Every Maharashtrian has his heart filled with joy after this, Puran poli is so satisfying to eat and very technical. This is how authentic Puran poli is made, but at my home, my grandmother passed the recipe to my mom and it's very different. The Puran of my mom literally tastes like a smooth icecream and I just end up eating the filling only ❤️ i miss my home now. Hats off to you chef

This is so wonderful... We being maharashtrians , puran poli is something that is cooked in our house most of the times...be it Holi, gudi padwa or Dusshera....it's our roots DESPITE of this ....i could never make perfect and tasty puran poli...every time it was a flop...it use to taste bad...and eventually my kids started disliking it ....have been cooking for like 20 yrs now still couldn't make it and then use to think this dish is only bad...why people like it🤷...and then saw your recipe...made it... turned out so delicious...words cant describe....from then made it 5 times till now i suppose... turned perfect and finger licking always....u are a true gem...i really love all your recipes...be it anything...i always try...the home made food turns better than restaurant one bcz of u..... It's popular in all of Karnataka. Infact, Pūraṇ pōḷi originated in and around Karnataka or largely the deccan. The earliest mention of the dish trashed so far is found in Manasollasa authored by Chalukyan emporer Someshvara. Also, it forms a part of the traditional festive meals in Karnataka and is called hūraṇada hōḷige (from Old Kannada. "Pūraṇada pōḷige") or Obbaṭṭu.

सर, खूप छान, अप्रतिम , कटाची आमटी त्याला दिलेली फोडणी आणि सर्वात महत्त्वाचे म्हणजे पुरणपोळी सोबत पानात वाढलेलं गुळवणी . खूप छान ह्या आधी पुरणपोळीच्या खूप रेसिपी पाहिल्या पण गुळवणी बरोबर पुरणपोळी serve केलेली मी तुमच्या video मध्ये पाहिले . आमच्याकडे नैवेद्य जसा ताटात वाढला जातो . त्याची आठवण झाली . खूप छान अप्रतिम

What an insight to Maharashtrian cuisine! Never knew the way the dishes are prepared. I am from Karnataka, and we call Puranpoli as holige or obbattu. The preparation for this is slightly different, but as you mentioned, we all have variations in our own homes. What a surprise of a dish to see on this channel! And at home, we don't prepare any dishes with onion or garlic for festivals, so I was not expecting to see them being used in the Kata chi aamti. Mom usually prepares a rasam called obbattu-saaru, which uses the mashed puran as one of the ingredients. Love how every dish sounds similar but is slightly different. Wonderful diversity! Another variation is called a cut-saaru which is prepared generally (not a festive dish), and mom did mention that certain variations have Onions and Coconut (she had used only garlic). I never knew it was one of the dishes served during Holi! And dipping Puranpoli in this, completely unexpected! I'm just amazed by the similarities and differences between the two states, and feel happy to see the diversity! Thank you for such beautiful recipes, chef!

You have brought all my childhood memories back having spent 25 years in Mumbai before shifting to Ludhiana Punjab. Waiting for ragda pattice recipe (like tikki chole here) , your style although I have made it many times my own way. Khamang kakdi and sabudana khichdi are also my favourites. Here we use seasonal cucumbers or pahadi kheera since they can be digested only in the summers.. Mushroom chilli also well explained and I shared it with my maid who cooks for us paneer chilli so we will try it since mushrooms are in season. We are a family of sardar doctors but being born and educated in Mumbai before marriage these Maharashtrian dishes are rare here. Kanda poha is made at home but added with peas carrots etc. peanuts.I hava a habit of adding little sugar in arhar daal , gujrati kadhi and poha etc otherwise it does not taste authentic God bless you and your bright future.😊 Gina Singh
