The thing with getting someone else to do it, you pay for their time as well as their skills. Also for that particular repair business, they have to get some sort of profit off of the work, otherwise what's the point in even doing it? lol You'll often see the Part cost + Margin + Tax (at least in the UK) + Labour (Time & skills) cost + Tax. Providing you are capable and feel up to any challenge, you can always save money by doing it yourself.

My PS5 PSU failed after a lightning strike. Managed to get a psu from Ebay and the other accessories from amazon, including the magnetic screw mat. This tutorial was a life saver, i’ve never done anything similar to this fix and following carefully the video i was able to change the PSU and now my PS5 is working fine again. Thanks!

It isn't hard. Just take it slow. Pause the video every step and follow along. Also buy a surge protector. You can get them for as low as $10 and they will save your electronics.

Advice to new people: make sure you take pictures with every removal of a plate/cover of something and circle where the screws go on the photo lol. Although I had the same kind of power supply, my PS5 looked different inside. It didn't look exactly like his. In the end, the surgery was a success!

Im doing this currently. I have a full torqs set and none of the screws were the same. Different sizes, different types. We had sent off this ps5 for repair, it sat for a month before it was worked on too close to its expiration date and was then denied before any work was done on it. We were told it had been disassembled before the rejection but not fixed. If youre buying a ps5, the insurance is not worth it just get it off a scalper. It is both cheaper and more reliable to do it yourself.

@@MegatronJon8 you have to take them off the power supply you already have. They are called “Bluetooth wifi antennas”. The metal clip they are connected to are a clip that can be taken off and exchanged

so about a couple days ago i woke up to a popping sound and i figured it came from my ps5 since when i went to check on it a a burnt plastic smell was coming directly from it. i had to disassemble it and checked on the motherboard and luckily it wasn't damaged so when i got to the PSU i noticed the smell was stronger there. i'm ordering a new one in a couple of days and wanted to ask if the 2 thin cables attached to the psu also come with the new one or will i have to learn to do that myself?

what power supply did everyone get? This just happened to me and I am raging lol. Played 3 hours of Space Marines 2 on Thursday and today is Saturday I go to turn my system on and no power at all. luckily it turned on for 6 seconds and was able to get the disc out. What's the bare minimum reassembly to check if the replacement power supply work? I only put a couple screws in to secure the mobi and plugged all the cables back in and im not getting any power. I don't really have any way of knowing if I got a bad replacement or my PS5 is just hopeless as far as I know. I don't want to fully reassemble the ps5 without knowing of ot will work. I plugged in everything including the fan and disc drive. I just didnt mount them back into place. I made sure twice that the mobo is plugged securely into the new psu, but im not getting any power at all

Update: I decided to see if Sony could do anything so I sent my console to them and they replaced it with a new one for free. I didn't do much gaming on it and a lot of my saved data was through ps plus online storage which helped massively. A month or so in with my new PS5 and I've had no issues since

I have purchased a PS5 on Japan. The manual book states that it require 100v as input voltage but I have seen few video of PSU replacement and noticed that PSU is dual.voltage (220-240 & 100-120v) Where I live we do have 220V How do o know of I can still use it without burning it ? If it’s the same model of power supply then yes it’ll work. I have the newest model of the ps5 which uses a adp-400df unfortunately no one has uploaded a repair on my model. It looks pretty different then this older model

Most likely power supply is fried and most likely the main board depends on how much it can take

I forgot to turn off my outlet, when i plugged my PS5 powercord into the back of the PS. This made a slight electrical noise/crackle, when i inserted the cord. Could it have harmed anything inside the PS5 or am i just overthinking? :)

@@123456rocketboyjerry Yeah found out all it would do is maybe slightly quicker wear on the contact prongs, but that's only if you make a habit of doing it 😅 I just thought maybe the electrical arcs could do some kind of damage to the internals, but the arcs are lower voltage and well the power cable can only pull so much from the wall 😁

No, and the one I have the power supply is different also. I have a disk and non disk version of the PS5. And plug in hole for power supply that plugs into the board is on the bottom in the middle. Not all the way on the bottom at the far right side.
