Tim DeLaney did the sound.
Andrew Woodman did the moving pictures (which I love!)
Ms. Shannon did my nails. Pretty.

So often, when puddles sings the song, I finally understand the lyrics for the first time. His diction is amazing. And you can feel his soul and his music. And his tonality is amazing. But what surprises me is hearing a song after hearing it for hundreds of times an understanding lines of the song for the first time.

I'd not seen anything close to such a meaningful expression since observing a man in tears many years ago, who was sitting on a toilet seat inside of a temporary ten man latrine facility, shortly after he passed a rather dry and difficult bowel motion. This clown is just tops!

tbh, Cheap Trick admits the song was written in about three minutes as a mockery to other songs begging girls for "we all know what" (their words). Puddles definitely gives the words depth, and maybe the original songwriter won't admit to themselves or the public that the words are actually deep. But their stated intention for writing the song was to make fun of all of these other songs begging girls for sex.

Just discovered Puddles, and, man, he has it all. Crazy artistic, tasteful handling of the material, fabulous voice, huge range, and emotional empathy that shows every nuance on his face- a similar gift that Judy Garland possessed that grabs the audience and doesn't let go. This combination of talents is amazingly rare. His wrapping it all in the trappings of an otherwise mute, sad clown, like Red Skelton's or Chaplin's Tramp is genius. Oh, the humanity!

+DrakeMagnum +Puddles Pity Party You know, the same thing happened to me. I remember being blown away by his performance with PMJ of Royals. That was the first I ever knew of him. Amazing, amazing voice, and loved Puddles instantly. Theres something in me that instantly clicked with the sad clown concept. Always felt that melancholy with proper clowns. Sad but comforting beacons of hope for me, since I was a kid. Anyway, I remember checking his channel back then, seeing a few random vids, that birthday song, but not much else, I kept checking on PMJ every now and then with the hope that he d be back someday. A long time went by.... and a few months ago I found out all these amazing videos by myself. I hold a personal grudge against KZbin´s algorithm since then for not pointing me in the right direction in proper time. Thank you Puddles. You make my world better. I wish you the very best.

Ah, Puddles, you brought me back to my first record I ever had. Cheap Trick LIVE AT BUDOKAN! thanks Mom for that album. It was like you silently gave me permission to dive into rock 'n roll. I never looked back, and became a very happy drummer, sharing music with so many wonderful players in hundreds of bands. You see, it was only 3 months later, Mom sat me down and said "Steve, we have a family rule. When you enter 7th grade middle school, you choose an instrument to play". Me being the young padwan rebel, I insisted on drum set. My Mom responded "that's fine! And you will take lessons and study the drums." Which I did... for the next 20 years with fervor and passion; moving on in the mid-eighties from rock/metal, after having a friend play me a Herbie Hancock album. From there to Chick Corea Electric Band, Pat Metheny, and getting way into afro-cuban salsa. All b/c Mom bought me that Cheap Trick album in 1979! I love getting older and looking back at the poignant crossroads of life, the people (my messengers) that may have said something so simple and innocent, that influenced me to choose another path to start a new adventure. In 1997, I was living a fabulous life at Mission Beach, San Diego; a stones throw from the ocean. Playing music with all sorts of bands, teaching drum lessons, had a few massage clients, all was good. However, something was poking me inside, a voice was calling, but to what I was not sure? One evening, hangin out on the roof top smoking a doobie with my best friend, I expressed a desire to move to Colorado, to some random small mountain town. I knew nothing about Colorado. My friend, high as fuck, leaned in and whispered to my face, "you wouldn't leave if you had the chance." And he laughed quietly at me. It was that challenge that set in motion a new life for me. A glorious life. A month later I was packed up and heading to Colorado. I had no idea where. I have now lived in Durango Since 1997. Made so many life long friends playing music here. Not making a ton of money, but enough to supplement, as I still do. Started a kick ass "school of rock" type music school and left teaching after 18 years. Living in a cabin at 8500' with my best friend (my wife). It's our "Island of Misfits Toys"; elderly, or disabled, funky animals that we take in and share life with. I can say I have zero regrets. Even the painful roads I took into self loathing and sadness at times... all has led me just a little closer to more understanding of myself, while furthering and deepening my connection with Source. It's ongoing. I wish you all the same rewards and learned lessons similar to what I have discovered along my many paths. so, Thanks Puddles... b/c not only do you move me with you voice and music. You also inspire me as a music arranger. I'm writing/arranging tunes for my new Ableton background track duo and trio projects, of which many songs are based on YOUR arrangements.

There's the original version of a song and then there's the Puddles version 😊 I love how he sings baritone but can also hit the high notes

Don’t know if this was intentional or not, but it reminded me of Roy Orbisons crying, the way the guitar drove the song. Vocals speak for themself. Intentional or not, it was fantastic!

I was 12 in 1980. Cheap Trick... one of my all time favorite bands, Robin Zander one of my all time Favorite voices. This song, their biggest hit ever.... You brought tears to my eyes Puddles. Can't believe I'm saying this but its better than the original. Thank you and damn you at the same time. Would love to hear Spaceboy (Smashing Pumpkins) or Today or Disarm. I think you'd kill it.

As I have heard when Puddles sings a song the lyrics finally make sense. Stripped down, and powerful I hang on each word.

Have I already commented this one? Don't know, don't care. This is such a great and touching version of one of my first favourite pop hits. As a small boy I of course just got hooked by the indisputable catchiness of the tune. Listening to you, I cry.

Ah, Puddles, you've really done me in this time. This is so beautiful. Someone who really loved me dedicated this song to me, many moons ago. I loved him too, but I couldn't give loving him (or anyone else) a chance, because I was afraid of love. I was afraid of love because of my emotionally abusive ex and my parent's bad relationship. Also because I thought there was something fundamentally wrong with me and I didn't want to drag a good guy onto a relationship with me. So I pushed him away. He's happy now with a beautiful wife and children. I'm happy for him and would never mess that up for him, even if I could. Every time I hear this song it makes me cry thinking about the kindness he showed me when I needed it so, so much. I tried to act so tough. But he showed me tenderness. I will always love him.
