Thank you for your evaluation that tells me that the spiritual near death experiences cannot be explained away by materialist reductionist explanations. The NDE is not just a chemically induced hallucination! I love how you are able to tackle highly complex subjects and then dismantle them to evaluate their components. Your research methods enable you to clear the confusion and arrive at highly credible conclusions. I really like your recent focus on things related to our mental life. It seems like we are in a toxic environment for balanced, clear thinking. The world needs more fearless problem solvers like you Tina!

the common thing between the people who think they can explain NDE's with the great D is that they have never had either of them 😁they sound similar on paper which is why those who insist everything must be spiritless and material think they can use it as free pass.

The trips I've been having really helped me a lot. I finally feel in control of my emotions and my future things that used to be mundane to me now seem incredible and full of nuance on top of that I'm way less driven by my ego and I have alot more empathy as well.

I did die in 1997 for a little over 2 minutes. I did not see God, Jesus, family or other. But the light and the tunnel....Holy Moly I say. I did change my life and its still like it was 2 minutes ago and more real than what we call life. I am not afraid to die now. Love and light. We are all light and a part of all. Thanks so much for the video and info.

I've been fascinated by NDE's for a very long time, and have watched and read a great many accounts. At the core, there seems to be incredible purpose, morality and meaning to these accounts. Meaning, people experience purpose, and during life reviews see and experience how their actions affected other people. They don't just see that, they often experience how their actions affect other people. This is a very consistent thing reported by many NDEs. To me this is the core feature of many NDEs, that there is purpose and meaning to everything, and a kind of morality that says we affect other people. I don't see how this could be simply produced as a chemical reaction.

I haven't had a NDE, yet. However, I've had a handful of DMT experiences and have "broken through" and experienced what felt like an astral projection to remote parts of our universe, briefly landing at far away places, only to get the most brief glimpse of the entities/life forms that were there. And the life forms I encountered were aware of my presence as well, and they were not malicious towards me. And as quickly as I realized I had landed somewhere and started trying to focus and take things in and understand what I was seeing, I was torn away, only to continue my journey and to continue landing in unknown, unfamiliar places, seeing and downloading information into my mind that to this very day I'm trying to make sense of. Thank you for your video and research on this subject.

I don't understand why 'experts' attempting to explain NDEs would liken drug experiences to the brain being disabled at death with restricted levels of blood and oxygen. Drug taking interacts with the living brain. The analogy makes no sense to me. I think something else is happening during NDEs, a mystery that science feels necessary to try and 'explain' away in terms their parameters allow. Great investigation Tina, well researched.

In the spring several people find their way to the ER. Stay away from this weed also know as Thorn apple. It is the most psycho tropic weed and the deadliest on the planet!, Not even Ayahuasca is as lethal.

In the 1970's, when Carlos Castaneda was a big thing, a number of classmates took a variety of drugs in order to duplicate the writings of Carlos. All that came from that is that the class of 1979 has the same number of active alumni as the class of 1927 (at least the class of 1927 has old age and death as excuses of not being on active alumni lists, they're not in prison or homeless).

Very good research Tina. I too have also been skeptical that psychedelics produce similar effects to NDEs. Back in the mid 1970’s Dr. Raymond Moody wrote one of the first books on the subject of NDE’s called “Life After Life”. He found a significant correlation between various personal accounts of NDE’s. When one listens to the accounts of people who take psychedelics, their descriptions of their experiences are widely different and often make little sense. I think that your proposition that NDE’s are vastly different from psychedelic trips is correct.

@@CuriousBeingbyTina I’ve only tried LSD once, and other psychedelics a few times, when I was a teenager. It wasn’t a good experience, ever. And other friends who used them told me that they often had unpleasant trips as well. Perhaps those drugs are useful in treating PTSD and other severe psychological conditions in a clinical environment, but I would not recommend psychedelics as recreational drugs or for those are seeking spiritual enlightenment.

I asked KZbin, "does the brain produce enough DMT to explain NDEs?" and I was thrilled that I found your excellent video. NDEs may be similar to ketamine but ketamine isn't naturally found in the brain. Also, there are veridical accounts of real OBEs during NDEs as opposed to ketamine's illusory OBEs. I'm still not 100% certain that NDEs aren't hypoxia or drug induced. But I sure do hope so. I just wonder why so few people who have died and were ressucitated have NDEs. What are the implications for those who don't? And if NDEs are real, do they point to an afterlife? Or are they a temporary transition? Also... one key part of an NDE which isn't during a DMT trip: the life review, especially when seeing one's life and the pain caused to others.

I've been enjoying your videos after discovering your in-depth research and connected thought processes. I just want to say that this topic is difficult to define from a 'scientific' perspective- because it crosses into areas that science is yet to 'legitimise'. In other words science 'studies' areas of consciousness but from a reductionist perspective for the sake of measurable controls. So I'm going to add some 'experiential' knowledge that 'can't' be scientifically 'proven' yet neurological science is helping scientists to get there. I've experienced NDE. I've also had someone pop a ketamine drug in my drink. I've also been 'super psychic' my entire life - and this is the problem as psychics are supposed to be scammers and idiots. But I was born with my expanded Spiritual consciousness-and it has been recognised by many other holy leaders. But I'm also a scientist and an anthropologist. Finally, I also have a 'shamanic' lineage and traditions. So I can answer this from my personal worldview which is my lived experience. I won't go into a long explanation from a bio-medical perspective. Only to say that when someone takes DMT or another psychoactive substance the 'trip' they experience is not the same as dying - it doesn't enact that same process in the brain either as you say. The similarities in all the cases you describe are linked to the neo-cortex region of the brain - and our 'ego' which remains active during the psycho-active process. I've also astral travelled - regularly - i.e. out of body experiences. These are not the same as a psychoactive trip or dying. I'll just explain my perspective from my various experiences and higher knowledge. When we die our brain and awareness remain attached to the body - to our life which is a personal identity reality - for some minutes. In the death transition state - like altered reality living states - time isn't in this simulation. What 'usually' causes us to have an NDE is actually our higher consciousness or body consciousness deciding to protect us because we are experiencing too much pain and/or shock from the experience. The transition process happens with every type of death and is unique to the belief system of the person - but often has the vital events you describe. But the real similarity states in living is neurological 'dreaming' - not endorphin release. This is also why when we OBE and astral travel we experience similarities because of our 'lucid' state and the enactment of the same processes of dreaming. When we have psychoactive experiences there is a direct impact through our adrenal responses. That is why our senses sharpen. Many people claim or become 'psychic' because they have overstimulated their adrenal process which is designed to support the mind to make survival decisions and increases sensitivity and awareness - heightening perceptions. This is a limited form of being psychic as many spiritual gurus describe when they say it doesn't open Sidis or raise Spiritual consciousness. We may liken this concept also to the differences between a drug trip, a lucid out-of-body experience and a 'death'. Drugs often raise our perceptions and sensitivity. But the difference with taking something like Ayahuasca is that it is not 'just' a chemical stimulant to our own body responses (and this you will find woo woo for science). But think about the mycorrhizal symbiosis of plant networks and inter-communication that at least science now accepts. Shamans who work with plant 'medicines' form a connecting relationship with the plant. Not just the plant but the 'deva' or elemental spirit essence of the plant (its higher spirit consciousness). So when you take a ritualistic approach to experiences of altered realities this way - you enter into a relationship with another party. That is why people talk about how the 'mother' comes and guides them through. When you (I) die this doesn't happen. So what is the 'missing link' you mentioned? Well, it's about consciousness. When we die, during the transition period our 'whole' consciousness becomes aware it is no longer attached to the body - but still retains a sense of identity 'I'. When people (I) astral travel or have OBE - they are lucid or consciously entering into other dimensional states and realities - but they remain 'alive' and aware they are alive and 'attached' to their body (or mortal life). When a person has a drug-induced altered state of reality - there is or may also be some overlap with the other two experiences described - but their involvement is not only 'attached' but also 'entangled' in material states of reality and astral. What I mean is - if it is a chemical drug then the states of hallucination and delusion through the adrenal pathways are enmeshed in the experience and also the neocortex or Homo Sapien brain. This is not the case in the dreaming and death process in the same way. If the person is having a 'plant' relationship experience - they are also in a collectively shared reality (think Jung) as well as their unique experience and there is the plant species involvement also. Chemical drugs (yes everything is essentially of 'energy') tend to work in isolation by increasing or inhibiting other functions. Sorry, this turned out to be an essay. Loving your work.

DMT is propably a part of it. When looking at NDEs usually people are in stressful situations where active adaptation regulated especially by the 5HT2AR so there is a lot of serotonin in the barin, also fight or flight is propably also in action a lot of epineprine and norepinephrine is released changing for example time preception. Also during that there propably is a lot of endocannabinoids witch upregulate 5HT2AR espesially (5HT2AR is exitatory neurotransmitter increasing connectivity to different areas in the brain) propably at this point there is so much seretonin that the monoamine oxidase A enzyme is pretty preoccupied at metabolizing seretonin that the DMT can also start having a bigger effect than usually. Endogenous opioid also most likely has something to do with it because of the kappa opioid receptor (Salvia is a k-opioid full agonist btw) Hopefylly makes some sense my english skill is so great xdd

I have heavily experimented with psychedelic drugs and have also experienced an NDE type of experience. Here is the difference that I can put forward. During a psychedelic experience there is a conscious and physical sensation of being under the influence of a drug. During an NDE or Spiritual Enlightenment there is No Sensation of being under the influence of a drug. They Are Not The Same.

Some side notes ... Maybe the psychedelics are neurotoxins, inhibiting normal function in some way. Thus, maybe more akin to schizophrenia and other imbalances in their influence upon the nervous system. Nature produces neurotoxins as a defense, as a type of immune agent. As for serotonin, melatonin, and vitamins A & D, it seems that all of these may play a role in the immune response, and also have wavelengths of light linked to their production. Vitamins A & D boost immunity and have chemistry related to UV light. It has recently been found that serotonin in the gut kills microorganisms, and that may be its function in the brain as well. Green light may help the body produce serotonin. Melatonin has been known to be a strong antioxidant, and it may play a role in apoptosis of cells. The mitochondria generate melatonin, in addition to the pineal gland, and they do so when the body receives infrared light. Beta-carotene is broken down in the gut to form vitamin A, which then presumably passes into the lymphatic system. A lot of this research is new, and I'm not really on top of it. It doesn't relate to the soul or visions, but it's a different angle to consider on some substances like serotonin and melatonin thought mainly to influence mood and sleep. The links to wavelengths of light and mitochondria suggest to me that these aspects of physiology might come to us from ancient evolution, from when parts of our bodies - like mitochondria - might have been separate animals that over time developed a symbiotic relationship with other critters in order to form cells and cell colonies. If we think of these as tiny critters living in water, the ones that respond to UV must have floated on the surface, while the ones that respond to green light could have been floating just below the surface. The mitochondria, which respond to infrared, could have been living a little deeper, and possibly evolved around thermal vents.

Unlike NDEs. DMT trips don't include a detailed life review and feeling what others felt that they hurt and there is a beginning and a middle and an end and they all have common core elements where as psychedelics trips are the opposite. They don't make sense at all and they don't transform lives as is typical in the NDE but people never get this

The fact that the pineal gland is right in the centre of the brain is profound to me. It makes me think of the theorized ‘singularity’ which preceded the Big Bang and exploded into existence. Since I don’t believe in coincidences, I think there could be more similarities between consciousness being contingent on the pineal gland and the single infinite point which contained all potentialities for our life in the universe. I think the inner world and outer world are truly one in the same

Very insightful comparison to drugs and NDE's As I have experienced ayahuasca once, and have been reading books and listening to podcasts on NDE's for about 45 years, I certainly wasn't even close to a NDE experience. I was hoping to have that similar experience, without the trauma associated with an NDE, but for me it didn't happen. Could NDE's be like a cosmic Consciousness or Christ Consciousness and are we a human species evolving towards that? Wonder if NDEs will ever be artificially induced for the human experience!🤔

I believe that we really need to look at this 'physical' world as a very limited manifestation of the esoteric, real, world; and, more important, as a METAPHOR OF SPIRITUAL MATTERS. Likewise with ALL 'paranormal' experiences. PS the distinction between the 'normal' and 'paranormal' is based on our world-views, which are biased in all sorts of ways. Consider: when (not if) we are dying, how real will we decide to view this world then?

It is odd that near death experiences seem strangely like the kind of experiences we might have in near-birth memories: the tunnel with light at the end of it; finding oneself in the presence of living relatives now dead or much older; meeting strange creatures or objects; intense feelings. Newborn babies only see blurred light and dark, are likely to be feeling heightened emotions and find themselves delivered into an almost entirely unknown world, to which they learn to become accustomed. Since the newborn's brain is at an undeveloped stage it cannot make the kind of sense out of things that mature, rational minds are purported to be able to do. Thus, I wonder whether the last moments of life might, in fact, reveal, from under inordinate layers of memories, some of which may well have been suppressed due to trauma (given that birth is often painful and difficult, and can even be life-threatening) psychologically buried experiences of birth and early life, with a chemical fingerprint that might create something like the effect of certain psychoactive drugs on a developed brain?

@@CuriousBeingbyTina : Most of your videos of that I watch, Tina, are on Megalithic mysteries by proposed ancient advanced people, and also all your work on neurology, especially on EEG brain waves, Schumann resonances and Dr Rupert Sheldrake's work. The method of donation has been greatly simplified and it just happened to work for this video, and the fact that it appears here is merely a coincidence. Thank you for researching so many interesting topics.

When I watch Ghost Hunters they should be asking questions to collect information on whats going on, not knock on the wall three times. I have heard stories of people meeting family members and talking to them. Proof would be getting information from them to verify the event was real. Just some random thoughts.

It has always struck me that the more loquacious people who talk openly about firstly their DMT experiences stating categorically that it's ego annihilation yet they are almost competitive in their desire to tell the world .Secondly if one has had a NDE it is nothing similar you are hyper aware that you have fucking Died and you have really done it this time.....I won't go on ɓut...

DMT is not an hallucinogenic, that's just the category people put it that never tried it. It's easy to say what things are without trying them. Try it and revisit this subject.

@@ryanvalley1893 I have a question: do people experience DMT awake or asleep? If it's the former, what is the body doing? How does it physically feel?
@ryanvalley1893

@@cadethumann8605 DMT is strange, it doesn't actually get you high or change your mind set, it just moves your consciousness to a different perspective. You are very aware and awake. When coming back my body shivers, it's a good feeling, I've always felt it was it was me vibrating back into this reality.

@@ryanvalley1893 But if the DMT is supposedly making the spirit leave the body, shouldn't the person not be conscious? And how do you differentiate it from actual hallucinations (like from other drugs or even non-drug induced hallucinations like from terminally ill patients in hospice)? Also, when you do DMT, do you see deceased relatives and friends (including ones you haven't met beforehand and then verified after the experience)? Forgive me sir, I'm not trying to be antagonistic. I am interested in how DMT works (even if I won't take it). I just wonder whether to take both NDEs and DMT as legitimate or as illusions.

@ryanvalley1893 I have yet another question: what do you make of the whole "machine elves" thing that DMT users report about? How do they fit with NDEs as well as consciousness? I'd like to hear your take on this interesting phenomenon.

You end with saying "based on available studies and evidence, we are still far away from drawing any conclusions on near-death experiences". Okay, so that suggests you are leaning into science for truth. Great! But the problem is that one can't say that this is ANY sort of evidence that the supernatural exists!
