Hello SungWon, I have never been into board games, and never owned anything above the basic scrabble or monopoly. I played Catan once and really enjoyed it, which left me so surprised that board games didn’t have to be so bland (and that they could be so expensive!). Through lockdown I discovered your board game series, especially the ones along with your dear wife. And they inspired me to purchase my first game, Azul! I have ADHD and I’m trying to get through med school, the lockdown really fcked with me, because I became so addicted to my smartphone and to the dopamine rush I lost track of real life and literally lost all motivation to do much in terms of my college life, because we had a long hiatus from the hospital, before being called in for emergency duty. My life was an utter mess, but then I gradually managed to wean myself off my screen dependent dopamine rush and slowly return to using my brain and getting involved with real life because I managed to supplement my entertainment with board games! I’m eternally grateful to you! My collection now includes Catan, Wingspan, Terraforming Mars, the Crew, Forbidden island Architects and Coup! I do wish you all the best. Special love prayers and good vibes for you.

Can't wait for games like A Feast For Odin, Burgle Bros, and Isle of Cats to get released to the main site. Congrats and keep the board game content coming!

The funny thing about president is that, I played it for years before learning its real name, when my friends taught it to me they basically called it "the biggest Moron" (but in spanish) so instead of being named after the 1st place they named it after the last place (and yes, the next lowest player was the Vice-Moron)

We call it "Direktor und Arsch" So "Manager and Ass" So best of both worlds, I guess! That said, the rules are slightly slightly different between the rules of "Arschloch" The person playing the first card can't put a card on top anymore for example. This gives the last player the chance to trump and go first next, because there's literally no chance that a higher ranked player comes again. In Arschloch you play until everyone passed. The seating order actually matters and you change positions based on the finishing order every turn. In Arschloch, you just stay where you are. But when switching you know who comes after you and when. Lowest, i.e. not worst, cards are getting exchanged with highest cards depending on your position. In Arschloch the Highranking player can just give whatever cards suit him best. When you have 4 twos you don't really want to give away 3 of them and keep a single one, but maybe give away a 3 and two 4s for example. Not here, those three 2s are going regardless. The low ranking players have to give their highest cards obviously. I don't know about president, but it sounded like the high ranks just steal from the low ranks two cards? The way we play it depending on the amount of players, more cards get exchanged. Going from the middle you exchange one card per rank. So with 6 players first and last trade three cards, the next trade two cards, then one card. With 4 players only two and one cards are getting exchanged, but with 8 players UpTo four cards are getting exchanged. And so on Uneven player numbers have a player that doesn't exchange at all. That said, we don't have special deck or game for it just grab a regular old card deck. 53 cards. Four suits, Ace to King, 3 Jokers. To many players? Grab a second deck! I believe we once played it with three decks and like 12 people lol

My favourite board games from Board Game Arena: 1. Seasons, Sort of mean and imbalanced but otherwise super fun and awesome mechanics 2. Coloretto, Super simple but really engaging and unique card game about collecting different color chameleons and balancing when and how many you do 3. PI, A detective deduction game that's about trying to figure out a crime, criminal and location based on clues collected 4. Buttons, a game about assembling different colored buttons in a line to win, but the way you place your buttons can end up hurting you for a turn if not careful 5. Concept, this is sorta like charades/draw and guess but with a board of various icons, different colored tokens and with a bit of creativity a way to distribute/stack those tokens on top of the icons to bring about a certain meaning 6. Cats, Sorta like liars dice but with cards and a Schrödingers cat motive which is very charming. Basically you have cards that represent cats alive, dead, an empty box or a "heisenberg" which represents a wild card (i.e. either alive or dead) 7. Gaia, a truly fun and different world creation game where how and what you play affects your influence in the world as you play against your opponent 8. Hanabi, a cooperative game about assembling fireworks where you can see everyone elses hand besides your own. Oh, and no one can say a word, and through playing cards alone you have to coordinate colors and numbers played accordingly 9. Tokaido, a game about traveling through the island of Japan and trying to be the one that experiences and gathers the most on their journey, the key mechanic here is that the one most behind is the turn player always These are the games I remember best, but there's tons of cool stuff in there. I remember quite a while ago when that site had a modest amount of games and barely anyone knew about it. I'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves.

Thank you for doing this video. I have a premium membership on Board Game Arena but have only played 2-3 games. This week I started searching for games to play with my adult children during our weekly call and it occurred to me that I should give the site another try (I can only play Jackbox games so many times!). You've given us several to try. The thing I like about Board Game Arena over other sites like Tabletopia is that it makes it easier for me and my kids to learn games we've never played before because a lot is automated. I gave up on Tabletopia (which, admittedly, is prettier) because trying to learn the controls AND learn the game sucked all the fun out of playing.

I’m developing a war game right now and videos like this make me want to develop 20 more games. I really do just like the variety you have shown and giving excerpts of what each game is and how it plays. After writing this I’m going to sketch out a game based around drafting, farmers, and sorta mystical elements. And the game in my head plays on a 3 tiers system first tier would be resources, second tier is farmers and workers with higher value resources, and top tier is very expensive cards but very useful cards that are used to win the game. The game would be best played with 4 people as the mystical element would be used to destroy your opponents resources and farmers. The game is also a draft heavy game so each game you will in theory have a different deck and strategy. This lose game concept was formulated in the time it took to watch the video. Due to the fact that I have not really been exposed to many board games growing up. So yes, thank you for the video.

Nice challenge! I will go for Perudo as I love liars dice but I didn't know it was there. I will check out New frontiers as I love Roll & Race ftg. One thing I disagree I really don't like "Welcome to" which was awful and I will never play again.
