creating special monsters - creating normal zombies - creating intelligent "evolved?" - Hiding in the ground as bio mass where you can spike kill your enemies - Hiding in other life forms not just become them - More martial arts like fighting moves to make the default combat look better - creating biomass around the environment which infects buildings people and so on if they come in touch with it - driving cars and other vehicles :D - ... and of course ALL the old abilties from P1 and P2:) Well that's my opinion and idea^^

+Sacha Haimovich Yes, the chances that there is a Prototype 3 are near zero. I think this is just sad because the game had much potential and nearly a flawless gameplay and "ok" graphics at least on the PS 3 :-). In my opnion they had made three mistakes in Prototype 2: 1) Killing off the Protagonist from Prototype 1 because it's obvious that many people will be annoyed by that (but don't get me wrong using a new playable character was the right choice you just shouldn't have killed the first :D) 2) You have less abilities in Prototype 2 than in Prototype 1 (for example fist and kick combos, missing armor, ...) 3) The most important part which I have pointed out at my post before: no end game content -> people get bored to fast. Well, in the end we can't truly change anything about it anyway :D

Unarmed combat was a key feature in P1, you had many moves at your disposal, punch, kick, uppercuts, ground slamming, fist bumping, hand waves, and to top it all you could mix them for different combos in. P2 it was severely numbed down, such a shame. Other than that the game was awesome.

Rogue Reaper the reason why Alex Mercer turned against the humans, is because that he wanted to create a new era of evolved, and another thing, since Alex Mercer had already unlocked his powers on the first game, then whats the point of playing the game when you unlocked the powers. Also he lost his hooe after knowing the truth since he can't cure himself, and the people see him as a monster. Thats why I think he decided to become evil and make a new era of evolved to wipe out the human race and make a new one using his powers.

What I really missed from prototype 2 were the multiple kinds of devastators, and move combos like cannonball, spikedriver, uppercut... they really colored the experience and allowed you multiple choices how to get rid of the opponent. What prototype 2 had for combat was normal attacks / strong attacks +some differed when you did it in the air and that's about it. And you couldn't even pick up tank and helo wreckage to throw them anymore...

I really enjoyed the powers and combat moves in the first game that were not present in the second. The shots where it was just one game was that the things they were showing were only in that game, like the knuckle shock wave/ground pound/ palm smash, ground spikes, thermal/viral vision, or the three different devastators, or that you could slide down/ spider climb walls... a lot of simple and fluid things. I'll admit fighting was sometimes clunky, like how you could stand one one side of a tank and use hammer fists while nobody could touch you, but the combat and movement had more options. Also the city was sometimes repetitive as there was as much diversity in NPCs as Skyrim's voice acting. Prototype 2 took a few steps forward but a few steps back as well, cutting several things out that were in the first game, and making it feel watered down but different & new at the same time, introducing "X" amount of MAJOR mechanics but cutting xxxxx options & minor game play aspects. In summation, there are things from the first that I would have loved to see in the second game but they decided to drop unfortunately, although there were several major improvements to the overall atmosphere of the game and a few new things to gameplay. After owning them both on console, I decided to only get the first one on PC because enemies do several times more damage on hard mode than Prototype 2's "INSANE" mode, cars smash like they are made of steel instead of iron, and my laptop can run the first game perfectly. Sorry for the long review, but I got tired of seeing people being called racist because they prefer to play as an average build male scientist over a beastly beefcake marine or people saying things like "Protype 2 sucks because heller was annoying af".

The virus didn't give up, and started to do what Alex would do. And that's it mission, to complete that. In prototype 2 you dont even have 1 / 3 the abilities and things to do in comparison to 1, in 1 you can even freakign have a badass cutscene when u equip your weapon, more realistic gravity and jumps vs those "smooth" no physics jump(i jump up with slow speed, maintain same speed for the next 2 seconds, slow down and start falling) prototype plain cooler and better only thing they did better in 2 is graphics(ow and thanks for the dlc bulletdive, the coolest move in 1 disgraced in every possible way(same dmg/ destruction for when u jump from the dumpster and when u jump from the empire state))

And I'm perfectly happy with Heller beating Mercer, because that was the game's entire theme - "Destroy Your Maker". "Heller vs Mercer". Even though they screwed up and Alex made like 4-5 total appearances in the game, and we got one fight with him. Alex barely survived a nuclear explosion, I'd say his fight should have been more titanic. But his sense of humor was a nice addition. "Welcome to the top of the food chain."

My opinion: - Prototype 1 = a lot of combos but weak in defense, of course not too weak to say, focus on strength (of course this is what you are looking for). My favorite strengths are blades and hammerfists. I have finished 2 times normal and hard mode. for the best prototype 1 storyline. - Prototype 2 = if this character is all open power or etc. I think this main character will be very invincible. just look when you click hold Ctrl then look at the health bar. prototype 2 is balanced between strength and defense. That's all my experience playing prototypes 1 & 2

I think it is just a race thing. Heller is stereotyped as an Angry Black Man, who has a REASON to be angry and actually has PERSONALITY. Alex, meanwhile, is a Rage Monster, who on top of being the original protagonist (and oh, are people so bothered by this) is also white. I noticed it in Left 4 Dead 2, my friends had a particular dislike of characters like Rochelle and Coach and preferred Ellis and Nick for ubiquitous reasons - almost to the point that they didn't want to play if they....

You forgot a few things like Fist's: Alex can do air/ground combos and do a charged up kick that can knock hunters skidding across the floor. Heller just punches and does a charged kick Destructible enviroment: prototype yes prototype 2 no Blade: Alex's is more powerful and can one shot tanks! Hellers has better crowd clearing but can't even destroy tanks Map size: P1 is larger since you can roam the entire city of NY P2 are three small islands which you can't travel to viva heliport feels very linear Disguise: P1 as a soldier you could call in air strikes and point at people to say that they were infected or do a switcharoo with the closest person P2 can't do anything just a disguise -_- Vehicles: P1 more durable more ammo, had that nuclear tank which you could find and use any time P2 could weaponize/finishers but felt weaker when driving them, mainly helicopters personally prefer prototype overall

Prototype 2 has the same level of destructible enviroments as Prototype 1, minus the hives and bases. It's good that the blade got nerfed, there's no reason it should do more damage than the much slower hammerfist Prototype 2 has almost the same exact map as Prototype 1 minus the northern half of Manhattan, but it has two medium sized islands to make up for it. Overall, P2 has a bigger map than P1. I can tell that nostalgia has blinded you.

SephirothgeneX7 I agree. And in 1st one you can get inside of military base, eat few important people totaly destroy it from the inside, after what go outside and destroy the building. Plus destroy building, where are the infected coming out from, plus they coming out fron contaners on the roofs, plus monsters are bigger and more powerfull. Plus There was one mission with giant monster in the middle of city, some girl, who became like that and after atack hides in the ground to get out again and final boss was brutal as well on powerfull military ship. Elizabeth Greene - one of the best missions.

Does anyone here know about the prototype comic that takes place after prototype 1? People dont seem to realize there was a whole 2 years between either game where Alex lost more and more faith in humanity. In the end of his trip he decided that it was better to make humanity something better, which is why he tried to make the evolved in the second game. The writters didnt just randomly want Alex to be the villian, they explained why in the comic.

Make Heller run into the dead zone where a rocket will kill you in one hit, put the two spiky shields up, and even that wont touch you, Alex takes damage from bullets even while his armored shell is on. So no further prove is needed to confirm the superiority of Heller's defense over Alex's. :]

Mercer was Amped in part 2, tried to kill mercer and he lost. all of the powers not being there was part of game mechanics and nothing else. Heller was special. when mercer tried to consume him earlier in the game, he was not able to. Me i prefer Prototype 1 much more than 2 because in the first, the game is more base on real life things like the memory flash back and also the vehicules are actual army vehicules and i love to use Abraham tanks/ Bradley and Apache helicopter. In prototype 2 there was to much fictional weapons and stuff. The first game seem more serious to me than the second one in term of environements and how it would be in a real life situation.

Prototype 2 is just boring as hell. You are literally given God Mode at the beginning of the game. At least in Prototype 1, you can still be badass while not feeling the damn stigma of being OP as hell. Also, Alex has more powers that are also more interesting. Granted, Mercer's characterization was terrible. But don't forget - Mercer too is just a random guy who was created to launch a series. Again, I doubt anyone would admit to racial discrimination, but still, I'd give Heller more credit than Mercer as a protagonist. At least Heller had a backstory and a reason to become a monster, Mercer basically woke up with superpowers and instinctively decided to murder everything in his way. Imagine all you want, Heller still beats him in the end.

But Mercer wasn't much better. He barely had any personality, and in the end, they completely wiped out his old personality in a comic book. Mercer was an angry rage machine with even LESS reason than Heller - Heller lost his family and was getting fucked over by just about everyone. Mercer, on the other hand, was a dick in his "past life" and wanted to kill everyone who got in his way - and then after his tiny bit of character development, turns into a bad guy anyway.

And while I won't disagree with Mercer being a wannabe Wesker, James Heller was more interesting than Alex Mercer was. The only big shocker about Mercer was that he wasn't really Mercer. I actually end up feeling bad for Heller; his family's killed, but then his daughter's alive, and then he doesn't even want to be near her - he's sealed Necromorph in a can. Perhaps Mercer's awful characterization in Prototype 2 implies how bored they were with his character. They killed him off easily enough.:p
