Since Mercer's limbs were severed repeatedly in that shitty game, and this ending shows he can regenerate his entire person from a SINGLE strand of organism, despite his main body being consumed, Mercer can still be alive. And we can all agree that the story of Prototype 2 was fucking stupid, it disregarded all of Mercer's development in the first game and kills him off. And some the company that made the games is defunct, I'm going to say that Prototype 2 is non canon, since it's so stupid.

I wish I could have finished this game. But there was honestly some mechanics that were so FRUSTRATING. I couldn’t get past mission 29. It literally takes all the worst parts of the game and puts it in one place. I couldn’t stand it. Sometimes I’d even get strike teams called on me just getting to the mission zone.
