Thank you for your video and it is quite a different approach than from other videos about the psoas etc. I hooked into my psoas, sidelined, and it was so tender at first but held my fingers there until the pain subsided as suggested. I must admit that there was a bit of relief when I stood up, so that is very encouraging. I will continue to do this daily as nothing else seems to be working. Many thanks.

Thanks for the comment Marie Glad to hear it’s helped a little. I have no idea if you are local but of course face to face consultation and thorough assessment would be ideal. The real question for me is always what’s the root cause. Why is the papas tight. Biomechanics, injury, held emotional issues, trauma etc. have you seen my website and or other videos on somatic work and holistic health? Wishing you well. Rodger

@@Rdphysio Roger, I live in country Western Australia so I won't be able to make an appointment for a consultation. I really do not know what the main reason the psoas is so locked up, but it has been a gradual process for years after a very stressful death in the family. I have been attending a chiropractor and that has helped for a while but does not last. He has suggested a deep tissue massage session with a professional, so that is my next plan of action. Your video showed me how to hook in to the psoas and it helped for a while but as soon as I sit down, it seems to lock up again. I think I have left my problem way too long and it is going to be a long road to recovery. Your video is still going to be part of my recovery, so thankyou for helping me.

@@mariewilliams8382 hello Marie. Apologies for delay in response- only just got notified. I appreciate you are in Australia- I could work on zoom or watsapp video and although not hands on I can imagine working somatically. It sounds like it’s liked to emotional holding patterns from the bereavement. I can assure you it is never too late to address this. I have worked with people with holding patterns decades old. If you’d like to discuss this or book an appointment then message me directly - details on website or email is rodger@rdphysio.com. Take care.

thank you for your video . sometimes being simpler is better . Here is my issue...70 years old long term cyclist ....cycling is creating very painful iliacus issues . the area at the top of the front of the hip is very painful Any exercises would be appreciated. I also bowl 10 pin so stepping on the left slide foot and adding step power is brutal . The concept of pressure points is great as all these current stretching exercises are not helping at all.

Sorry for delay in responding. So hard to really advise but I will do my best. An Online session would be available if you are not local. Are you based in the UK? How are the trigger points working for you? Helping? Have you tried the iliacus release around front of pelvis. You could google Baer’s point between belly button and pelvis and try pressure on that or try Sun salutation from yoga. I think i have one called crescent moon in you tube.. Try that as psoas and iliacus are part of a muscle system in the body we call the deep front line. Perhaps think broader that the singular muscle and realise other things in the myofascial chain may be affecting psoas. Email me on reception@rdphysio.com if you would like an online consultation to get a more accurate view on your issues. Rodger

Will a tennis ball do the trick ?

Tennis ball can work well depending upon where you’re working. If you’re skilled with feel of your hands then using hands may afford some better sense of release
