Does your business have a PTO policy?

Yes I am in Canada and I get 25 PTO days a year. Been at the same job for 27 years. But I don’t take my vacations anyways. When HR complains that I have a lot of PTO accumulated my manager asks for a waiver as I am one of those employees that they don’t want away from work as there is no backup for me. Then HR goes away for another year or two.

So glad I work in the UK . I get 5 weeks of paid vacation each year and these days don't have to be accrued. I also have the option to take a 6th week, unpaid. If I am off sick for a couple of days, I don't have to use my vacation days to cover the sick days. I thought the USA was the land of the free?

So my company only offers PTO which they say is also our sick pay, but we have to accumulate hours to use it, aren’t we supposed to start off with 24 hours of sick pay by California law. I only have 12 hours and I’ve been with my company for 6 months lol
