Yeah it's so the matches doesn't actually lasts 9 minutes total Super Punch Out on the SNES is the only one with no double time and lasts exactly 3 minutes but only has 1 round

I always thought Don Flamenco was the easiest guy in the game. Glass Joe I never really learned a strategy for and just scrapped it out until I KO'd him, but Don Flamenco gets confused as soon as you dodge him, and you can totally clobber him then. I didn't know you could do something that could KO him THAT quickly, though.

Glass Joe is super easy. You just wait until 42 seconds and he backs up to do this little special and low punch him when he comes in. You will win in 42-44 seconds every time this way. The second is just as easy. Just get stars when he crouches then hit him was and star every time. It should be 43 seconds too.

Probably because of the password entered. It keeps wins/losses/KOs, but can be manipulated to strange values. The game would not actually give the player this password.

You have to wait a little bit after his Olé punch; don’t punch right away.

the punch is frame perfect. however, hold a and left dodge at the start of the fight. the punch will come out first, then the dodge. do another dodge and quickly hold up and a punch button to get the star. then hold start. this is guaranteed to work every time.

Games at this time were subject to processor speed. This means that there wasn't a need to program into the game to limit its frame rate by time. So as the processor's workload lowers and raises, the game itself goes slower and faster.

After picking up MTPO again, I found that there are two kinds of punch. The slow punch, and a fast punch. The fast punch comes with a "woosh" sound and the timer does in fact slow down. This has nothing to do with the processor. Part of it, from play testing, seems to be related to how accurately you dodge incoming punches and the other part is what kind of punch is thrown at you.

the timer slows down on whatare known as "rapid punches". rapid punches are usually activated after a quick dodge, which are down when pressing left/right and up at the same time.

You can also beat Don Flamingo by dodging his first punch and then countering with alternating left and right (or right and left) uppercuts. As long as you keep alternating between your left hand and your right hand (or vice-versa) you can just keep punching him ad nauseam until his life bar runs out.
