The vita is an amazing console, fully modular which means it's easy to replace any broken part, such a shame that sony abandoned it

Agreed! Separation of the main board from the left/right duaghter boards really does make most issues a fairly inexpensive fix. Not to mention the ZIF connections in lieu of direct soldering for many components.

What a great, informative video. This may give me enough confidence to replace my Vita's screen myself. I just ruined the screen of my 3 day old Vita, by blasting it with hot air from a blow-dryer, trying to heat up a screen protector's adhesive to hopefully realign it. Not the smartest decision. I ended up with faint, vertical lines all over the screen, which are probably from the adhesive Sony used between the digitizer and OLED panel. The Vita's infamous for these mura effects, but I actually managed to make them worse with my great plan.

Immaculate. I just put a replacement screen and back shell on my second hand scuffed psvita. The right bumper bracket (on the inside) was very tight to put on. And the top cartridge bar doesn't sit quite flush after reassembly. I suspect that the chinesium replication wasn't quite perfect on my digitiser. One method to try is to film yourself taking it apart. Then you can refer back to that footage during reassembly to make sure you don't miss anything. Great thing about the Vita is that all screws (with the exception of the few pink ones at the end) are the same, so you don't need to keep track of multiple piles of screws like you would working on a Nintendo unit.

@FantasticQuack11 ай бұрын
You can soak the sticker with alcohol on a q-tip to soften the adhesive for a couple min. Then carefully peel up on end with a razor blade and/or tweezers. Work slow to make sure the adhesive is staying on the label and not ripping off/stuck to handheld. Once it's lifted off just stick it down again to the new screen. Any wetness from the alcohol will evaporate

The screws that are holding down the 3g card are so tightly screwed. I’m having a hard time getting them off. Any tips?
@FantasticQuack2 жыл бұрын
Just need to test a few different sized screw drivers until you find the one that fits snug in the slot. Apply downward pressure when turning to avoid having the driver skip out and strip it. If you do strip the screw there are a couple techniques such as using the vampliers or dremel tool to cut a slot in the screw head and using a larger flat head to engage with the slot you just cut and turning the screw out. I have footage of the latter method succeeding (from a different unit where the screws were already completely stripped) but so far haven't made a video on this specific question.

Do you know how to fix the game card slot, my games Don't pop back out
@FantasticQuack3 жыл бұрын
I've never ran into that issue. It may be dirt/gunk clogging up the mechanism or worst case something inside it is broken.

Hello, ive replace my screen , i remove also both cameras and put them back again, but i got an error c4-2323-0 when starting the camera app. Any help? i've tried multiple times remove them and put them but no luck
@FantasticQuack Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you may have damaged the camera. I would very closely inspect the camera/flex cable and corresponding connectors for any damage. If there is no visible damage and you still can't get it working I would recommend ordering a replacement part.

Did you use an actual OLED replacement screen or did you go with an aftermarket LCD screen? All I can find are only ‚OLED LCD‘ screens, which seems like to be no actual OLED screens or am I wrong?
@FantasticQuack2 жыл бұрын
The person I was repairing it for provided the screen so I'm not 100% sure. Replacements in ebay listings claim to be OLED though.

I think I came back to it off camera but this is fair to point out. That piece is VERY easy to overlook. I've done 20-ish screen replacements at this point and at least twice I've had it fully assembled before realizing I missed that part and had to go back for it. I really should write myself a cheat sheet :) Luckily if you do miss it it's pretty inconsequential

if i dont use the camera do i have to put it back in? will i run into any software issues or warning issues? thanks
@FantasticQuack Жыл бұрын
I don't think it would cause any issues beyond the camera not working but I can't guarantee that. Unless the camera was damaged or lost I'd recommend putting it back in whether or not you use it.

How hard Is It? Let's Say i already opened small consoles like the 3ds
@FantasticQuack2 жыл бұрын
To me working on a Vita is easier than a 3DS if for no other reason than that the screws are easier to work with. 3DS uses tiny JIS screws which look like Philips head but are not, and thus it's easy to think you have the correct bit and then end up stripping it. Furthermore the Vita has like 2 screw types across the entire unit. Whereas 3DS (and anything else Nintendo) has multiple different sizes and head types (i.e. triwing). In any case, you need to be comfortable with ZIF connector latches and organization so that you remember how to put things back together. I myself have failed in the organization front and have sometimes had to look back on my own footage of a soon-to-be video to remember how something went back together. Hope my rambling helps, wish you the best in your repairs!

Do you guys think its doable for a engineering noob such as myself to do both the screen an shell replacement without completetly ruining my console?
@FantasticQuack Жыл бұрын
You don't need to be an engineer to do this, all you need is care and patience. Also, if you are replacing the screen, at that point you are already 95% of the way there on disassembly to replace the whole shell.
