My bedroom is also the storage room. My parents work in commerce and it was the only room in the house with enough space to store the products. The furniture is improvised, most of it was found or won, some even built with parts from others. I don't like my room, but it's the place I have to sleep. Not even my computer is something I like, I got it after my father fix it (I believe it is about ten years old). But I'm grateful for what I have, because it's all I have.

I was a bit sad looking at the comments because so many people have a room of their own. I live in a 1 BHK with 5 people & my sweet doggo, so I've never had a room of my own. I sleep on bare wood. For years I've only had a phone, until last year my mom got me an expensive laptop of her choice. I'd have much preferred something I could use for digital art, etc. I'm very grateful for it, but most of my stuff doesn't feel mine. One day I'll have a room that feels mine. And I'll have the space to discover myself like I haven't ever. I too, am very glad to have what I have though. If you read this far, thank you

I feel similarly about my bedroom. I share it with my husband, and it's rather messier than I'd like, with hardly any space to just hang out. I'm never in our bedroom except for sleeping. We also don't yet have the money to make it look nice, though I'm hopeful for an improvement, since we are moving soon!
@Vanslockhart Жыл бұрын
Hey! I live in the laundry room! So I share your feeling. I don't like my room either because sometimes gets flooded and I've lost stuff due to water but well, as you said, at least we have a room, right? I sometimes get permission to sleep in another room cause it can get pretty cold from time to time. I would just recommend to raise some money and try to separate the products in your room from your part of the space. I did that, got some curtains and did some decoration. It doesn't look as ugly as it was before. Take care ❤

So this video hits home, no pun intended. When she talks about your bedroom having a lack of decor or feeling regulators, it's probably because you are still trying to sort out your emotional needs. I'm going through a divorce, and for all the years my spouse and I lived in our home, I never once decorated the bedroom. I can 100% can attest that it was a sign of emotional needs not being sorted out. I always felt deep down there was something seriously wrong with the relationship and therefore I couldn't figure out how to simply decorate a space to reflect my husband and I. My subconscious was trying to tell me that my relationship was in bad shape and therefore all of the energy I would have put into making my bedroom (and other rooms) pretty went into trying to fix a sinking ship. It may be a big jump to conclusions, but that's what I got from this video that just makes sense.

Honestly, I haven't redone my bedroom ever, so its basically just a room full of my changing personality. Its kind of crazy, I have bright blue walls from when I was nine, most of my books from when I was 10, my bedsheets from when I was 10, and then pictures and decorations on my wall from age 11 and up. I almost haven't wanted to change anything in the fear of losing a part of myself.

This cleared up some confusing things about my room. I purposely “got into” k-pop just as a lark during the pandemic and it’s been very enjoyable. I felt reluctant putting any decorations from young groups in my room but it does reflect good times I’ve had, so it shouldn’t be embarrassing. I’m leaving my desk calendar in place. Another unusual thing i have is a wall display with small shelves of nail polish. People say it looks like a nail salon. I think that’s supposed to make me want to take it down, but it doesn’t. When I need human contact, I go get my nails done and feel much better. I love choosing among all the beautiful colors. At home when I’m feeling well and have a busier life, I do my own nails. The polish lasts a long time, so even just the enjoyment of arranging them and looking at the teals, purples, reds, raspberries, and magentas, etc is pleasing to me. Also, I don’t have any candles or music set up. I don’t know how to self-sooth, so right again i’m on a path of figuring things out. and last, i spend 99% of my time in my bedroom and i better understand that i designed it to be that way, even tho the desktopand game system and bigger screen are in a different room - all in an effort to get myself out of bed. i love the graphics. esp the bunny room. i wish my pet was that perfectly housed

Big change comes with small habits. Looking at a messy room can feel very overwhelming, and we often associate “cleaning” with “using all of my energy to sling this room back into shape” in sporadic points of time. It is the meaning of cleaning which should be given a new meaning: such as taking a bowl out once we have finished cereal, tossing our pants in the bin once we have taken them off, or putting the book back once we are done with it. I know it may sound simple, but keeping yourself consistent with such small habits will domino into something big! Another good way of looking at it is dishes: if we rinse a dish once we are done with it and place it in the dishwasher each time, we don’t have to look at the gigantic load of dishes with loathing. 5 seconds per dish we toss in, makes up for 30 minutes that we would have to use to wash the load. I have had a borderline unlivable room since I was a child. Clothes were literally in mountains that you could land on safely from a long fall, trash literally surrounding my bed and I left only a small space for me to sleep. I’m not ashamed to say this, because it was the way it was. When I changed my attached meaning to cleaning and began making habit out of the small things, everything fell into place. I now keep a very tidy room, which looks the complete opposite of how it was (only 2 years ago!) it is very much doable. It’s all about the mind attachments to words, and awareness of small habits

Same , my room would take 23 hours of cleaning for it to be cleaned completely

My room is a hot mess. About once every few months or so I get 1 or 2 garbage bags and just clear off my desk. Aside from that, the clothes I actually frequently wear are always either on top of the dresser, on the floor, or on top of an old plastic tub I have filled with old stuffed animals from my childhood

There was one time in my life when I was so depressed and hopeless, I started to get rid of everything personal in my room. For weeks, I was collecting everything in my room into litter bags and dropping them off at the local dump. I was soo deep into depression.. being such a failure in life, dropping out of uni after three years, hoarding loans because of this, being in a so toxic relationship, living in a so codependent family... Getting sick permanently.... Without any education, with debt. I felt so helpless. I think I reached a point in my life where I just wanted to disappear. Anyway, after 4 months of extreme "cleaning", I reached a point where my room looked like a hotel room. No personal belongings. Barely clothes in the drawers. My room felt like an empty and numb place just like I was. Needless to say, my family never noticed anything. It has been 2 years since then, and I think I was the closest back then to suicide. And maybe I did that to erase that failure that I was from life.

You are not a failure. Sometimes we are victims of circumstances.. but you are stronger now because once you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. I hope you are better now. Love yourself and live one day at a time. Get friends and hobbies

I think the biggest thing that tells a lot about me with my room is all the curtains. I have a lot of areas that are sectioned off. Like how there's a loft overhang since it's a really tall room. So I have my bed there with a curtain to keep my bed the most private area. That and it also helps temperature regulation to section off parts I'm not using.

I have a blanket I use to section off my bed from the rest of the room. It's like having an actual bedroom and then a living room outside it. But it's usually pulled back so I can see the TV from bed lol 😅
