Bobby and J.R. represented the best and worst of Jock. Bobby had Jock’s compassion and good heart but he was weak and didn’t possess Jock’s inner strength. J.R., on the other hand, had Jock’s strength of will and possessed Jock’s savyness and could get down and dirty. But J.R. didn’t have a compassionate bone in his body. He got down and dirty and stayed there and absolutely loved it. Bobby aided Miss Ellie in continuing to support Amanda even after Jock died. J.R. would’ve stopped the payments and had poor Amanda thrown out in the streets!!

@@TheEwing69 The portrait was a more a homage to the actors. It was a way to depict them both, but in a tender way. I just wish it looked more like an actual painting, rather than a computer printoff.

@@TheEwing69 Yes. Even the famous Jock portrait was taken from an actual scene from the show, but they made it look like an actual painting. Wish they had taken the time to do it with the Jock and Ellie portrait.

I love the little whispers he puts in there! One time in a different episode he whispered to her that he loved her. It was sweet! I’m not sure if that was put in the script or if it was an actor’s choice, but it makes them more endearing.

I think the writers missed out on a opportunity when they brought in Amanda as a blast from the past. They could have written that Amanda was pregnant when she was comitted to the ward, without Jock knowing anything about the pregnancy or the baby. The baby getting adopted away, and Jock, Miss Ellie, Bobby, or Pam could discover it in a paper or see an old picture with Amanda holding a baby.. It sure could have stired things up, if Jock suddenly had a son or daughter older than JR..

An older daughter, would have made it interesting.

I love "Dallas" as a whole series, but my favorite episodes were the ones with Jock, he was the only one that could keep JR in line. JR might have messed with other people, but not his daddy.

Who was Amanda? Ray's mother? Jock's 1st wife, who was in the prequel??? Also, if Jock had a son with his 1st wife, wouldn't that mean that Ray is older than JR??
@dianeharris7110 жыл бұрын
No. In Dallas, The Early Years, Amanda was already in a mental institution by the time Jock met Ellie. He divorced Amanda when Ellie told him she was pregnant (with JR). Jock never told anyone on his family until he and his sons were ambushed on a camping/hunting trip. Jock and Amanda had no children together, as far as I know.
@HnHBlkM10 жыл бұрын
So who is Ray's mother?
@dianeharris7110 жыл бұрын
She was an army nurse that cared for him during the war. They had an affair and he told Ellie about it when he came home. But neither he nor Ray knew Ray was his son until years after Ray began working for him.
@CaptainSpalding7210 жыл бұрын
Amanda is Jocks first wife... she is in the prequel movie. Ray's Margeret was a nurse in the war and Ray was born after JR, after the war, maybe before Gary.
