“Anyone whose goal is 'something higher' must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is something other than fear of falling. It is the voice of the emptiness below us which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves.” ― Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Very well spoken. Being a RN, at first it was awesome being able to treat the patients without the family interfering. However, this feeling quickly turned to heartache as our patients dyed while being in the arms of no one. Our heartache deepened for patients and the families we had an opportunity to care for!

Courage and personal power, is one the most freeing acts of social bravery we can have. When we affirm to ourselves what makes us us, helps us perform better in all areas of life. I love the fact that Dr Amy is a pathological optimist. I must admit to feel very similar! Such an awesome interview Lewis, you rock.

Although Amy gave many insightful messages and valuable information, her staccato speaking actually may be showing anxiety she is not aware of as she has probably had it all of her life. It actually gave me a stomach ache. Her facial features also demonstrate being uptight. She also is not a model of public speaking as she uses "um" a lot and would probably benefit from attending Toastmasters.
@BeYourUniquePotential

@@patriciaacove4602 I hear you and yes, she has self doubt like many of us. Some show it more than others. It takes courage to speak publicly and I commend her for it. The awareness of their own tension and tightness in one who has been with anxiety for a long time is often amiss, I see your point here. I hope she finds her way with this. Sometimes we develop in areas of intellect or skill set and not in bodily self awareness; often in the area that we specialise in. I specialised in stress management and was burnt out by it many years ago. Then turned to the skills I helped others with. This in turn transformed into a discovery of personal creativity with music and voice. All a learning and evolving. I hope this feedback finds her in a place to receive and go to the next level. What a power house she will be.

Too much of everything harms so there must be balance even in your self-confidence and the right way how to balance your self-confidence is humility. Do not think too high about yourself but also not too low, find the balance. Be confident but also show respect to others, be kind. It is hard to achieve but it is worth it.

I am grateful for the goodness you are promoting in the world. Truth speaks to our souls and reassures us. There is an inner ‘knowing’ that is activated and validated when we hear it. The cognitive dissidence we feel in today’s tumultuous world is ‘called out’ and made clear. So many reassuring ‘aha’ moments here. I too feel like the weird one with regards to my attempts to be optimistic and yet I’m fighting that inner pull to a negative bias. Old programming tries hard to keep me from growing but I see that I’ve always fought against it. I’m healing and gaining more true confidence in being ‘me’... realizing that it’s OK to just be authentically me... quirks and all. Letting go of worrying about what others think and setting boundaries, living truth, living and learning while setting goals yet not limiting myself by trying to orchestrate every moment as life unfolds. Learning to be ‘present’ is the biggest boon. Entering ‘possibility’ and growth is the result. Goodness and greatness go hand in hand. Thanks again, Lewis et ‘al for your contributions to the ‘world of greatness’ that is there for all of us willing to partake. 🥰😘🙏

And this world needs heroes. ha! just looked up your zodiac because I was thinking Leo, as I have a Leo moon and Mars in Leo in 5th and 6th house. Aquarius sun. I'm guessing Gemini or Aqua moon and Aries rising because you seem to have so much air/fire. and lol I now have a new ability to guess accurately people's sun signs (90% accuracy rate) and Lewis, you scream Pisces and sure enough, you are one! thank YOU, google.

Amy is great. But any method (like self affirmations) can be valid at any moment in a person’s life. Saying that anything “doesn’t really work” is a mistake. It definitely works for a lot of people. Psychologists are more controlling or bossy about how stuff “works” I find.
