@@PJandtheBeard yeah! It definitely stood out from grey & blue which were the other two they had at the shop. I’m really glad PRS included a fun color in the lineup

Been playing one since June 18th, can’t put it down. I have a stable of Fenders and for some reason have just fallen for the sound and feel of the NF3. It just fits and feels naturally clean. Run it through a Fender Twin Reverb and Tone King Sky King wet/dry. Lot of bang for the buck with this one. Metallic Orange w/submissive graphics.

Sounds like it would be hard to sound bad with that rig! I am sure those amps make a glorious tone together.

We might have to get in an orange with rosewood at some point. I wonder if there is a noticeable difference in sound between the maple and rosewood necks. I feel like maple is snappier, but that could be all in my head.

Thought so too with the dark rosewood neck and black pick guard.😁

I've got gun metal gray with a rosewood fretboard. Upgraded to locking tuners today. Definitely a keeper. The tone knob lets you get a nice variety of sounds.
@PJandtheBeard3 ай бұрын
Good point. I work the volume knob constantly but don’t spend enough time working the tone knob.
@andrewbecker37003 ай бұрын
Chose the same options for mine. I'm gonna do some custom wiring on it. I'd much rather have bridge and neck in the 2nd position. Also gonna upgrade the tone capacitor and add a treble bleed curcuit. Very happy with mine. It doesn't need any major parts upgraded. That rare at this price.
@PJandtheBeard3 ай бұрын
@@andrewbecker3700 I thought there wasn’t a treble bleed in these. I feel like PRS normally has one.
@andrewbecker37003 ай бұрын
@@PJandtheBeard Haven't opened mine up yet, but I didn't see anything extra in there on Trogley's review. I'm not a fan of modern wiring unless it's got a treble bleed. It just makes the volume and whole guitar so much more versatile. Yeah, quite a few PRS's have them stock. 50's wiring is my personal preference, but with single volume and tone pots. Modern wiring is the obvious choice.

First time viewer, I really like the video. That’s an instant sub. I love this PRS SE NF3, I was already a big fan of the NF3 an DC3 when they were released, and I bought a Brent Mason at the time to have the HSH setup, but right now, I would love both a SE Silver Sky and this SE NF3. Noiseless Pickups and 10” radius is actually what I wanted on the Silver Sky, that’s also why I prefer the SE Silver Sky over the US Core model, for the 8.5” radius. Now, my only question is to figure out if I want the SE SS or the SE NF3 first? Either way, I’m getting the SE NF3 Maple in Metallic Orange… it’s on my “next to purchase” list :)
@PJandtheBeard3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the sub. Appreciate it! I’m undecided on whether I like the silver sky or NF3 better. It’s a hard call.
@MrShaneConawayАй бұрын
What do you like best dgt se or nf3 se? I have a 91 custom and a core Mira. A tele and a 335. I usually play the 91 on gigs. Literally 1000’s. I’m itching for a new guitar . I’m getting scared about taking my old faithful to gigs. Was thinking the nf3 would be it but then there’s the dgt.
@PJandtheBeardАй бұрын
That's a hard question because they are pretty different. I really like the DGT and haven't spent much time with the NF3. Pat has played the NF3 a good bit since it came in. It is its own thing. Gets a bit strat like, but isn't one if you know what I mean. I am guessing the 91 custom is two humbuckers so the DGT might be the way to go, but you will need to get use to the wiring (which is why we changed ours). I don't know, my guess is you would be happy either way. Might be worth a trip to a store to try and get your hands on them.

@TheBbtlegit3 ай бұрын
I might have to get this one I already have the Silver Sky SE.
@Spidouz3 ай бұрын
I’ve watched a lot of the SE NF3 videos, and it sounds like it’s a fat dirtier Strat, while the SE SS will stay the best ‘63/64 Strat you can get for the money, which is brighter and snappier, while the NF3 looks to be smoother and a bit darker. So it’s NOT insane to believe one could get both in their (small) PRS collection, the SE SS and the SE NF3 looks to complete each others pretty well, to cover a larger tonal spectrum. I intend to get both too… I just don’t know which one to get first now, I was about to pull the plug on the SE SS, and noiseless pickups and 10” radius are actually the TWO major things I wanted for the Silver Sky. So I might get the SE NF3 first, in Maple and Metallica Orange color :)
@PJandtheBeard3 ай бұрын
They are definitely different enough to make owning both useful.
@spokes282 ай бұрын
It would have been nice to compare the two guitars as they were purchased. But not really possible with after market pickups in the DGT.
@PJandtheBeard2 ай бұрын
They are completely different animals too. The NF3 would be closer to the silver sky but it’s even pretty different from that. It really seems to be its own thing.
@jimmyjames20223 ай бұрын
Nice NF3 demo covers lots of tones! The Narrowfield 'S' Deep Dish are a unique sound- not mini humbucker, not single coil but a bit of both. The Grey model with the maple fretboard, white pickguard and black pup covers looks great. Not sure why PRS insists on calling this neck "wide thin", when it's pretty chunky compared to Fender or Gibson thin necks. Lots of folks get confused by that.
@PJandtheBeard2 ай бұрын
Yeah, the pickups are really their own thing. It’s not just a strat copy at all.

SE with coil split or SE nf3. Which one to go for better versatility?
@PJandtheBeard2 ай бұрын
Hard for me to recommend not knowing what you specifically like. I can say my favorite SE was the Paul’s guitar. I love the splitting options and loved the little toggles used to do that. PJ really loves the SE Silver Sky guitars. I’m not sure we have had the NF3 long enough to know. PJ played it live last week and it definitely sounded good from my side of the stage.

When I first saw the SE NF3 on launch day, I saw the Metallic Orange one on Andertons. I immediately went online to order that Metallic Orange one. My wife has been pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone with the colors. I ordered it, and then doubled back, not even an hour later, and changed the order to Gun Metal Gray with rosewood. I was feeling unadventurous when I switched the color, but the more I looked at the Metallic Orange, I pictured a confederate flag and a "01" decal on it like the "General Lee" from The Dukes of Hazzard. I'm glad that I switched to Gun Metal Gray. It seems like it's almost a shade of blue in person.

I chose the gun metal gray with the rosewood fretboard cause I wanted the white pickguard. The other colors mostly use the black pickguard.

Played many PRS, from SE to US Core and even Private Stock (not mine tho), and they’re all worth their price tag, but considering the law of diminishing returns. If you don’t care where the guitar is built from, then the SE are real good guitars to consider… they’re not sub par guitars, and you don’t have the feeling that you have the SE because you cannot afford the “real” PRS… it’s actually different. Here you could get the SE NF3 because it’s the only way (today) to get the NF3, and a US version wouldn’t provide much more (beside maybe locking tuners), everything else would be the same, flat top, pick guard, paint, etc… so what the US core models provide such violin carved top, beautiful wood top, etc… wouldn’t do much, so there’s no real point anymore for a US NF3.
