Creoles are Racially and ethnically mixed .Creoles are part Black, White, Indian Spanish and French just to name a few.Race is not a defining characteristic of being a Creole.Creole is a Culture not a Race.We come from Louisiana and have Our own Culture.some still speak Creole and We all kind of eat the same food,Gumbo,Jambalaya,Shrimp Creole,enjoy Zydeco music and have strong Catholic religious roots..but that may not always be the case.more importantly we have strong family ties in Louisiana

My family is also from Louisiana as well...mostly around New Orleans, Shreveport and Baton Rouge. Yes, you are correct that many Creoles of Color did come from Haiti after the revolution there. However, there were also a large Creole of Color population in Louisiana before the mass migration from Haiti as well. Also don't forget that the Louisiana Territory belonged to the French and Spanish until 1803. French was widely spoken there too.

@IslenoGutierrez Slaves brought to Louisiana were already Creole speaking.You are forgetting that White Creoles adopted this word from Creole Slaves.I am also a Louisiana Creole & I've been hearing this myth put out by "George Washington Cable "& believe Me it's far from the truth. All My life I've been hearing People who know very little about Us or Our Culture claim that We don't exist & are by products of Other Cultures.Enough is enough.It's Time We Creoles took control of Our Culture

@IslenoGutierrez Chicago was settled by A Haitian Creole and for Your info, It too was a French possession.My Louisiana Ancestors go back to the 18th Century long before the Spanish took possession of Louisiana My ancestors are veterans of the Battle of New Orleans & All of Them live throughout the State of Louisiana .Many left Because Your Ancestors chased them away with their Racist ways. I'm a Louisiana Raised in Chicago. I live in New Orleans in Gentilly and also California..So what !!

HATIANS are only Creole because they were owned by Louisiana Creoles The sons and daughters of French planters who owned them and had them to work growing sugar cane They are “Kreyol” NOT Creole
@og-greenmachine86234 жыл бұрын
The French planters came from France and were single men that left their women at home they were lonely they had no women so when they saw the slave ships came in they pick the prettiest African slaves and immediately made them wives that’s where Louisiana Creole people came from!!!!! those AFRICAN FREE WOMEN owned the other slaves in many cases that slave woman that was wed to a white FRENCHMAN? when he died would inherit his slaves and ran his plantation and African women actually ran slaves. learn your goddamn history!!!

To all of you, stop fighting. Creole does not refer to color. It is the mixture of any Colored with a European. It is a mixture or different races like Native American, African, European and nowadays we have Chiney who are Asian Creole. Let say any one who can trace 2 of these races can call him/herself creole or mulatto as it used to be called. The word creole was mostly for the descent of Slaves borns in the Antilles (French Caribbean). At the end, though, Jesus knows no color!

@smartkitty991 I'm a bit con fused..Not all Creoles come from Haiti..We are Louisiana Creoles and My Grandparents speak Louisiana Creole, which is similar to Haitian Creole..Some of Our Ancestors come from Haiti...Augustine, My name is Haitian If You remember, during the Haitian Revolution in 1804 over 20,000 Haitian Free People of Color, Blacks and Whites fled to New Orleans and Cuba..Creoles are World wide, in fact We are the Oldest Minorities in the America's. We are proud of Our Heritage

@ckfastback As my family always put in. In Northern Lousiana, if you were to ride the bus during segregation, where would you end up sitting? With the black people. Almost ALL african americans are mixed, creole is not a completely separate race, and the only reason it was ever considered such was to create a racial hierarchy to enforce old antiquated self hatred such as paper bag tests.

It depends. Your statement itself has been the mantra for years because there has long been and still is a tendency to admit European and Native ancestry and ignore or omit the African ancestry. My family is from Louisiana and I grew up a part of LA where there were a lot of Creoles who also originally came from Louisiana. Obvious to anyone who has been around them, Creoles range in color from dark complete to almost white. However to say they are mostly one of over the other is inaccurate.

TomZero> Well it soley DEPENDS ON THE PERCENTAGE of African blood. Iam french creole/haitian and i don't look caucasian or indian really. i have Native american blood. I look black mostly but my mom is very fair skinned. There are alot of creoles who are brown-skinned and have ethnic hair>like me.. MOST CREOLEs I know definetely have OBVIOUS african blood. So don't try to downplay the african ancestry. Personally from a AA CREOLE's point of view i feel like your statement is'nt completely true

@IslenoGutierrez I have no idea just where You got all this Mumbo jumbo from but I'm amazed. .Creoles was a name given to the first Born African slaves in the New World.Creole is a Mixture of African & French & is spoken in Louisiana, Haiti ,Africa,throughout the New World,on the Islands off the Coast of Africa & in South America.Many Louisiana White Creoles also speak Creole which they learned from the Slaves Who were considered Creoles way before The Spanish took possession of Louisiana

Creoles have been mixing With Whites & Native Americans from day one .are You telling Me that The White Mixture of French does not count for anything

also may I include "if you look black means your black, so if you look white means your white? lmao... "contradictory" so if your latino and look black means your not latino (culture)for ex. lyod (dominican) from murder inc, sammie sosa, stacy dash, marlin santana, wycleff (french) which is latin, etc. dude you have a-lot to learn. by the way you have more light and dark skin stating that they are creole vs white; black people accept whites as if that makes us look better, whites dont accept

@IslenoGutierrez .Many Creoles Were never Slaves.They Built the French Quarters and Brought their Skills from Africa.You Might tell Your source of Info to stop reading outdated Racist Dictionaries.Creoles Are not anyone Who says He is.It's insulting & very Politically Incorrect.Creole is a Bonified Culture and is not an off spring of the French or the White Spanish People It's a combination of the three.Please Please Please pick Up a Book instead of listening to what other People tell You

@IslenoGutierrez Just Why are You trying to discredit Creoles and Their Culture when You know absolutely nothing about their History.It is well Documented that the Original Creoles Were African a Word Borrowed by the White Europeans .I've been studying Our Peoples History for over 20 years& I know You don't have a clue as to Who or What is a Creole.The only thing coming from Your mouth is that Creoles Come in all colors but not in all Nationalities.
