You're right about grinding. I remember making 10 mil a day back in Retem farming Giga and vets all day...not anymore. Getting harder and harder for anyone (even myself) to make Meseta. They must be doing it so the only way you can really make Meseta, is by buying AC scratch and selling items.

Btw it's still easy to make meseta by doing PSE for highael or just sell it directly or you can do LTQ and sell it if it have fixa, it's sold really well on market. You could make 3-4 million a day.

A lot of comments from those defending Sega are frustrating. Look, if you like the headline, then fine, you can like it, but to say things like "it's exactly what the roadmap says" tells me that you're not listening to what people are complaining about. Yes, we get 3 LTQ's that they said was coming in the roadmap, but you're ignoring the context when it comes to players complaints. We're complaining because it's literally just a rehash of last years LTQ's, and those LTQ's were terrible. Where are the LTQ's that match the quality of the Sonic one? Then there is the SG scratch, which for me is the worst thing about this headline. They are selling you end game augments, they're basically telling players to not play the game. That isn't all though, they are also selling you a solution to a problem they created with their Fixa update. It's scummy, and it tells me that the only reason they added that Fixa update was to make money off the players. So remember, when they ask for feedback, it's because they want to monetise it.

It’s baffling how this is a multi-billion dollar company and they can’t invest a tiny, tiiiiny bit into one of their most iconic series.. we’re left with directionless devs doing the absolute bare minimum. How can a sequel manage to be a downgrade to previous iterations of the games in every way? You would imagine it would take some strides forward? This has to be one of the biggest failures in gaming as a whole. I’ve never seen a series so mistreated. 2 years of the same recycled content, scratches to cater to their coomer playerbase as they’ve spun the series into a doll dress up simulator, and very little innovation. I’m convinced a solo indie dev would deliver better content than their entire team threefold.

I have a theory it was intentional for sega to disrespect a legendary IP such as Phantasy Star because the higher ups never liked the original creators of Phantasy Star. The creators left due to not being treated kindly by Sega, they said it themselves. Well criti here we are, i was a proud minmaxer, but ill stop after this news. When you ask yourself "Why they make it super easy to spend star gems?" easy, this happenned back in PSU! When they implemented GC to ease the minmaxing, they made the deal so cheap and so good, that it becomes "too good to pass". They either testing waters or wanting to push their hardcore players into pay2win habits, or simply consider the non paying hardcore players can stop playing their game all together and only give attention to the paying users. In PSU the psychology is that once you're past 2000 hours ingame, you feel entitled to own minmaxed gear, so making this too good to refuse offers, gives them the easy and guaranteed solution to get gear they feel they deserve, and then build a habit that everytime there is new gear they will always go for the paid option. And bet my nickels on that the new add on and custom PA update will include this pay good SG for minmax rolls guaranteed. For me it's a betrayal, specially about the add-ons, just like preset they chosen to stay silent on the manner, is the safest way to deal with something they KNOW its gonna be monetized. Why did you think they decided to be as vague as possible with the preset skills when they are known of always giving everything to its most miniscule details in the slides and satellite information segments? Hardcore players unnoficially accepted the fact doing the grind was THE ONLY way to get 20 add ons, there was NO HOOKS about a paid item in mind, and same for fixa, they could had EASILY made it that you only need another weapon of the same cathegory with a fixa to pass, but oh no, if its not the same weapon it has to go throught this system, which now you artificially creates a problem that has a paid solution! And they get you hooked either way, if you're a hardcore player it's a lose lose situation, just like you said you HAVE to recommend the option. Who would want to waste so much time with systems that are not fun at all? Now you're gonna have less power and minmaxed things than players that play a lot less than you that just pay the SG, or you just give into a pay2win tendency and always rely on SG when a new system or gear comes out. The damage is done and now that is officially announced there is no turning back, PSO2NGS has COMPLETELY TURNED PAY2WIN. You can riot all you want about it, it's not gonna change anything, there will still be competitive players and whales who will abuse this systems without a second thought and give in to SEGA to capitalize on it, and this is the display of SEGA that they don't care who you are, if you've been a long time player or a casual, they only care that you pay or don't. For me, I am completely giving up on minmaxing this game, it's obvious that both their hardcore players are disliked by the devs by their actions, and we're the first people that they displayed that they pointing the exit door and they won't care if you decide to go throught it, you can be mad and grovel all you want about it, but their actions speak louder than their words. The solution is giving up on the foolish notion of minmaxing, and play it like the main audience, who plays it for content, fashion and creative space, the main hook they have an the main focus of their content, play for what you still enjoy for this game, but hardcore play has just become a pay2win fest, just like the final years of PSU. Not for the sake of the playerbase but for the sake of yourself, and if just casual play is no longer keeping you in (hardcore farming was what kept most of us still play for thousands of hours), try looking for other forms of entertainment and come back when there is actual content, even if it means taking 2-4 months hiatuses or logging only one day of the week to check fashion and scratch and see if this week is worth farming for the new stuff.

One of the ways this game was supposed to start out and do was address the problems Base PSO2 had. One they've reeeaaally been on is Meseta. They don't even advertise players making Meseta the same at all, lol ("Take Orders, Make More Meseta", Bar Lodos Day, higher % tri boosts AND Meseta boosters being TRADEABLE and easier to attain, & much more). Point being; I think the 1st players they've shown that angst towards wasn't exactly the hardcore crowd, but the Cash Money crowd, which spans from the most casual to hardcore players. They're Hell bent to get rid of RMTers seemingly more than AFKers in public Quests and people doing harassing & bullying, because as I'm sure you'd agree, that goes against their incentive to monetize everything. It's not like the market improved thanks to them doing this anyway, just makes sense it's dominated by whales that give them money than those that don't skipping the line on the artificially slowed gear progression, and having meseta to spare on top of that.

The queueing issue regarding the quantity of players is another reason I left and just have NGS on monitor status for now. Sega hasn't figured out that they are segmenting their player base. People are hanging out in the city, creative spaces, in the open world, but not necessarily in the queues for quests because they don't bring value. There are essentially 4 areas (+4 if you count each region in the open world too) so it's not a surprise people are so spread thin and nobody is around to help accomplish anything. I feel for folks who want to keep playing but can't. I imagine if they haven't already done so, it'll end up with 24 players with AIs filling in the gaps if this falls flat on it face. They just need to tie creative spaces into the active quests with story driven tasks that everyone has to do. We need to be able to build suit and ship docks in creative spaces that allow us to fight in suits during battles and eventually space. That's a prime way of how you tie all combat with creative spaces together. Thank you for covering this Criticasterq. 🙂

JP player here. "It's basically becoming more of a whale's game." *_BINGO._* You cracked the code my man. Once we realize NGS was always made for the whaling audience everything else makes sense- all of NGS' past and current problems. Its also why NGS is much more enjoyable when you finally decide to spend money. You get storage space, a Player Shop, extra CS rooms, passive RDR/experience buffs, free full access to mission pass, more game cameras for screenshots, custom lighting, more login rewards, the list goes on. Not to mention the disgusting amount of profit you can make from buying Support Scratch tickets. SEGA made this game with the intent to milk the dedicated community for all its worth. This game's track record is comparable to that of Anthem or Fallout 76... but at least Fallout got its shit together after 2 years lol. Completely unbelievable SEGA managed to bungle what could've _unanimously_ been the best MMOJRPG of all time. Then again coming up with amazing IPs then destroying their legacy in a botched sequel is kinda what SEGA does best. I pray for the Yakuza community because if our Phantasy Star was ruined, its only a matter of time before they try the same with that IP too. oh btw great video.

BiS SG scratch augs gives whales another way to pay to win without using AC and dealing with the player shop.. The rates will be ass I'm sure, but they'll at least pay enough to get the pity tickets. It will also add pressure on current players' SG stockpiles, competing with mat storage and item protect hunting in the treasure shop.

Support SG Scratch has aug again in it, but at a certain point, people that gear properly are too few, you'll see tomorrow when the -30HP of UQ will dissappear the hell we'll be back in. It don't make gear pointless, it help 70% of this community to do a bare minimum to not make everything a pain, like Zenogia in 10 min instead of 6 Ok store sucks, but and merch sucks too. I don't think i'm alienated to care but it's valid, they can hire a trainee to open a wordpress site. its not even the stuff on the roadmap thats bad its the other stuff they showed that wasnt on roadmap. Now we got an sg sink that limits not only your gameplay, but the free items you can get from scratches for a non-existent chance to upgrade your gear. Because with the current rate you'll never see fixa lvl 3 or even 4 unless you waste literal days farming LC which isnt even fun because its 80% fails and no rewards with pugs. Also the "we're not gonna add any more PAs or techs" while some classes like techer only have like 2 PAs while everyone else has more than them.

For fixa I see the problem with farming Leciel and it's why for me an SG ticket that add powerfull aug is good, because most of this pug problem is a loophole gear/knowledge about the game that is hard to cope with. But if you are not pugging, it's not that bad, in fact there is a reversed problem where some people like me farmed 1500 strugment in fails while we could have wait patiently the SG ticket. For the PAs i'm totally not according, because in term of gameplay there is things to refine, but it's not pa that will make a thing. Techter is actually deep and interesting, force too, but Rod hit like paper. Also modified PAs means probably effect added and different things, that part is to take precautsly, your PA disc in base changed a lot for some it wasn't only potency on it. There is far more to do in fixing weapons first imo even before adding a new loop of gameplay that would unbalance everything again, because it's not like balance was that good now, even if it's one of the less worst we had.

They're making easier p2w gearing to try and HELP crash the market. As it stands market being under the players control is an issue because it prices out most players. New players can't keep up with the whales. So most new players end up quitting. Ngs market has been messed up since day one with player greed. So I welcome this change. Sure it's p2w. I feel like they removing the fun scratch 3 day Shop tickets and heavily limiting the access for F2P players into the economy is what made the economy bleed on the long run. They quite literally shot themselves in the foot by making the people the most passionate about grinding (Aka, F2P players with lots of free time) stop caring as they could not sell anything for the most part of the month (Unless they had hundreds of 3 day passes stashed)
