Our Welsh country pub adventure continues with a pub lunch at the Historic Blue Anchor Inn.
The Blue Anchor Inn, East Aberthaw in the Vale Of Glamorgan, South Wales is a historic Welsh country pub which dates back to 1380.
The thatched-roof pub is a Grade II Listed Building which probably began as a house, but became a pub very early in its history. Which makes it one of the oldest pubs in Wales.
This old pub is in the village of East Aberthaw, only 30 minutes from Cardiff city centre and not that far from Cardiff airport.
Back in the day, Aberthaw was once an important port long before the rise of Cardiff and Barry.
Not far from the pub are the remains of the Aberthaw Lime and Cement Works built in 1888. These are worth the short walk.
We visited the Blue Anchor Inn for lunch on a Wednesday in February
