Go incognito is incredibly well made and super informational. I love this course, and it’s the first thing I send to my friends if they ask about almost anything privacy related.

I've been binge watching these, I love this "course" so much! I feel like I'm in college again, but its more fun and there's no hw. That said... My head is spinning... All this stuff is new to me. 2fa's, hardening your browser, VPN's, it's a lot to learn.... Thanks for making this journey easier for us. You have a unique thing goin here. I wish you prosperity this 2022, keep up the good work!

Feel a little bit excited to see you mentioned Shadowsocks (even only as a footnote). Pretty much the only thing from this God forsaken country that I am proud of. With that being said, I would love to see your take on circumventing censorship. Even the once mighty Shadowsocks can't survive the gfw probe without a properly configured obfuscation plugin suite (mainly TLS to disguise the traffic as HTTPS, and a proper web server so that unauthorized prober will be served a normal looking webpage instead of nothing, in order to disguise the purpose of the VPS).

Other than better performance / better speed, I see no point in using a VPN, when you can use Tor for free. Tor was designed for privacy. It you use it correctly, and do not do anything stupid, you can conduct your internet activity in private. With a VPN, you are putting all of your "I trust you" eggs into one basket. The VPN is able to see 100% of everything that you do. Even if the VPN has a "No logs" policy, you have zero ability to confirm their claim. They are complete strangers, and you are putting your entire internet activity into their hands. And even if the VPN service truly wants to keep no longs, they can be compelled to keep logs via a court order. And they can be issued a gag order to not let their customers know that they are keeping logs. None of this is a problem with the Tor network. There is no one that you need to trust. And if you are using a VPN service, or even the Tor network, via Windows (especially version 10), you practically defeat the whole point of privacy, because Windows 10 is a huge spyware operating system. It keeps logs on every keystroke, every mouse click, every file access, etc. Does it get sent to Microsoft? Who knows what gets sent to Microsoft. But your computer has countless detailed log on everything. Only a handful of forensic experts know the full breath of everything that Windows 10 logs, and the names of the logs, and the location of the logs, and the "no one ever heard of it" utility you need to learn in order to view the logs, etc. When you install Windows 10, it brings you to a screen where all manner of data collection is enabled. If you do not disable them (if you do what most people do and just mindlessly click your way through), you are definitely sharing your life with Microsoft. And you are not able to disable all of Windows 10 data that is sent to Microsoft. Microsoft's data collection is so intrusive, programs such as "O&O ShutUp10" was developed to minimize Microsoft's spying (and who knows whether or not "O&O ShutUp10" fully mutes Microsoft's spying). www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 A VPN service is better than no service, if you are seeking privacy. But if you really want privacy, run the Linux Tails distribution, which defaults to using the Tor network. You will trade-off speed and other conveniences. But that is necessary to protect you from yourself (something VPN services do not do). Cheers!

This might be something you'd be interested in checking out; there is an app called 'Slice - Get My Slice' that apparently gives you money based on your data. It's sketchy, but they claim they analyse your data and send some of it to companies so that they can contact you via the app and talk about the products they have to offer to you. From talking, you get paid money. Seems to good to be true, right?

Hello Techlore, can you review WeVPN. I am interested to know is WeVPN any good and which tier is? How private it is, how secure it is and so on?

"Good luck. I'm behind seven proxies..."
@InventorZahran3 жыл бұрын
@Over Yonder What I didn't tell you is that each of my proxies is proxied behind seven more proxies, which are all isolated by a multi-hop VPN running over eleven layers of Tor, with important packets exchanged via IP over Avian Carriers. All this is being run on a decentralized network of Microsoft Bob servers.

Wait your suppose to use FOSS even though you said to pay for the vpn
@techlore4 жыл бұрын
FOSS = Free as in libre, not necessarily in cost. VPNs are paid services that typically work with OpenVPN/WireGuard clients (Open source), or some clients like IVPN, Mullvad, and ProtonVPN are actually open source themselves.
@InventorZahran3 жыл бұрын
VPN servers cost money to operate, so it's only fair that customers pay for the service (even if the client software itself is free/libre and free-of-charge).

Good afternoon Techlore, Sifaka price is bit expensive. You may try to reduce price to like $10 per month. Year plan should be $30 per year. Sifaka should be affordible and available to most people.

As a Data security enthusiast soon to enter an Undergrad course on the subject. I can assure you, that when it comes to VPN's, it's more of working out *"who to trust?"* , rather than *"who to hide from?"* At the end of the day, someone will know at the very least, half of your traffic, where you go and what sites you visit. ISP's will hold logs, whilst SOME, VPN providers don't. Check out Surfshark, they've got a spicy deal going on, and check out thatoneprivacyguy's site.
