PS3 Store is Cross Buy with PS5!

Hey all, I want to correct myself in this video where I state that Twisted Metal Black is cross buy between PS3 and 5. From my findings, I can confirm that the only PS2 game that is currently cross buy between PS3/4/5 is Siren. It seems that if the PS2 game shows PS4 and PS5 on its listing then it is cross buy. If anyone else has any more information to add on this please do!

This only works for PS1 games and PS2 games made for the new emulator on the PS4/5. PS2 Classics from the PS3 don't count towards the PS2 ports made on the original PS4's PS2 emulator. I bought War of the Monsters on the PS3 back in the day, but I still have to pay $10 for the PS4 version on PSN.

it's insane to me that this wasn't unilaterally case at the launch of the ps4 with all or at least most ps3 games that were available digitally, it's massively greedy too bc a lot of these damn games are upcharged on ps4/5 Jak and daxter 1-3 being $10 on ps3 and $15 for just one of those games on 4/5

This is honestly really awesome. Now, if Sony can somehow bring PS3 games to be playable on the next PSP or main console, maybe I can finally let go of my PS3. Until then, my lovely PS3 will be utilized until it's no longer serviceable.

I owned oddworld abe's oddysee for a year or two on ps5 and I didn't see the crossbuy. and yes, it was the original, though I also own new and tasty, which was always crossbuy. is classic crossbuy new?

From my understanding, it is relatively new. You see, most games required the premium subscription in order to play. But as of recently, a lot more of those games have become available to purchase without the subscription. When that happened, If you had purchased them on PS3 then they became cross buy. For example, Dino crisis and Resident Evil only became cross buy as of November 26th.

On PS3, it’s the dual shock version with the funny music. But on PS5, it’s the normal version. Kind of cool how you get two slightly different versions for the same purchase.

PS5 has the normal music and PS3 has the weird stuff. I just finished Chris on PS3 and started advanced on PS5, its cool to see the differences in the music like the save room theme being so eerie on the dualshock version.

Is this just a NA thing at the moment? I have both the Ratchet and Clank and Jack and Daxter trilogies on my ps3 (currently installed too) but when I search them on ps5 they don’t give me the option to download them. I’m EU region.

These aren't cross buy as there is no option on PS5 to outright purchase them. The only way is to play them on PS5 is to a have PS Plus Premium subscription which then allows you to stream them. My speculation is that one day when they become available to purchase and own on PS5, you will then be entitled to them since you bought on PS3.

I have bout ratchet and clank size matter on my vite 2 years ago, now when it became available on ps5 it shows me an error so i cant download-it or even buy it again

@ I actually did that yesterday preparing for the upcoming sly 2 and 3 so i bought them, only the ratchet size matters the one that has an issues. Dexter was the same but no issues downloaded free

It's such a shame we didn't have a Sony handheld sooner. I get they wanted to focus on the more successful PS4, not to mention making PS Vita games are just diet PS3 games which costs a lot to make, but they completely let Nintendo have the entire handheld market by not continuing to support the PS Vita a few years after its launch or making a successor. That said I expect the new Sony handheld will just be a portable PS4 Pro/Xbox One at the very least.

Sony gave up on the Vita early, but consumers didn’t support it like they should’ve. All of a sudden, people beckon for a Sony handheld when most of those people never even bought a Vita at launch!

@@lesterbronson2385 Vita sold very well but had poor reputation due to expensive memory cards which costed insanely high compared to a regular memory card.. Plus, half of the games at launch was just mobile games ported to psvita..like asphalt which was on iphone at the time.. but gotta admit, its such a great gaming device at the time..shame that sony went the high root to cost memory cards too high.

No, because the Sly Collection is a PS3 game and PS3 games can only be streamed using the PlayStation plus premium subscription. One day if the game becomes available to just purchase and play without the subscription/streaming, then I believe it will be cross buy. But this is only if Sony creates a PlayStation 3 emulator for the PlayStation 5. Sort of confusing, hopefully that makes sense!

I bought tekken 2 in 2009 that doesn’t make that game your free on PS5 it’s going to tell you it’s yours if your premium member don’t know why but that’s how it works if it says you can buy it for $9.99 it’s not yours no reason to buy a game that doesn’t have trophies 🏆
