1960. Big Sioux River dividing Iowa & South Dakota close to North Sioux City, SD and Jefferson SD flooded. John Deere 45 combine sat in the flood waters.. Had to remove the drive axle bearing and retention nut! No wrench large enough, so had to hammer it off with a cold chisel.... Oh, the memories......!!! Not sure how we got it back on and tightened it..... No, there was no flange for hand/finger protection!
