I’m Puertorican but my parents didn’t believe in hitting their children. They gave us lectures. I remember telling my friends that they were lucky because they got hit and it was over! Lol. We got guilt! I think I would have been traumatized for life if my parents had ever hit me! I think guilt works better than hitting because all five of us grew up and became well educated, we’ll behaved, successful adults!

She does not understand that I have PTSD, from my mother going upside my head over the years. I love my mother as much as I fear her. She is 5 feet of Hispanic crazy and I would have it no other way.

You should have more about Puerto Rican grandmothers the one that takes care of small Grant children while their parents work I was raised by my Puerto Rican grandmother who made amazing food daily and had me eating mildly spicy Hispanic Caribbean style boiled blue🦀 crabs at the age of six years and seven years old with starchy Caribbean🇵🇷 vegetables 😂 and sometimes cornmeal🌽 My grandmother taught me how to use a small piece of the claw to dig out the crab meat So I could eat my Caribbean island home cooked seafood dinner😊

What she describes here sounds more like my grandmother xD I remember when she would take out one of her slippers and we would all duck for cover and disappear. My mom's more of the type that will give you "the look". And what she says about latinos not knowing what "Empty Nest Syndrome" means is also very true. Even after we get married, we still visit our parents at least two weekends in a row. I'm island puertorican BTW, don't know how it is with puertoricans that grow up in the states.

My PR mom didn't hit us, she was sweet and kind. But my PR dad ran the house with a iron fist. Since my mom wouldn't hit us, my dad named his leather belt "Lydia", my mom's nickname and would tell us (siblings) "No te pongas chistoso que Lydia esta que pica! "Don't get funny, Lydia is ready to sting!" or he would remove his belt wave and point the tip towards us and make it look like a python ready to strike. LMAO now, but during those days it was no joke! 🤣🤣🤣 Today I'm melted butter with my kids 😎😏

I am that Puerto Rican and our family is not like that. Puerto Rican kids Do want to leave the house at 18. Not all moms spank their kids. That used to be maybe in past generations. It is considered abuse now.

I don't get why they call it abuse when you discipline your child at young ages, I'm glad my Puerto rican mom AND grandma whooped my ass, made me a better man today, unlike some of them white boys always whining about everything screaming because "my mom didn't buy the newest game out there" and you ask them if your parents whooped you at all and they will say no -_-
@BUMKID6227 жыл бұрын
i dont care if its considered abuse, i know it's not abuse it's discipline! if my kid was mouthing off to me and using the f word like some white people let their kids do to them, they would get the only beat down known to man. and it's not in past generations either, it's still done nowadays but not as much as before.

Who here learnt how to divide syllables from your latino mother Also who learnt to always try again if you fail dividing syllables you'll get it eventually It's a cruel way to not fail Spanish but its effective
