I'm in an uncomfortable position where my gf accidentally crossed my boundaries trying to keep her parents happy. Her parents are overly invasive in her boundaries and stuff. I'm starting to lose feelings because she's struggling to stand up for herself. So. We're long distance. Her family is really mean to her. Yet she wants to make everyone happy. Her parents don't want her to move to me. They made that clear. I can't afford to move to her for another probably two or more years. This is all fine and dandy cuz we're working out what to do. Then her parents learned she might move to me. They firmly put their foot down, even though she's a grown adult, and said that won't happen. She didn't resist at all, and told me I have to move over there, that it's for the best and that she's helping me. Her parents would even let me move in with them. .. Me move into her parents means I lose my independence as a grown adult. Not to mention I couldn't afford moving back on my own. She said there's no other option. I said it won't work. She begged me to stay and that she'll do anything. Why am I doing this to myself? After all of that. I should just leave. Yet here I am. Watching improvement videos. I'm losing feelings because I feel like she didn't stand up for us. What am I supposed to do? Break her heart even though she's the most caring person in the world. She's seen me at my worst, and still decided to stick with me. Yet when I see that insanely deep people pleasing, to the point that I almost have to fight her parents for her so she can get what she wants, I don't know. I just feel like that's too much for me.

You should check out the subreddit r/relationships. Don’t move, you know it’s not the right thing to do. Don’t loose your independence. You’d also have to live with her parents which would not go well and then you’re stuck there. Tell your gf you can’t do it. That you love her, but it’s the wrong thing for you to do and explain why if she asks. Hopefully this will be an awakening up call for her. Just whatever you do, don’t move in. You’re then taking away a crucial boundary. Also ask yourself if you want to be in a relationship with someone who has such a hard time sticking up for themself. This will serious problems in your relationship. Maybe discuss it with her, explain how you’re worried whether things can work if she can’t communicate and advocate for her needs and wants.

The first point is very important. A verse in the Bible says, "Love others as you love yourself." That implies that if you can't love yourself, you can't do the same for others. Peter B Jordan also mentioned this. Some people take better care of pets than themselves. Treat yourself like someone you love. Weather or not you believe in a higher power it is best psychologically to believe you are made in the image of God and possess a divinity so just by existing you know there is a creator that loves and forgives you and that you are worthy of love and respect since He loved the world so much He sent His only begotten Son to die for you. So every day should be a blessing we should be grateful for. Regardless of looks or height, God looks at the heart of man, and we are His children.

In response to ultra, PLEASE don't become friends with a girl just to try and get into a relationship with them. We're sick of being happy we found genuine friendship only to be blindsided and become villainized when we don't return your affections. I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. More than half of romantic relationships end in a breakup/divorce. Romance seems like an ugly thing. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. It does seem that nearly all mothers and fathers are hoping that their daughter never dates or get married and remain single for her whole life. Romantic relationships seem like a bad thing since there is a lot of dangers when it comes to them. The overprotective father/mother thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and this world would be a much better place without them. If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, fathers and mothers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughter ever dating if that ever happened.
