In this scene: Elizabeth (Christina Ricci), Donald (Nicholas Campbell), Mrs. Wurtzel (Jessica Lange)
About Prozac Nation:
When talented young writer Elizabeth Wurtzel earns a scholarship to Harvard, she sees it as her chance to escape the pressures of her working-class background and concentrate on her true talent. But what starts out so promising leads to self-destructive behavior and paralyzing depression that reflects an entire generation's struggle to navigate the effects of divorce, drugs, sex, and high expectations.

“I’m not your god damn monkey” is my personal mantra, and has been for a while now. That moment was so unfiltered and raw. I can’t imagine it with any other actresses.

Why does this remind me of my childhood my dad left my mum with bills and always went off to the pub to drink. Ever since he left me as a baby sitting on stairs. My mum has raised me by herself and as well as my big sister and my little half sister. She never spends any money on herself but always makes sure we are happy. I love my mum 🥰

Gee your daughter is suffering from major depression and your greater concern is not, your child's illness or her long term well-being oh no, it is more important to inspire guilt in said daughter over what her depression costs you to pay for theraphy.

@102666502406009491311 No, she was using how much therapy cost to blame her ex-husband and attempts to create guilt in her daughter for wanting a relationship with her father. This scene was a mother punishing her child for being disloyal for loving the other parent after the divorce, a daughter who could easily become self-harming because of said depression. Her parents have been fighting over the cost of therapy, her whole childhood it had become a hogan's goat, a red herring which they used to punish each other in the divorce! Her father is not a pedophile or child abuser, and or not safe for her to be around. No, he is an interested father who is proud of his daughter's gifts. He just was not a very good husband, those are not reasons to deprive your very sick daughter of a positive relationship. Her daughter is sick and needs the support of everyone that cares about her to RECOVER. By the way the mother would feel better and recover if she would actually sleep in late, instead of spying on her daughter's phone calls, instead her priority was laying in bed waiting for her ex to call, so she could throw a fit for her daughter daring to love her own father. They divorced, a child is not supposed to chose between one's parents to prove loyalty to either parent!

@Poison_Ivy22
@Poison_Ivy22 7 жыл бұрын
Karen Lacey i can see her mothers point of view. It was pretty much all on her to deal with Lizzie and to get her well bc the father never helped or did his part. She was alone and suffering from depresaion too and didn't have time to help herself bc she had to take care of Lizzie first. But one thing I will dissagree is that if Lizzie wants somewhat a relationship with her father then the mom needs to respect that instead of making her feel guilty for missing him.
