Many believe that Jesus was forsaken by God on the cross when he cried out "my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me." Does Jesus' cry mean he was literally forsaken by God? Understanding Psalm 22 will help us answer this important question. Would God forsake the greatest demonstration of his love? Please tune into this video to learn more.

Thanks for your encouraging words! All glory to God! I have been meaning to do a video on Penal substitution for quite some time now to add to my Calvinism series. I did an entire series examining Calvinism that covers the 5 points of Calvinism and how they don't line up with Scripture. This video is actually part of an entire series refuting the doctrine of Original Sin as it is taught by Calvinists. Examining Calvinism: Reformed Theology kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNbuveNaVxp6cwBpyeOpuylY Refuting the Doctrine of Original Sin (Inherited Sin) kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNY2SELR4LYYYm3q0zYiXly- I read a great article on the Penal Substitution Theory many years ago that I found well-written and thorough. I'll share the link in case you want to read it. I don't know what else this woman has written, so I am not sharing this with you to condone anything else she has written, just to share with you what she has written on this particular subject. www.biblebanner.com/ga_art/deity/vicar.htm Please feel free to share your thoughts. God bless you in your continued studies and seeking of the truth!

Psalms 22 is such an amazing prophecy. Thanks for providing the definition of worm - wow! I agree with you that Jesus did not become sin for all of mankind, but suffered FOR the sins of mankind. Now, in that vein, wouldn't that mean that he suffered the effects of sin? Was he made to feel the pain of abuse, of neglect, of regret, of abandonment, etc.? One of the effects of sin is the loss of the Spirit and the separation from God - not that he was sinful, but he suffered the effects and paid the price of sin in our behalf. The wages of sin is death - both spiritual and physical and he paid that price to provide the way for our escape from both. Psalms 22 is a prophecy of Christ's real crucifixion and there were details in the psalm that literally happened - so why did not the separation from God literally happen at that time? Christ suffered spiritual and physical death in order to overcome both, which he did.

Yes, I believe since Jesus was fully man, he was able to feel everything our human emotions can feel. I don't believe, however, that Jesus experienced the loss of the Spirit or a separation from God. He gave up the Holy Ghost when He died. Jesus laid down His life for our sins but He never suffered spiritual death because spiritual death only happens to someone who has personally sinned. I don't believe Jesus took our sins into Himself and became sin by drinking our sins. I do acknowledge the weight of our sins that He carried though and can't imagine what that would have felt like. I don't believe that Jesus was forsaken by the Father on the cross as some teach but that He was actually proclaiming the Psalm of David when He cried out "my God my God why hast thou forsaken me." I think I mentioned in my video that this could have been how Jesus felt on an emotional and physical level. Again Psalm 22:24 tells us that God never hid His face from Jesus. Jesus did not need to suffer spiritual death in order to overcome spiritual death. He overcame spiritual death through His sinless life and He overcame physical death by laying down His life in death. Anyway, this is the conclusion I have come to through Scripture and is what settles best with my spirit. Whenever I hear people teach about how Jesus became literal sin or was accursed of God it gives me a check in my spirit. Some even goes as far as teach that Jesus even went to hell (the place of torments) and suffered hell for us.

@@ShatteringFalseFoundations I do understand your reasoning but I guess I struggle that Jesus would cry out, and as you pointed out, it was very difficult to talk on the cross, this statement just to fulfill prophecy. It seems to me that if that was the only point, why that phrase? Certainly the Holy Spirit could have given David another phrase that Christ could utter to fulfill prophecy. Here is a compromise - Perhaps Christ felt abandoned by God, like Job did and many at difficult times in our lives, even though God didn't.

I totally agree with you. I think you missed my statement at 15:15-15:30 where I admitted how Jesus could have felt forsaken because He was fully human and could have cried out with how he was feeling. But feeling something and actually experiencing something are two different things. Anyway, regardless of how one looks at it, I believe it still fulfills that Psalm of David, whether or not Jesus cried out from His human emotions and feelings or whether or not He was singing forth that Psalm in praise to God with His last breath and reserve of strength. Psalms were meant to be sung forth. @@jameslloyd7187

Jesus did NOT become a Sinner! No true Christian believes that. But He did become SIN! By bearing our sin He fulfilled His role of the Lamb of God. My sins were imputed to Him. The reluctance to accept this Biblical doctrine denies the plain sense of the text. His forsakenness was actual, not figurative. The Psalm pointed to an actual event of the abandonment of the Saviour by the Father.

What’s the definition of sin according to Scripture? If Jesus became sin, what did Jesus become? Define sin according to Scripture. Then explain how this could mean that Jesus didn’t become a sinner. You see according to Scripture sin is the transgression of the law. So if Jesus became sin this would mean Jesus became a transgression of the law. Sin is not a substance that someone can become. Sin is an action, that of transgressing the law. 1 John 3:4 KJVS [4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Jesus was never abandoned by the Father as this video reveals when one understands Psalm 22 and the entirety of Scripture and let’s go of traditions of men. I agree that Jesus did bear our sins but He never became literal sin. There is a major difference between bearing sin and taking our sins upon Himself and literally becoming sin. He became a sin offering but he didn’t become literal sin. To say that Jesus became literal sin goes against other Scriptures that say He was the spotless Lamb. Hebrews 9:14 KJVS [14] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Our sins were not imputed to Jesus. If they were then He didn’t die as the spotless Lamb and could not have atoned for our sins. You’re proclaiming Calvinistic theology but it’s taught nowhere in Scripture. Be sure to watch this video that’s part of an entire series refuting the Catholic doctrine of inherited sin and the other false doctrines that originate from it. Once someone actually takes the time to consider what God’s Word says outside of “popular opinion” they can quickly see that Jesus was not forsaken by the Father and inherited sin is a false doctrine. 2 Corinthians 5:21 - Was Jesus Made "Literal" Sin Before He Died On The Cross? Definitely Not!!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppjKh3lmprmNgbs Refuting the Doctrine of Original Sin (Inherited Sin) kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNY2SELR4LYYYm3q0zYiXly- Examining Calvinism (Reformed Theology) kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNbuveNaVxp6cwBpyeOpuylY
