One of my staples is chili. I always have individual portions of taco soup and chicken chili in the freezer so I can always be prepared. Watching your videos has helped me meal plan better 😀

The pancake bake is a definite make!! We like our chili with a bit of heat also. That would taste great with the weather we are having now in PA. I’m not ready for winter yet!! This was another great week of food prep. It’s working for you!!! I’m very late in watching this and am way behind in my channels I watch. Thanks for doing this for us!!

Cheryl, I am soooo behind in watching everyone!! It's so hard to get caught up once you get behind too!! Yes, up north is definitely getting the weather. My dad lives in New York for the summers and he stayed late this year. He's just now heading back to Florida and didn't leave before the snow though!!

I do the same with the ground beef. Ive researched also and it does say cooked and rinsed makes it the same as lean.
@PlanningUsHealthy4 жыл бұрын
Yes! And you can tell when you're eating it anyway because without rinsing it, it leaves that grease film in your mouth. When rinsing it, I feel like I'm eating the extra lean anyway. :)

Kristi, When I'm cutting up Fresh Vegetable Produce. I place all the stalks and pieces I don't use from cutting up vegetables into a large freezer container. Then I continue to add to that freezer container I keep in freezer. Once container full I place all vegetable ends and pieces into a large stock pot with water. I boil until vegetable ends and pieces cooked. Then I drain the vegetable ends and pieces and then throw away the ends and pieces. I now have a great vegetable stock. I freeze the stock in ice cube trays. Use as needed in soups or other dishes.

That's funny you say that because I just said to my husband the other night that I haven't made chicken broth in a long time. I used to save all the vegetable pieces, etc., and then when I made a whole chicken, I'd throw the carcass and veggies in a pot and make broth. Thanks for the reminder!! :)

I always rinse my cooked ground beef in a metal sieve with hot water. Read a report years ago from the university of Minnesota that tested fat content of beef with various methods and that eliminated the most fat.

Love chili 🌶! I use my crockpot most of the time! We make it almost exactly alike the only difference is I can’t put as many beans my family complains! If it was just me I would put more! Everything looks yummy as always!!! 💙💜💚

That's funny because when my kids lived at home, I had to use half the amount of beans! They just didn't like a lot.

How menu points do you give the ground beef when you rinse it off like that ? I tried it for the first time and it really turned out well- took all that junk out- thanks for sharing
@PlanningUsHealthy5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dina! It really does get all the fat off it! As long as it's at least the 80% lean, then I count it the same points as the 96% (which I believe is 2 or 3 points per 4 oz, depending on the brand. :)
@mssuzannehoward39865 жыл бұрын
I do the EXACT same thing with my ground beef. I can’t stand ground turkey so I wash my 93% and count it as ground turkey!😈

I really struggle with pointing this kind of thing. So first you put your bowl on the scale, zeroed it out, then put all your chili in the bowl? Then how did you know how many servings? Or did you take a cups worth out and figure from that? I have this problem for everything that is all mixed together like this. Thanks for your help!
@PlanningUsHealthy5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandy! Yes, that's exactly what I did. I zeroed out the scale with the bowl on it, then added the chili. That was about 4500 grams. Then I measured out what one cup was, and it was about 250 grams. So, then I divided 4500 by 250 to know I would get about 18 one-cup servings. It's a little bit of a hassle that first time you make something, but then when you build the recipe in the WW app, just make sure to put notes. Like, for mine, I put "made 18 one-cup servings". Usually I don't have something that makes 18 servings though, so it's not usually like that to figure out. Hope this helps!! I did the same thing tonight when I made meatballs. I put the meat and ingredients all together, weighed the whole thing, and then divided that by the number of meatballs I wanted. That came out to 20 grams, so I weighed out 20 grams and formed each meatball.

ok this is a stupid question, i really dont like almond milk, can u taste it in pancake bakes?
@PlanningUsHealthy4 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can. I actually don't care for the taste of it plain, but in recipes I don't notice it. You could use skim milk if you wanted to. Just put t in the tracker to see if it increases the points. :) And there are no stupid questions around here. 😉😉
