Helpful and clear video! We used this to replace the circulation pump of an IKEA machine. The new pump cost $38, very favorable compared to other options.

It's seldom I comment on videos but I had to just take a minute and say THANK YOU. I have this same dishwasher and had done all the easy steps from other videos, which didn't resolve the issue. Pulled the pump today and found plastic debris clogging it up. Cleaned it out, reassembled, and waa-la! Cleaning like a new one again. Great instructions, very well done. I had to use a standard hose clamp, Home Depot didn't have a crimp clamp the right size. I'll keep an eye on that for leaks but so far so good. Thank you again, appreciate the effort you put into this video.

Excellent tutorial. I followed it exactly. Turned out there was a calcium buildup from my hot water heater that was stuck in the pump circulator. I cleared the obstruction and the old pump is working properly now. Your video set my up for success, and I saved on the new pump, since I ended up using the old one again. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I have checked all the filters, water lines. Got down on the floor w/my ear up to the dishwasher w/a flashlight. Turned on the dishwasher and hear the sound of the circulation pump not connecting. From your description I'm going to check this part out. I'll let you know how everything turns out. 😊

Yeah, I ended up using the ear clamp. Works well and gets nice and tight. The clamp and pliers to crimp them will run about $10-15 at a big box hardware store. Good luck!

great video! you saved me a ton of money, just learning how to remove the pump and check it - turns out mine had an obstruction stuck in the impeller. Here's to hoping the resistance didn't burn up the motor. Just need to buy a new crimp clamp and put it back together and test!

Thank you . This was an excellent presentation. The pump on a Whirlpool DW I have at my daughter’s house has this issue . I was just quoted $360.00 for the part and $70.00 to install . After watching the how to repair, I’m good with $70.00 to remove and install. The mark up on the part is about double . I’m partially disabled so some of the labor process would be a challenge. Thank you anyway . It was a very informative read.

The pump splits at the motor. It's made to twist apart and be put back. No need to mess with the hose clamps. Just twist off the old pump and twist the new one back on. There's an o-ring that should be lubed with some dish soap when you do that. The pump can be removed the same way for cleaning. It's a wet rotor design and the rotor cavity fills with gunk. Cleaning it out occasionally helps breath new life back into it. Although eventually the rotor's bushings wear out and the pump has to be replaced. I've also had one with a cracked rotor magnet.

Be advised that the "pull out the rubber gasket" part (3:20) is much more difficult than he makes it seem here.

Extremely. Wouldn't recommend but still not a terrible idea. Whatever works best.

Screw that... I can't even get the small rubber hose that he just pops off with no problems. I can literally lift the machine with my screwdriver under it and it hasn't budged
@MonkeyMD3Ай бұрын
@@berndo3038 So how did you get it off. Thinking about some lubricant
@berndo3038Ай бұрын
@@MonkeyMD3 It pissed me off enough that I just took some pliers and bent it off lol. It can't be reused anyway so I just got a 1.25 inch adjustable hose clamp, the screw kind, and tightened it as hard as I could physically muster. No leaks and it's running like new.
@MonkeyMD3Ай бұрын
@@berndo3038awesome. Was going for some Astroglide but remembered I had some silicone lubricant, so used that.

Millions of dishwashers, pump motors go to landfill due to a cheap $.50 graphite bearing failure. It ought to be a crime.

I kept my wires and hoses long so I can just pull the dishwasher out. Pump keeps getting grit in it. It takes me less than 5min to remove, clean, and replace, but doing this once a week is getting old. Any way to prevent grit from entering the moving parts of the pump?
@PracticalMechanic6 ай бұрын
Can you install an in-line filter in the water line upstream of the pump? Wouldn't need to be too fine, I would say 100 micron filter should work.

So how long is the life expectancy of a new pump?

Is it possible to take apart and clean out the pump without needing to disconnect the hose clamps? I don't think I'll be able to reclamp mine
@PracticalMechanic2 ай бұрын
It'd be tricky. I think they're intended to be single use. You can replace those with a normal metal hose clamp, or the tool and a couple clamps is pretty inexpensive: amzn.to/3XlMzx2 Good luck!

I went step by step using this video, Got the circular pump on, however I can here it trying to engage but then stops, then it tries to engage again but stops, is this considered a bad circular pump or is something else going on???
@PracticalMechanic7 ай бұрын
Could be, otherwise could be some debris in the hose that's getting lodged in the pump so it can't turn?
@psdaengr91123 күн бұрын
Overall fine, but don't tip the dishwasher onto the front to access the bottom. That's not just the only finished surface, but also the oinly surface that has moving parts. Tip onto either side or the back.
