Dying light 1 is in the top ten for me last gen for example. Smaller exclusives like alienation and helldivers 1 got shamefully overlooked because they weren't AAA.

@@Pow3r-Up Nope. OLED is not just blacks, it is about dynamic range. HDR with infinite contrast will give a much better picture compared to a bit better graphics. Many PC gamer will miss true picture quality while playing on small IPS screens with low pic quality. It will look so much better, that not a single graphical improvements will match it.

Stellar blade, rise of ronin, alan wake 2, silent hill 2.. I could go on but all these games have pro support and came out recently. We then have metal gear solid snake eater remake, death stranding 2, wolverine, etc, which will be coming out within the next few years, and they're pro enhanced.

Most of the games struggling to keep 60 would probably be 55-60 on ps5 pro. We would probably get a locked 120fps mode on shooters and racers Along with pssr up scaling

Completely agree. 60 fps as the baseline then build your game from there. I believe the biggest issue is devs are still trying to include last gen consoles, to cover the largest possible market. A lot of devs need to invest in new engines as well, but money is always the issue

The tech isn't their yet so 1080p 60fps should be the priority, even Playstations own data shows majority of players prefer performance mode over qaulity. Consoles are trying to compete against high-end PC hardware and are failing. 60fps has been the base for budget PC for over a decade now.

That only last for so long on the console’s unfortunately, as the games developed over time the more demanding they become. Games have to support multiple platforms too, so it’s harder to have the game optimised for one platform taking full advantage of the system like the good old days. Developers just don’t have the time or the resources.

The simple answer is NO - the PS5 Pro is not worth the price for the majority of fans. But that's not the PS5 Pro's fault - it's just the fact we have finally reached the point in gaming where it's really hard to make dramatic VISIBLE leaps - and the current generation PS5 will be enough for MOST people. Even the PS4 is still enough for some! The PS5 Pro is not a BAD product - it's an excellent product for the specific niche of console gamers who want to invest in the most powerful console on the market. If you're one of those people and have the money - it's a system worth buying. For the rest of us - it isn't. And to be honest - I don't blame Sony for that, I just blame the nature of diminishing returns in gaming technology. We have finally arrived at a generation where leaps aren't dramatic anymore and it's perfectly okay to stick with a slightly outdated system. The days of the leaps like NES to SNES to N64 are gone, my friends. It's sad but true!

The leaps are present. But in very few games.[alan wake 2 , cyberpunk 2077 max settings, black myth wukong though ue5]. Days are gone where every AAA developers had their inhouse engine and they revamped them. Now its just unreal engine that runs poorly except for youtube showcase. GTA 6 is an example of the visual fidelity developers could achieve if they stick with with current gen only [stop cross platform] and a target of 30 fps. Demanding 60 fps and also cross gen is not going to yield any current gen game. We would be getting only things like burnout revenge for x360. [its primarily a ps2 game with some improved fidelity and camera angles and features]

Lets just say that a good pc is backwards compatible which makes your older games brand new again ( go play Castlevania lords of shadow or Batman Arkham trilogy for example) you wont believe what you see, they look like currentgen games again. Well if you must play on console and have a very big TV and sit near to it that would be a reason to buy it, if money is not a concern. For me its not worth it playing on a 43inch TV 3 meters away and living in europe where PS5 pro with discdrive is around 1000 bucks atm (as the discdrives are scalped and PS5 without costs 799 Euro). And i have a stronger PC too if i really need better graphics than PS5 for a game.

so in germany, that thing costs 800 euros, the external drive costs 120 euros, and the stand costs another 30 euros, for a total of 950 euros to replace my current base PS5 with a drive. i could build a PC with that money, entirely, and have it performing way beyond what the PS5 Pro does. now if the drive was at least included in the package, i'd consider getting the Pro, but those drives are sold separately and are currently sold out aswell. the base price is not the only issue, there are multiple glaring problems here.

My take on the PS5 Pro is that Sony was tired of losing money on the PS5 due to inflation of input costs. They needed to raise the price, but pricing the PS5 at $699 would have generated a significant backlash. So, Sony came out with a slightly improved model at $699 with the hope that people would quit buying the base PS5 and instead opt for the PS5 Pro. This gets the price up and avoids customer backlash.

Its 950 Euro in europe with stand and disc drive. PS5 launched at 499 Euro (you can get it new for 470 Euro, Slim 379). And its even more expensive cause the disc drives are being scalped. Its like 1000 Euro. For me its not worth the GPU upgrade. Many games aren't really looking that great to cause the PS5 much trouble, they at least shouldn't. Its a programming issue imo, like in FF7 Rebirth (taht has some bad design decisions for the open world too). I don't need PC comparisons cause i already do have a stronger PC. Sold all my consoles (kept my switch OLED). Tired of paying subscriptions to have access to multiplayer. Never liked the idea of a mid-gen upgrade. I understand that it's not worth it if you already own a PS5. But at the price, we're moving into PC territory. So that is what I did. I got a custom-built PC with a Ryzen 7600x, a nice chunk of RAM and an RX7700XT. The PS5 Pro may offer better performance but I'm more excited about the versatility and freedom the PC will offer. Time will tell if I made the right decision.

Seems like consoles are swiftly losing their entire point. At these prices? You may as well wait for Black Friday and build a small, mostly low-end PC with a 7600x, RX 7800, 32GB RAM, a 500W PSU and at least have the freedom to mod your own games the way you want. the pro is going to be a beast of a machine but it really comes down to how much you care about framerate and resolution. If you are willing to be $700 so you can do both 4K AND 60fps, it'll be a huge upgrade from the ps4 pro. The regular ps5 can do most games in 60fps by lowering the resolution a bit.

Yes, if you don’t go the full PS5 Pro; you can buy a certified used PS5 from Sony for 350; and Sony has a buy back program for your PS4 Pro… You might even want to look at GameStop, and see if their premium service allows you a really good PS4 pro sale/used PS5 purchase deal… Don’t buy a new PS5… and if you’re worried about the $700 price… consider the PS5 Pro comes with 2TB SSD(which is like a 60-100 dollar upgrade), a larger Die, and hardware optimized to run PSSR… That means you get about 15-20 more frames per second and higher quality visuals…

Future console are not going to include disc drives anymore because physical is rapidly dying, and they are not going to launch at $500 anymore unless they're relatively Xbox Series S quality or a handheld. PC GPU prices have trended continually higher the last few gens. People complaining about either of these are ignorant of where the industry is headed across the board.

GPU prices didn't rise that much since PS5 release and even for the same price Sony would have gotten a stronger AMD GPU. Inflation wasn't that bad in tech, yeah there is Nvidia and higher Spec AMD GPUs, but thats not comparable to the SoC of the PS5 that is made millions of times. Its about wafer costs and how big the SoC is. If PS6 has no discdrive i won't buy it, its that easy. Then i play more on PC and hopefully Nintendo will keep physical cards.

I wonder if RE 2 and 3 remakes will run at locked 120fps, since the run pretty good on the base PS5 (between 90 and 120 fps). I think that, with a good amount of dedicated work and optimizations, GoW 2018 and Ragnarok could achieve a pretty decent 120fps mode (something like 1440p between 100 to 120 fps with VRR)

A mid range pc now is better than the unreleased ps5 pro. You can max out at 1440p with dlss. Upgrade is required only if you absolutely want 4k.

Its similiar to the PS4 Pro jump imo (weaker jump, but it has more RT capabilities and better upscaling than PS5), but priced a lot higher in comparison in EU. But yeah, sitting in the same boat, my PC is a bit stronger than PS5 pro (GPU wise with a rtx 4070, CPU wise and ram wise it roasts it). Don't even have the need to upgrade now. But yeah, instead of buying a PS5 Pro for 1000 bucks with discdrive i could buy a rtx 4080 or wait for 5080. Also Switch 2 will come out next year, that will cost me money too (and that is a new console which gets games i can't play on PS5 or PC)

@@basedplants Its similiar. The jump is in fact weaker when it comes to raw power. PS4 Pro had over double the teraflops of PS4. The PS5 Pro probably makes up to it with better upscaling and RT tech though. I liked the jump the PS4 Pro delivered, it gave better performance and much better image quality in comparison to PS4.

So. 1. Diminishing returns. We get less for paying more with the pro. 2. MORE fake 4k at 60 fps on select games not all of them for more money with Pro. 3. It doesn't come with a blue ray drive at all for more money on the Pro. Hmmm. So same performance with farrr better ray tracing and a couple more games possible at 60 fps that is mostly Sony only titles I've heard of with no disk drive. For 700 dollars. Or PC for the same price that can do far more than the pro games or otherwise (mods!) that would come with a disk drive for farrr cheaper? Um. Why get a pro again? Exclusives? Stick with og 5 and just go PC if you want real options not faked out ones. Least what I took from this video. The only thing truly boosted was the ray tracing.

So, my first PS4 was the PS4 Pro, that was 100% worth it but it was a much simpler choice. (same price as PS4 at launch but better performance, 4K support) Way the last few generations went, you sort of start with most games having pretty good IQ and performance and as games become more ambitious you start to lose that. With the Pro, considering games still need to work on base PS5 you end up extending that grace period till the end of the gen. That was worth it for me but ymmv

Yes, haptics are incredible(if you didn’t have a PS5, this was really the “next generation” gaming feature), and PSSR will improve to the point 120fps becomes a standard option for most games; over the next 6 months…

The Pro is probably worth the price for what it delivers, and if we were in the Ps3-Ps4 era I'd buy it instantly. What is not worthy, though, is the Sony of today. Beside Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine, which both began development some years ago, we have no idea of what exclusive games we'll get from Sony in the next two years and on. I don't trust the guys at the helm anymore, they seem much more concerned with filling their games with ideologies, politics and diversity before anything else. As I've stated many times, I play games to be entertained, no to be educated. I won't buy the ps5 pro right away, I'll wait and see until more exclusive games are announced, but as of now I'm not positive on the situation.

PS4Pro was the same price as the release PS4. It also doubled the hard drive size and it kept the disc drive. In most countries the PS5Pro is closer to $1000 for the same machine they bought 4 years ago but with slightly better hardware and no internal disc drive.

Still looking forward just to replaying re2 again with stable 60fps in the ray tracing mode. That game kept falling below vrr range and the stutter is unbearable, plus a few others drop below the vrr threshold. Anything that stays above 48fps would be a notable improvement for me
