Hey Chris, I’m not shooting the messenger here I appreciate everything you do keeping us informed. As an original SOCAL now living in Washington State I spent 18 years in CA before going to the US Army. In those 18 years I went to Disneyland multiple times a year and have watched Disneyland grow and change through all of its iterations. Now I am in my 50’s and I am fortunate to have a wife who also loves everything Disney and we used to take annual trips to Disneyland before moving to WA. We celebrated Birthdays, Engagements, All Nighters and enjoyed every minute of it. Now the but…If I want to travel to Disneyland it requires airfare, hotels, shuttles, etc. and with all of the things that are happening at the park I find myself feeling less and less interested in visiting any further. Between ticketing, reservations, lightning passes, Key Cards, Genie Plus, they are literally making it too difficult to wade through all the rules and requirements. I never had that much pressure going to Disneyland and it does seem that they are trying to make this an elitist destination and although I would have no problem coming up with the money to go. The good ole’ days are gone and I’m feeling like a piece of my childhood is slowly dying away because Disney is making it all about the Dollar and not the “Walt Experience”. They are losing sight of Walt’s vision and they will eventually lose a valued customer who has many memories that will need to sustain me into my later years because I just won’t make the journey.

They are too busy. Season pass holders clog up the parks so that those of us that might visit once or twice in our lifetimes will have a bad experience at a crowded park. I've been watching these videos initially preparing to take our kids. But I'm with you they have may it far too complicated and expensive to go to an amusement park. I love the idea of the park but the reality looks like the opposite of a vacation. Sorry kids we can't have fun right now I'm trying to reserve a ride pass on an app that isn't working and I've got to figure out how to charge my smartphone at a theme park. Sounds like work not interested.

MY Millenial Niece and family went last year with another family. They told me that since the other family did not purchase the Genie Plus....It WRECKED THEIR VACATION!!!! What!!! I held back from telling her about the days when we would go to Disneyland and at the end of the day realize we only went on 3 rides. BUT WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!

I beg to differ. I can almost guarantee that if you could look deep enough into Disney's finances I think you would be shocked by what you find. Disney is broke! That's why they're doubling down on the price increases at the parks. The resorts are the ONLY branch that is making any money. The took on a mountain of debt to acquire fox and launch Disney plus and that's not even close to paying off. All their movies are flopping massively. They're hurting and they're squeezing the fans of parks to make up for it. You guys are being forced to pay for their mistakes. I've already made the decision to leave Disney behind. Everyone else needs to as well. Otherwise you're letting management know that ok with being screwed.

And a BILLION for star wars land. And a few BILLION for new attractions. And countless BILLIONS launching Disney + which isn't supposed to become profitable for 10 YEARS! How many BILLIONS do you think they spent producing those marvel films? And how many BILLIONS marketing them? If a movie brings in a billion at the box office that doesn't mean Disney makes a billion. Their profit off a movie that nets a billion at the box office is probably 250-350 million. They spent a BILLION just to implement lightning lane! Their stock prices has been plummeting. When a company is making BILLIONS their stock doesn't loss half its value. Haha. I own a business. I know what it costs to run one. You're blind if you don't think Disney isn't hurting for money. The parks is the only branch keeping the whole company afloat! We went last month for one day, one park. For four of us, with genie+, the cost was $676. Parking was $30. So we were over $700 for a day without any food or drinks. Can’t believe they are raising prices, when they are already so expensive. Do the banks offer Disneyland loans?

It’s not just Genie+ and park tickets that went up. Savi’s lightsabers increased by $30 from $219 to $249 and the droid depot droids went from $99 to $119 today. I’m sure there are even more things going up in price that we haven’t noticed yet.

Bob Paycheck stated they would follow demand with their pricing strategy. They will only reduce costs if the demand slows. Technically a smart move when demand is at an all time high. We are headed for recession. They are trying to create as much revenue as possible before the demand falls. It is a bummer for the middle and lower classes.

Disney priced me out last year. I've been going to Knotts and Universal instead and Honestly, we don't miss it. With all the terrible service, rides broken down or "refurbishment" and LONG LINES at Disneyland, it makes for a terrible experience. Definitely NOT the same good vibes as before the shutdown.

@ Liz C, the cast members can be as nice as pie, but if you have to wait in 45 minute lines just to get a pretzel, the “service” is still terrible. Went 2 weeks ago and I kid you not, we waited almost 45 minutes at the Pixar pier ice cream stand (I think it’s called adorable snowman or something). Everything is about waiting in lines and pushing through crowds nowadays.

I've been going to Disneyland all my life and what they are doing is such a disgrace to the experience. As a person growing up with Disney, I've always had the eyes of Walt Disney seeing his park grow through the years. I was an annual pass holder pre pandemic and we would go to Disneyland 5-6 times a year. With prices going up every year, I've only been able to visit the park rarely. I have an annual pass.. and even with it costing me “nothing” to go, Ive only gone twice since May. The experience of having to push through shoulder-to-shoulder crowds and wait in 30-45 minutes lines JUST to get an ice cream has made it where it’s not even worth it. I’ll probably lose out on the price of the pass. Like a many others have mentioned, Disney keeps raising prices, but people ALSO keep packing the parks. So I think we’re all to blame here. I remember when going to Disney on your day off was the place to relax and unwind. Hahahahahahahaha.

@@danjones3009 that’s unfortunate. My husband and I don’t do much like eat out, go to movies or anything. We plan trips to Disney but it’s definitely getting harder. I do things like save up airline miles for free or discounted airfare, my husband travels and saves up his hotel points for free rooms. I buy Disney gift cards each payday so I can save up spending money that way. Lots of things that help make it more affordable but that ship is slowly sailing.

We are a Disney family and have gone there frequently since the kids were very young. Visited several times to celebrate birthday’s. We went last month in September and for the first time didn’t spring for park hopper passes. The price and the time restrictions made it no longer worth the price. We bought the Genie+ but for sure it seemed to be an extra expense for something we used to get included in the ticket price (Fastpass) With another price increase. We will be considering other vacation destinations in the future. Don’t understand why Disney needs the money grab. Not so happiest place on Earth any longer. Feeling sad.

There's an easy answer to ever increasing prices, and that particularly pertains to Genie+: STOP BUYING THE DAMN TICKETS. My wife and I are MK holders, and we absolutely refuse to buy any form of Genie product. We're already paying inordinately high prices for [compared to pre-COVID shutdown] poorer food, food selection, and service, and we are not going to pay more for something we already paid for: an entry ticket that entitles us to ride attractions. Disney is clearly out of control concerning revenue sources versus guest experience. It's time to retire Mickey as their mascot and replace him with Scrooge McDuck

I was just at Disneyland, for my first time ever on October 3rd and I didn't enjoy it as much as i hoped because of the huge crowds. I had genie+, got there at 8AM, and stayed until close which was midnight. I still didn't have time to do everything that was available, not including the rides that were down. The demand is there so of course they will increase their prices.

Disney raises its prices AGAIN because God knows Disney doesn't have enough money! My wife says she will never go again because it's just not worth it. Shame on Disney! So disappointing to hear this! I had an annual pass for 8 straight years before pandemic and now, annual passes can’t be accessed and daily passes are becoming unattainable for the normal Joe like me. I am officially done!

I'd worry that if I wait 'til "day of" to purchase Genie+, they'd be unavailable that day 🙁 I only have 4.5 days to think about this... I am SO tempted to purchase the tickets now but we can't afford it until the day AFTER the ticket prices go up. But I am a little confused about something because GetAwayToday website says "book by Oct 20th" but prices go up ON Oct 20th, so are we able to purchase our tickets from GetAwayToday ON Oct 20th or it has to be BEFORE Oct 20th? I guess this is more a question for GAT lol. Thanks as always for keeping us updated with Disneyland info!
