Since everything seems spooky, I would measure sensor outputs/inputs at the pcm and validate the readings, I see in the scanner. Could be a bad pcm, wrong pcm, bad pin fitment in the pcm connector, bad grounds etc. Normally you tend to check these things rather quickly, but in this case, you seem to be looking a lot at the scanner just wondering instead - but maybe I missed something. Due to the vehicles history, lack of proper OBD II DTC coverage, and system complexity, I think you really need a known good vehicle to compare it to. Interacting systems, some of which are closed loop, are difficult to troubleshoot. A common starting point for OEM systems engineers is to first verify sensor inputs. Because this is a turbo application I would probably start with manifold absolute pressure. Basically, you take real-time data with a known good high fidelity sensor (usually at least 2x resolution as compared to the factory sensor) and compare the good sensor data with the factory sensor one-to-one using the PicoScope. It is best to first compare the raw data of the two sensors first before comparing to the Data PID as reported from the module. Once you verify the factory sensor operation you can move on to another input.

When troubleshooting an issue like this, you need to think about the common denominator. It's very unlikely all these sensors are randomly alternating between good readings and bad readings. What's do they all have in common? Here's one idea: They all connect to the ECU via wires that go through a connector. Have you checked to ensure the connector hasn't been contaminated with some non-conductive material like oil or grease?

Hi Ivan! I belief that there is a leak in the intake tract, as the MAP sensor is causing error P0106. The ECU is trying to rectify the fault by increasing the mixture, which causes the engine to stall intermittently. Please try to put the intake manifold under smoke so that you can see if there is a leak. We already had this on a Ford with EcoTec engine. It was the hose to the intercooler. Greetings from Germany and i wish you and your Family Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 Ps: The P0012 was not present at our Diagnose. It looks like the Box of Pandorra.

Is that why the MAP is ramping up??? The intake cam is r3tarded, which means it is closing late.. which means the piston is already coming up for the compression stroke and the intake is still open, which is pushing pressure back into the intake manifold and ramping up the MAP pressure? lol.. IDk, but this is wild... The variable valve timing could be flopping around and causing the randomness. I'd throw a pressure transducer at it.. and look at the in-cylinder pressure waveforms. Should be interesting.

@EricHall-j2b10 сағат бұрын
Ivan, have you considered electrical noise in the DC circuit? Either induced or generated it can cause numerous pesky, random gremlins. I would start with the output from the Alternator by hooking up a scope to inspect the output. Is it a pure DC signal, no noise? Then repeat at the sensor level. High Frequency noise is usually caused by bad connections and cause a vast amount of random or bad data.

I'd be very, very interested in checking whether the sensor wires, like reference voltage and ground and signal, can carry actual current; like not just a continuity check but rather a real load such as a small test lamp. When the manifold pressure goes from around 4 to 6-7 during idle this must mean, assuming the MAP signal is trustworthy, that extra gas, either leaking air or fuel fumes (through a sticking evap purge valve) must enter the intake pipe. If it's fuel fumes that would also explain the huge negative fuel trims. If the valve is sticking for too long and the snaps shut that could explain the spikes in fuel delivery (requested volume and rail pressure) as the ecu compensates the sudden lack of extra fumes. Just thinking out loud, I'll be very very excited to see where all this leads to...
