Pulling a Club Car clutch with a 7/16x20 bolt

We had this engine from a Club Car golf car out for an engine repair and thought I would share an easy, well sorta easy way to get it off the crankshaft using a 7/16x20 bolt. Remember the main bolt that holds the clutch on is left handed on this model. The bolt used to pull it is a standard right hand.

I just tried this trick and it worked. The way he fills the hole from the inside out using the tube and the grease fitting is ESSENTIAL!! If you try to just force grease in by squirting it in without that little tube he use, you will have air pockets and it will not work.

I needed this video two days ago.. lol I just broke my back pulley plate trying to beat one off with a hammer... isn't it funny when you fire up the camera nothing works as it should.. my subscribers ask me to do how to videos ! and tell them no way.... My luck is every time I fire up the camera everything goes wrong !!! ******Great Video..****** Thank You ***** Im just glad to see Im not the only person that struggles with simple things while the camera is running... I will def. use this technic if I ever have to remove another clutch...

Thank you it worked! Still can't believe it. When ours let go from the crankshaft it sounded like a shotgun blast and blew off! Scared the crap out of us but worked like a charm

I purchased the new clutch and the $15 tool. On vacation and the clutch shelled. Amazon to the rescue. Did it at the campground without removing anything but the belt. Take out mount bolt, screw in tool until clutch pops off, install new clutch and mounting bolt. The issue was that I rode my unicorn 100 miles in this small town trying to find a 7/16” bolt 20 tpi, 5.5” long and could not find one. New clutch installed with the old bolt and a big stack of washers. $30-$40 on line so I’ll wait until I get back home to buy the bolt.

I have seen this done using water or oil. Fill the cavity, then screw bolt in clutch with teflon tape on threads.

Very old mechanics trick but I bet that there's a lot of the new generation that never would believe it.

Next time flip the motor on the side and put water in it... Water doesn't compress so it works better and no mess..
