I would add the role player. 😊 Completely think through your character. Background, motivation, desires, hobbies and weaknesses. During each dialogue, pause and ask yourself, “What would my character do?”. Take 5 minutes to click on the neutral answer option. Load a save from 10 hours ago if you think that one decision goes against the character’s worldview and you then made a mistake. Oh yes... It's me 😂

And if he goes through with the ritual... oof, probably 2nd or 3rd most evil character (after Rafael and Mizora, literal devils) in the game Okay, I can humor you and say he can turn CN through character development if you push him in that direction. If he gives up on the vampire ritual he ascends to CN And Cazador isn't CE, he is LE. Literally making deals with devils, strict tyrant to his spawn, all the jazz. And full vampires are always LE in DnD so that fits as well

@@paultapping9510 lol...The first time I played was with my husband and I got Astarion to control because he had Shadowheart or Lae'zel already and I had no idea you could romance people in the game. I was playing an Oath of Justice pally though so he didn't like me too much and I just pretty much didn't romance anyone but kept him with me the entire time because I liked his play style so much and he was attractive. When we got to the ending of his story line though, I knew I had to actually try the romance the next time I played because the end of his quest line makes it obvious there could be more to him than just a whiny power obsessed asshole and I wasn't disappointed. In my opinion he has the best character growth in the game that I've seen thus far, but tbh idk how I could play through again and not have him there.

Hey!!! Sorry but small little fun fact I wanted to add an a bit of a spoiler and a piece of advice! If you hadnt done that (assuming you did it BEFORE freeing the nightsong) and then proceeded to free the nightsong, when you arrive at moonrise towers, you will find Harper corpses littering the place. However, if you kill everyone in the tower AND THEN go to free the nightsong and come back to kill kethric, you dont find a single person dead :> Also you could use the command skill to pull npcs you wanna kill into a silence bubble and then kill them there. As long as its out of sight, you get away Scotch free! :D Best part is if someone walks into the room or area and enters the bubble, they cant call for reinforcements so you can kill them before they run away and cause you to fight a horde.

For the reloaders and cheesers. There's an actual way to get the Apostle of Myrkul scythe and use it. After his death you need to loot his corpse very fast, and get the scythe. The only way to equip the item is dragging your already equipped weapon to the item slot in the inventory. Btw, the weapon have 2d12 + 15 slashing damage, and have 5m of attack range. Enjoy

After the scythe pushed my melee chars, I reloaded and used the disarm maneuver of my Battlemaster Fighter 😅 The fight was much easier then. So no waiting to pick up, simply disarm in fist turn and pick up after😂

Restarter + Explorer here! I'm up to 80 hours, 4 character slots, STILL in act 1 with all of them....and still having the time of my life. I'd never seen the appeal of things like WoW or Skyrim before, even though I liked D&D...while Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines was TECHNICALLY my first CRPG and opened the door for my interest in BG3, I wouldnt have gotten the game at all without my friends telling me about the story and characters. And I'm so glad I listened and I dont regret the time I've spent just wandering exploring the maps, listening to NPC dialogue, roleplaying characters. Genuinely one of the most fun games I've played in my LIFE, and thinking that I've only seen a THIRD of it at MINIMUM has me so excited and happy for more.

That's one of the main reasons you play a charisma class in DnD. The guard asks: Why are you placing these barrels here? You: I am not supposed to tell you, but the wine is for a surprise party to honor the guards. Pretend to be surprised. Well, technically that was not a lie. I mean if I did not respect the guards strength I would not have prepared barrels of explosives and alcohol.

I’m the dating simmer but I think it’s totally awesome. To be honest, I've never had any thoughts about romantic relationships in DND or any other TRPG (I haven't tried CRPG )before, but with Baldur's Gate 3, it's really hard for me to say no to any datings. Every character is so well-crafted. It is amazing to communicate between souls in magic or feel the true desire with devil. I'm so happy to experience these romantic scenes that are unimaginable in reality. Definitely worth it ❤

First playthrough of Baldur's Gate near launch was a truly unique experience. Being incapable of googling a solution to most of the problems the game threw at you meant everyone was going to come to there own unique solutions to any situation. I'm playing Divinity OS 2 right now and sometimes I become too afraid of missing stuff that I google where it may be or how to solve certain puzzles that stumped me. If I were to be honest thought picking tactician on my first run probably wasn't the smartest idea.

I think everyone should save scum at least a bit on their first playthrough so they get the outcome they’re most satisfied with the first time through. Then replayability is enhanced by letting the chips fall where they will on the next run and seeing things you may have missed in your quest for perfection. I have 323 hrs in the game and I haven't been to Act II yet. Because of my own restarts and multiple attempts at getting a multiplayer game going. I had a very very hard time deciding on what race/class to play for my "perfect" solo run. On the plus side I've seen Act 1 so many times it's given me huge appreciation for the variety and reactivity of the game. You can play Act 1 20 times and see new dialog/cut scenes every time.

I have deleted save files that spanned hours long just so I could redo a whole act because I didn't like the ending or I missed one side quest. For restarters, the joy is in the journey, not the conclusion. I don't want my experience to end, so I don't end it. I just start a new experience and switch back and forth occasionally. For a while I did want to die at the idea of being forced through Act 1 and 2 all over again for a new playthrough, but over time I grew to appreciate it so much for how much replayability it has.

​@Namelessstew I also want to point out with thw different choices and alignments, an action can change people opinion, it has long term consequences too so you get lots of different things just by that alone, if youre good try an evil playthru and you will see what i mean. It can open up different quests depending on who you talk to and how. I have lots of plays, active ones are around 7 I think, but I likely have around 20 play thrus and not all are complete. I also mod too so new encounters were added and my tav is assamar in my newest. I kinda hit all the types of players and then some 😅

Starting with putting my stock of explosives and grease bottles on the table in front of him and initiating the fight with a bombing. I finished the fight thanks to his brother enraging and keeping him stuck in a corner and my last character alive shooting arrows at his resurrected healer ghouls before hiding behind a pillar each turn 🤣 I used a lot of potions, antidotes, spell scrolls, grenades/vials and special arrows. I hope Lady Shar was pleased that I stopped him from desecrating her beautiful temple 😎

Save-scumming is the way to go for anyone out there that truly wants to enjoy the game. You are not playing a Larian RPG to just "go with the flow of failures". There are already tons of "Souls games" out there for that kind of mindset.

I restarted as soon as i heard he ate magical items, avoided him like the plague after that. Same with the vampire i was like nope no bites in my sleep. But the hardest to avoid is probably either the one that you meet in the first few min of the tutorial or shadowheart. However now knowing i get enchanted everywhere that are useless ill let gale in my next run. My first play thru only had wyll and karlach with a wither fill in. oddly i still dont know what sould coins do for karlach as i was in a good guy play thru and i didnt think a good guy be doing that to someones heart that might explode.@@darknoob89 PS i romanced karlach and went with her to hell. I'm a DnD veteran. I was really hyped to play a Cleric of Sune, only to be heartbroken that she's not available, and no modders have added her either. So I tried a warlock, and realized that since my tables almost always long rest between every encounter, I never realized just how good a warlock is when played as intended. I already liked warlock, but now I love it. I've already played warlock twice in BG3 now. It's now tied with Cleric for my favorite class.

I find it every time I roll a charisma based character, I cannot Help but to grab at least 2 Levels of Warlock. That Eldridge blast just can't be beat when it comes to Dealing damage as a charisma character. However this play through I Am currently doing the adjuration wizard Tank one level of Fighter 1 level of warlock all the rest into wizard. And I gotta say it's living up to it reputation. My character has only died thanks to a long string of non-stop debus being slammed on to him to a point where I couldn't control him anymore Afterwards he was quite literally dogpiled by wolves In the gift Yankee crash

Dude same. Typically with games, I tend to only play them once through because (and this is the same with like movies and shows too) it becomes a little boring going through it again when I already know what the story is and what’s going to happen. That leads me to try to do EVERY single thing I can the first time so I can experience everything once and call it a day. The trouble with this game - and it’s something that might actually make me interested in playing a second time - is that there’s just SO MUCH stuff to do and it affects the game DRASTICALLY. So who knows…

I started my first playthrough and scrapped it when I hit act 3 because I learned that I basically abandoned/killed most of the companions. I never met Astarion or Karlach or Wyll in Act 1 and Halsin died while I was clearing the goblin camp. I managed to stick with it for all of Act 2 and part of Act 3. Decided to look at some BG3 content and realized how much I have actually missed. I should have ignored this stuff. I used to be obsessed with NVs and choice-based RPGs and this game has scratched an insane itch that I have had for years.

I feel like the best way to play a game like this for beginners (or what I’m doing at least) is to just focus on quests. That way, you won’t be overwhelmed right away and you just have one objective. Then, once you’ve played for a few hours, any time you have a question of “hey I wonder if I can do this thing” or “I wonder what’s over in this area” then go ahead and give it a try and see what works and what secrets you can discover. Don’t get too caught up in learning the deep mechanics of combat or how to best min/max your character. Leave that to the KZbinrs lol.

I am new to BG3 but for some unknown reason, I, an experienced hoarder who used cheese and cabbage over healing potions in Skyrim until I reached max level, use every scroll, arrow and other finite consumables I can find. Baldur's Gate 3 just hits different. I feel that every fight is as important to the plot and gameplay as if it was the final bossfight. When I needed to deal with goblins at the shattered sanctum I even used my fireball scroll just to take out 3 goblins in 1 hit. Normally, I would've never used it on an enemy with less than 150 hp but I used it on goblins with 10 times less than that! This game is something else, I'm telling you

I’m not usually a cheeser, but I absolutely DOMINATED the Gortash fight by way of cheesing. I didn’t even use barrels or any of the other unorthodox methods you mentioned, I literally just waited outside the door with my hastened up Jaheria and my summoned Fire Mymirdons and absolutely beat his ass the moment he walked out. Absolute classic, even got a rare achievement for it!

Definitely an Explorer. Never liked turn based games or table tops bc it was always too confusing as a kid and I stuck with that notion without trying it out again until now (I’m 21). I love to read and write especially fantasy and Skyrim is probably one of my all time favorite games. I only found this game because ppl were talking about it as a dating sim on TikTok and as a sucker for romance I wanted to try it out too and figure out the mechanics as I went. Turned out to be the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Absolutely fell in love with this game and it’s lore and the characters. The freedom and diversity of choices that actually matter and how every play through is completely unique to everyone was like a wet dream for someone who played Skyrim and the sims religiously as a child. Definitely deserved game of the year I hope more people take a chance on BG3 bc unless you literally just don’t read it’s such a great game overall.

I'm glad to say that I am a veteran. My years of playing DND prepared me well for this game, and I'm pleased to say that my first playthrough as a Tiefling Fiend Warlock went great. Currently doing a second playthrough as a Dragonborn Way Of The Four Elements Monk (so happy the subclass got buffed in BG3 compared with its 5e counterpart). Can't believe how much new stuff I'm discovering on my second time, this game is simply fantastic!

might as well just play any caster if you're using way of the 4 elements. way of open hand gets upgraded flurry of blows. i'm playing as golden dragonborn tavern brawler monk using way of the open hand, with first level in fighter for the armor/shield proficiency and fighting style (defense), and 3 levels in rogue thief for that extra bonus action for 2 flurry of blows per turn. so 1 fighter/8 monk/3 rogue.

This video is hilarious and really really accurate, but I find myself in a weird position since what I believe is my category is missing. The roleplayers or as I like to call them "fashionistas" that would rather use an uncommon plate armor than let's say the Helldusk armor set just because their paladin would never wear an armor with that aesthetic. I think they're the opposite than the min-maxers and they'd love if the game added a "change appearance" feature to items even though it's completely inappropriate in a game like this

they already have a mod for that and i use it myself. originally it was to change out the look of that adamantine splint armor because it sadly has a visual bug at the area above the boots and it really bothered me. hopefully they fix that. as for changing the appearance of armor and calling it inappropriate, i dont see how you could say that. armor historically isnt some pair of shoes at payless that you just try on and then buy if it works for you. its always been something VERY specially designed and tailored for each inidividual. its part of the reason you mostly only ever saw nobles rock plate armor as its partly very expensive for that very reason. and then afterwards if they have the money for it, will customize its appearance and style to suit their fashion, taste, or to represent their family/house. to say that a devotion paladin of tyr would just roll with rocking some devil-looking plate without modifying and changing it up themeselves is what would truly be completely innappropriate. Ultimately, regardless of whatever side of this arguement a persons on, its a video game. games are supposed to be fun. and these characters are what youre going to be staring at 99% of your experience in it. if changing their aesthetics to suit your visual preferance positively impacts your experience, then there's nothing wrong here. when i transmog swaped out my admantine splint armor look for just simple plate armor for my paladin, i was perfectly happy with that as it looks far better and more appropriate for her theme i want to go with on her than that buggy piece with floating boots...

i mean...there is a lot of plot and story to be had between scenes, so you'll be a lot more disappointed if all you wanted was smut. If you want action early, just focus on astarion. If you want something more, enjoy the adventure and the slow burn of some of the other characters. A dating sim is just shallow teenage story with a bunch of guys and the romance is the game and plot, this feels better to me, particularly since you can just avoid romance altogether if you like. I feel like the romance is a big part of the story and so I indulge in it (after all, it's more content) but it don't need to be a dating sim to have fun XD

Omg, you described Min-Maxing and Restarter perfectly! I'm just like that! In Min-Maxing part, the only spreadsheet I got are a checklist of all the quests, sub-quests, items, gear, inspirations, and traders. In the Restarters part, I've only ever restarted in BG3 (don't see how you can restart any other game except for GTA 5) also that Karlach part was on target XD Though I broken the restarting cycle! I appreciate your description of save scummers because I've had people get mad at me for reloading when I accidentally lose a companion (as in permanently, not like they die in combat and need a revivify). I dont consider that scummy. Each companion plays a big part in the story.

I would also say that reloading during a combat encounter you know you are going to lose in the long run isn't scumming either. I have a lot of free time, but even I don't have the time to spend 20 minutes losing a combat encounter.

If you get into a combat situation you know you can't win, it becomes wasteful and its not enjoyable. I had someone get after me for reloading when all 3 companions died in fire and I didn't have revivify scrolls and the last character left was low on health. There's an unhealthy obsession with the concept of "save scumming" 😮‍💨

I am mostly an explorer. I am 60 years old and usually play stuff like Sims 4. I bought BG3 after watching MadMorph play it. I swore it was not my type of game but became so invested in the story that I had to have a go (even bought a new computer cos mine was ancient). I have over 350 hours under my belt (I have had it for a month!), I have restarted about 7 times and still don't fully understand the mechanics but am slowly getting better at the fights. My main game is in Act 3 where I have come to an impasse as regards the decision to be made on fighting the Brain so started a new game. I play as a Druid, sometimes an Outlander but I prefer Urchin. I tried playing as a Wizard to get new dialogue and interactions but missed my Thorn carpet too much. The game is full of bugs and I hate... absolutely hate the dice throwing but, and I cannot over emphisise this enough, I love the game. The Raphael fight was a totally joyous thing to behold (even though it took 3 or 4 attempts). I'm afraid it has taken over my life, all my other games seem so blah now. So, I have finished eating my dinner now and am going back to Faerun, it is 5 o'clock and I only have 6 hours to play before I have to go to bed! Happy gaming everyone xxx

Awesome to hear! It’s really an amazing game. Cool to see you’re enjoying it. My first play through was as Druid I’d recommend bard a lot they have the most interesting dialogue options, and will easily talk their way through annoying dice rolls.

@@ProxyGateTactician How do they fight though? I tried playing as a cleric but was so underwhelming that I kept dying in the Ancient Ruins! My first attempt was as a Rogue and died on the ship hahahaha. I find the Druid to be a good all-rounder.xxx

@@sharonbunn2363 if you go a swords bard they’re really good at using crossbows. Which sounds weird but it works. Other bard types are great support (you get an extra short rest even)

A big problem is that they didn't make the difficulty scalable enough to cater to both min maxers and roleplayers who are good at the game. So if you play a roleplay build on tactician it makes the game a lot longer and more linear as you're looking for every encounter that can give that precious xp

@@artenderer I've finished the game now so I have Meta game knowledge so it's too easy. But unlike wrath of the righteous you can't toggle individual options to make the game challenging to you, with the difference between tactician and balanced being vast. My suggestion to them was to have a separate option with reduced rewards for sleeping as you can sleep per fight once you know which quests are timed and they actively reward that with how they gated the plot behind resting

Veteran here. BG1 and BG2 holds nothing but amazing memories for me as a kid. Adcentures in the forgotten realms along the Sword Coast were some of my only forms of escape from a hellish reality.

Im more of a roleplayer...making a character that fits into a specific role or style and playing that role through dialogue and actions. First run im playing a paladin, i like how I need to play within the oath. Definitely will do another run with something wildly different next.

I have such a savescumming issue, it’s not in combat so much (unless I’m almost dead and my character hitting the shot would end the battle) but I keep having to remind myself that I don’t need to pass every check and it’s okay to fail sometimes 😭😭

11:00 I did the shar gauntlet without any cheats, unless you count cheaters folly from attacking your non-self counterpart. but it felt satisfying completing those tests. only time i looked at a guide was when I had accidentally dropped an orb that was needed to complete the mission. turns out I had left it on the stairs of the room where you attack yourself.

Looking at the comment section, I'm surprised at how few veterans there are! I felt so called out. I went into BG3 with a plan and stuck to it. Yes, my inventory is full of scrolls and potions for when I need them, and I hate looking up solutions for puzzles so I do tend to get stuck on them longer than I think most people would tolerate!

I laughed on the no read part as I'm often in that category at first. Then wonder what did I do wrong and over time get into the Veteran / Min-Maxer. Especially the first boss encounter during the tutorial I didn't read anything at all only to realize that guy was 1-shotting all my characters. Only difference is that after 2 character were wiped out, I decided to make a run for the transponder thinking this is ridiculous (vaguely remembering that the transponder was the actual goal). I also took 30 minutes trying to figure out how to free a certain character out of a pod because I didn't read anything at all and didn't want to leave them there thinking if I go any further they'd be stuck there forever with no way back to that area...

Pure restarter here lol. My goal is to progress each class individually to enjoy each major plot point every possible way. It lets me really chew the scenery and appreciate the incredible craftsmanship while avoiding distant spoilers.

I’m both the cheeser and the min-maxer. I will never stop. I live in fear of the day I get invited to do multiplayer and I don’t get to be a control freak over my own save file.
