Hello! Namo Amitabah Buddha! I will like to say I just saw this video hours earlier. When I saw this video, it really moved me that the young woman in the movie called onto Amitabha Buddha for the pigs before her husband would butcher them in her heart. That is exactly what I did. I went to the gym and when I came back, I saw a tortise on the side of road trying to get up from the raised sidewalk to continue walking. I was chanting Amitabha Buddha at the time. I almost ran over it, but I saw it just in time and breaked and parked a few meters away from the tortise! I chanted Amitabha Buddha for this tortise after moving it with my hands into some nearby grass with a nice field, a hill, and a lake so it could have access to food and water. Namo Amitabha Buddha!

This story is very powerful: it teaches us that even when the karmic obstacles are strong, our faith in Amitaba Buddha, his Pure Land and his mercy for all beings are even stronger. I recently started to nianfo, with the help of a 108 beds rosary, at least once per day. I cannot stop eating meat, I must work harder to overcome this obstacle. I am a country boy and in my farm we have many animals, some of them we slaughter to make meat for ourselves. I just nianfo 108 times for the cows and the poultry that soon will become meat, I even pat one of the cows - the one closest to his time - and continued to nianfo for him. Maybe in that way, when the time will sadly come, they will remember about Amitaba Buddha and his mercy for all beings, and attain rebirth in his Pure Land. This is my wish for them, but also for me and all living beings. Namo Amituofo.

How come pigs can be reborn in PL so quickly. One needs a lot of good merits to be reborn so quickly unlike those in the lowest grade where it takes eons to be reborn.

All can be reborn to the Pure Land in one instant as long as one has faith vow and Nianfo. Who says it takes eons to be reborn? Even for the lowest grade one can be reborn in one instant. Maybe u misread the sutra where it says it takes some kalpas for the lotus flower to open. But they are already in the Pure Land and one day in the Pure Land equals to one kalpa. The time in the Pure Land is different from human years. U can come to our weekly Nianfo Sharing Circle to know more, we are discussing the different grades of rebirth this Wednesday. Amituofo 🙏

@@PureLandBuddhism What I meant was how come the pigs lotus flower can open so fast. To be reborn as an animal normally means they have not accumulated sufficient good merits. So it should take longer for the lotus to open. But in the movie, the pigs went to tell the lady that Amitabha Buddha is going to receive her in 3 days. That means the pigs lotus already opened. How can it open so fast?

@@minfongcheng4227 yes like I said the time mentioned in the sutra is actually a very short time in the Pure Land. Even for many kalpas it's only a few days in the Pure Land. Its not like they have to be trapped in lotuses for a long time (people misunderstand). And in the sutra the lotus opens signifies the activation of Buddha nature. Q: So if the pigs were encouraged to nianfo, they must have personally done so in their mind (a silent nainfo), which gain them rebirth in Amitabha Pureland? Although the video did not and cannot show this, I believe one must personally nainfo to attain birth and not through the group recitation on behalf?

Group recitation helps in a way, when they recite the person will follow to recite as well, or at the very least hear it. And remember to go pure land or increase the will or determination to go. (Especially for some who is not so strong in faith or in their cultivation.). The condition of going to pure land is 1)Faith/Believe in Ah mi tuo fo. 2) Vow to reborn in pure land. 3) Action to recite Ah mi tuo fo name.

In this case, I assume all the pigs were able to tune into the girl's silent recitation each time, and did recite silently themselves and then gain rebirth in the PL. Similarly, if one orders live seafood in a restaurant, they can recite silently to the fishes and lobsters, etc to also recite and vow for a rebirth in the PL. Thanks. Amituofo.
