Jeremy, first of all, I absolutely love this channel and all of the content you & Daniel put out. I have been doing an 8 to 10 day rutcation trip every year to the Midwest for quite a few years, and it is by far my most anticipated thing every year, & have been doing the public land grind exclusively even here at home, so there is so much I can relate to watching y’all. I have been following you for a few years now, and this has 100% became my favorite KZbin channel. I am currently into my 35th year of bow hunting, with the last 7 years being with a crossbow, & I can say it is just another tool that has advantages and definitely has disadvantages! Lord knows I have had my share of mishaps like you did here in this video lol. But keep up the great work man, because I know I’m speaking for lots of people when I say we look forward to each video!

Last November (‘22), the day before Thanksgiving I bought a B3 Hook release ($85’ish). Used it that same evening. Early the next morning I went to get my bow out of the truck and the release was not on it. I initially looked all through the truck, checked my pack, pants pockets. It was gone! I dropped it somewhere in the walk from the location I hunted and back the truck. The hunt spot was about 35 minutes from home. I drove back out and looked in the parking area, walked the 3/4 mile in to where I had hunted and looked all around. The dang thing was gone. Man I was pissed 😡

First year hunting with a crossbow. Getting older so I figured I would give it a try. Used a compound for many years. I use it with my summit climber. I hunt in a small area with 8 or 9 homes around so using a fire arm is out of the question. A crossbow allows me pin point accuracy with little movement such as required drawing a compound or recurve. It’s important I deliver a vital hit so the deer doesn’t Tavel far. Like someone’s back yard. Yesterday I used it on a deer using the same broad head you use. Traveled 60 yards heart shot. These heads fly like practice tips. In both my compound and crossbow.

I use string cocker for mine and i carry extra , one in backpack and one in pocket . I am very accurate out 65 yards 370 ft Xbow would not hesitate 50-60 yard in right conditions. 3 arrows 2” group 60 yards isn’t bad with messed up right arm . @Bradb-bp4si don't get off track here. You must still draw a compound in front of game. Are modern bows better and more of an advantage than a stick bow, ABSOLUTELY they are. If cross bow hunter's would be required to draw their "bow" in the presence of an animal as every other traditional or modern compound bow is required to do then I'd say let them have at it, but you can't. Crossbows are cocked, sitting and waiting ready to fire.

Being from Georgia, I love shooting a crossbow, my shoulder doesn't allow me to hunt with a compound bow anymore so if not for the crossbow I would have to skip archery season, plus it allows my 8 year old grandson to hunt archery season since there's no way he can pull back a compound bow with the required 45lbs, also my wife is now hunting with me since she doesn't like shooting a gun and can't really pull back a compound bow, but the crossbow is perfect for her.......I also hate using a cocker, that's why I shoot a Wicked Ridge Vital X 405, you just cock it manually, manually pretty much works all the time. No need to have that cocker.

I've busted up both of my arms and needed surgery on both the last few years. I've hunted with a crossbow because of it. I had an old excalibur that was big and cumbersome to hunt with. It was crazy to hunt from a stand with. This year I needed surgery a month before season so I had to buy a tenpoint with a crank. It's much heavier than a bow. So heavy I laid it across the front of my climber instead of hanging it. It shoots nice. I didn't buy the most expensive model, rather, one of the least expensive ones. I have truly enjoyed using a crossbow and am glad they allowed me to stay out and hunt. I killed a buck and a doe this year with mine. Next year I am reducing my compound weight to its minimum and going to try to get back out there and hunt with it.

I have both, compound and a crossbow. I prefer my compound, but a crossbow levels the playing field when it comes to draw length, arrow weight, poundage etc. You hit a deer with a crossbow, and you will easily get a pass through. Someone using a compound with a 27" draw, 50lbs may not. Yes, shot placement has a lot to do with it but let's be real, you don't always hit the boiler room. Just my take. Enjoy watching your videos.

I grew up shootin a compound only but now use both. Just depends on what I feel like taking that day. I have some stands that are set up better for compound and some better for xbow. My experience is that it's not as easy using a xbow as everyone thinks. But I still think xbow should not be in regular bow season. Once they legalized xbow for everyone to use in my state, my public land spots that I used to have all to myself are filled up with xbow hunters. Everybody that used to only be gun hunters have now picked up a xbow which doubles the hunting pressure during bow season now. And there are people that treat a xbow like a gun and take unethical shots. I know that happens with compound hunter too but it's even worse with alot of xbow guys

I like the Excalibur crossbow personally with the cocking aid. No crank. Where I hunt in canada it can be down as cold as -15 to -20 Celsius in the last month of the season. @@doityourselfhunter9031 I use all the hocks. Bucks and does, they won’t hurt your hunt I guarantee that.

@doityourselfhunter9031 seems to work better when you can put some out from a deer that came from a different area. Deer are curious.

I’ve bowhunted for 35 years and 30 of that was with a compound and would still be using one if it wasn’t for heath issues. The pluses of a crossbow bow is I’m more accurate with one with a rest but it’s aggravating humping a combersom crossbow and a shooting stick around and forget a second shot which is easy with a compound.

I literally did the same thing with a nice 3 year old buck in pa on public. Looked like the exact same setup too with similar terrain features

I hunt with an Excalibur crossbow. I changed for a couple of reasons. First, I have issues with both my shoulders that shooting a bow would aggravate. Second, I don't have a lot of time to practice. I'm retiring next June, and intend to test the waters with the shoulders with a few of the traditional bows I have.
