Puch Moped going offroad in Mongolia! | Maxi Touring travel from Mongolia to Austria

It's finally time to leave Ulanbaataar and head west into the wild Mongolian Steppe and Mountains. It is also the first time riding my bike offroad and in Sand. At times it was quite exhausting and time consuming, but the amazing Landscape made up for it, and then again it was meant as an adventure so I never imagined it to be easy.
From Ulanbaataar I drove west via Bayannuur slept at the "Khar Bukh Balgas" Ruins, made it through Tsetserleg and eventually ended up in the freezing town of Tariat.

In Serbia we had and still have Tomos,many people used to own ot or still do,cuz it's not being made anymore. Anyways,great moped,many people ride in villages and on mountains. It's also 50cc

I'm old enough to have ridden a few of these when they were new; they were quite popular in the university city where I attended college. I love scooters, but a 49cc scooter is NOT a moped. If the engine dies or blows up on this, one still has the pedals. Good luck with that on a Honda Metropolitan!

Im not sure i am watching these in order, but i subscribed yesterday. If nobody told you you can heat water in a plastic container over the fire. The jug may shrink some but should not burn. Of course don't put it directly on the flames

Yeah, wasnt a big issue though, brought it inside afterwards and let it thaw Out (mostly) during the day, as i didn't ride that day, as it was just too cold. But thanks for the Tip. Btw If you want to know the right order Go to the Playlist there they are sorted

What was your fuel range and how much extra did you carry? How did you manage fuel stops etc?

Range was highly variable due to wind, elevation and terrain, but around 300-350km with everything i carried. I carried 10l extra to the roughly 3.5 in the tank. Whenever my tank went into reserve i stopped and refilled it from the canister.

Danke, ich schätze das hängt viel davon ab was für eine Person man ist. Aber wirklich einsam hab ich mich nie gefühlt, ich hab sicher jede Woche jemanden getroffen mit dem ich englisch oder sogar deutsch reden konnte und dazwischen hab ich dauernd mit einheimischen gesprochen (vllt weniger gesprochen und mehr irgendwie kommuniziert).

I put regular bicycle bags on the back and a backpack over the top. Would definitely recommend bicycle bags, cheaper than motorcycle ones and size fits a lot better

Is the Puch a single speed moped? I used to own a Tomos A35. With its 2 speed gearbox it would bog and then downshift. It didn't go up the hills fast, but it kept going.

It is a single speed moped yes. But I have bought a 2speed engine which was equipped on some puch maxi mopeds and maybe try that one at some point.

I just bought a moped today a Tomos 2008 LX....I haven't had once since the 1980's....Im a 50 years old new moped fan! Mine has the A55 with 2 speed box. Neat video series!

usually about an hour, then a break of about 10min and so on, my back actually rarely hurt, mostly my legs

Is your moped air cooled or liquid cooled?Have you removed all of the restrictions in the variatior,cdi and exhaust?What is the top speed on a flat road and how much kw does it have?

It's air cooled, but without any fan. There is no CDI on it, it has a mechanical ignition, also no Variator, just a basic automatic centrifugal clutch and yeah the stock exhaust has been changed for a bigger one, does about 50 km/h on a flat road and its around 1 kw.

@@abudabidibibudi Die mechanische Zündung hat eigentlich gut gehalten, nur die Kondensatoren waren ein Problem. Ich war nach der Mongolei in Tunesien noch ne Tour, was als nächstes ansteht weiß ich jetzt aktuell noch nicht.
