Normally if you set for 30 psi it will cut around 31 psi. This is to allow some "leakage" when you release the valve. The new model has a rather trick valve connector that doesn't lose any pressure when releasing. All these devices are only accurate to plus or minus 2 psi so if you really need accurate pressure readings you will have to spend a great deal more money on a calibrated pump. The most important thing is that the pressures will be the same on opposite axle ends. Try checking the pressure of a tyre that has been in the sun for a couple of hours. You will be very surprised.

Those things are ok for topping up on pressures, and the emergency where one tyre needs fully inflating but they will fail badly on trying to do that on more than one tyre from flat. It wouldn’t be long before it gave up the ghost, and failed completely. In addition the one that plug in to the 12v will blow a fuse quite quickly as well. They are good for general maintenance though or keeping in the back of the car for emergency’s

I quite like the twin piston Michelin compressors from Halfords that plug into your 12-volt socket (think it's called 4x4 Superfast). I'd probably say from flat to around the same pressure takes about 3-4 minutes, which is fine, although they do struggle when it comes to really high pressure such as the rear of the Santana when fully laden.

Hi Could you please advise whether you are running those 285 tyres on standard Defender runs. Liking the vids especially the one on changing out rubber valves while the tyre is still fitted.

Can you Charge the batt of the RYOBI with the 12 V DC car system, anyway? Otherwise, I would prefer a 12V DC pump.

£70 too much! Buy a proper job that runs off the choice of the car battery or house power.
