Yeah same bro, I've just ordered one for £17 the 2nd hand market for the 30th anniversary controllers is crazy people have scalped them, I'm not paying double and some but the AliExpress replacements look bang on, you gotta remember it's all made in china anyway even if they're knock off they're pretty much identical, they've even gone as far as to put the 30th in the grip which you can barely see to the naked eye I think I prefer those grey controllers with og buttons than the PS5 white ones I think I'm going to use the non glossy ones in mine

you don't have to detach all the ribbons just take out the screws and battery the whole board comes off as one piece but be very careful with the touch pad part

Due to this Great Video. I have done 3 of my PS5 Controllers, Now I have a Actually Red aka Scarlet Red Controller. Mine actually looks better than the Cosmic Red Original Controller. I used Extremerate for my Controller Parts. Literally switch the inside of the PS5 Controller, put all the guts in a new body. Need to do a video and post it one day.

I did this and my controller wont charge or light up at all. Everything is plugged in to my knowledge and put just as it was taken apart. What could the problem be?

So I have a quick question, I was taking apart my controller and as I was taking off the first ribbon cable to free the back plate for the battery, the actual white part itself came up with it and as I was putting it back on one of the little gold pieces fell out. The PS4 buttons work in the Dualsense , but I'm not sure if they will work with the clicky button set, sorry. I'm sure if you contact ExtremeRate on twitter they could help.

This is a good video but I lost functionality of my controller through no fault of my own. I didn't have a heat gun so I still have silver for my touch pad. I also tore both of the microphone ribbons so I no longer have a mic. Besides that it's fine. I can still use it no problem and since I have a headset I am not worried about the mic.

Good guide, but replacing a controller shell isn't worth it. Too much work, too high a risk. If it were equivalent to changing PS5 console faceplates, would've been worth it.

First off thank you for uploading this very descriptive video. Quick question for you. I’m hydro dipping the original case and I’m wondering if I can hydro dip the touchpad afterwards as well. If properly treated I think it should work but I can’t find any awnsers on this touchy (no pun intended) issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I did use spray paint to make a black controller in another video and the touch pad worked fine after a few layers of paint and matt coats of varnish. I cant see why hydro dipping the plastic part of the touchpad would cause it not to work.

This is really a video showing you how to replace the front and back, and buttons if you want. If you just want to replace the back part of the shell you only need to do the first couple of steps and put a new back on.

You'd be better off to customise one on the website. You'll be fine. Just watch it step by step and pause when necessary. I've taken apart the 360 controller once and trust me that's more fiddly than this. I've successfully done the dualsense now but I missed out the screws behind L2 and R2 because it's so difficult to put back. I would've had to take the whole thing apart again just for the screws. So hopefully it should be fine without them (unless you rage at games).

Yeah I agree, Sony made things alittle bit more complicated just to replace front shell, the whole back and the little shell at the bottom looks like the most easiest thing to replace, on the xbox one x/ series x controller you can easily replace front and back and the Motherboard part is all in one piece instead of trying to take apart all this stuff
