You are the best teacher out there for knitting. Thanks to you, I am knitting socks! YOU ARE THE BEST!

I thoroughly enjoy your video's. I've been knitting roughly 53 years and learn "Something" with nearly every video you share. What I enjoy about "You" is how calming and reassuring your voice is. So pleasant and kind.

This video came out just in time! I was trying to figure out a way to join yarn when making socks. I discovered that the wool my husband picked for me to make him socks from was actually tapestry wool, which means that they are four small skeins put together into one, and that makes for a lot of joins! I was about to give up on it, when I saw your video. I was able to use this Russian join and then twist the yarn nice and tightly so that the extra bulk is hardly noticeable. This is SO much better than tying even tiny knots or trying to weave in a bunch of threads. Socks are super hard for that because all those things will cause rubbing on the foot, so they are avoided. Thank you for giving me the ability to use the yarn my spouse wants and still have a great result.

That looks stupendous. The teensy bit of thickness will never be noticed on a gallopin' horse!

Purl Together ... my grandma usta say that, then mom, now me. I've also heard Eleanor (knit Nottingham) say "nevah be noticed on a prancin' pony" (said with a British accent😊) Feel free to use it yourself. That's one of my faves.

In UK we say "a blind man would be pleased to see it". I think I prefer the galloping horse and the prancing pony!

This is amazing. I did it! My first attempt pulled apart but the second time I paid very close attention to inserting the needle up the very middle of the yarn fibers and wow! I used it in my hubbies double crochet slippers with super bulky yarn and it worked just like you said. Thanks so much. I'm passing this along to others. Your videos are awesome :)

This is pretty cool! I'm working on my first ever crochet project (which is just a plain blanket) and I've only tried using the knot to add in the new skein in the middle of a row. I'm pretty excited to try this and see which one I'd prefer later on. Thank you for the tutorial!

I love this video I all ways heard you can pull the two ends tightly and you could not see the the knot or where you joined !You are fabulous. Thanks so much!!

I always use this on single ply wool when knitting shawls and it is strong and not obviously noticeable even on very thin wool. Didn't realise it was called the Russian join.

I love the Russian join, that and the spit splice are my favorite especially with stockinette!

I'm a new knitter and am struggling with adding a ball of yarn. Just attempted it for a second time and still not happy. Then I found your video tutorial just now and I like this. I'm definitely going to try this technique. My yarn is quite bulky so not sure how it will work out. Anyway thanks for a really nicely presented video. I'll be watching you again!

THIS IS AWESOME! I'm new to this knitting adventure and I was thinking to myself why are people teaching how to join yarns in such a YUCKY (for the lack of a better term) way. This is what makes sense to me 100% ! I'm now subbing and hope you have knitting for beginners! Thanx a bunch!

I love this. I can’t even see where the join is. This is a keeper.
@nancyholm16186 жыл бұрын
Thank you I've been looking for a join that was more secure, but was less intrusive. I had seen where a man knitter had taken one skein end then weaved it through the end of the other skein end. Which didn't seem as secure as the Russian connect. Thanks again I will try this.

I thank you I need to join a new ball of wool for the socks i am knitting,not sure if I have chosen the right wool as it is 100%wool but does not feel very soft,I am just teaching my self to knit socks.
@PurlTogether6 жыл бұрын
For sock knitting, I like to choose yarn that has some nylon content for durability. At the very least, you'll want to be sure the yarn you've chosen is "superwash" so that it won't felt when you launder it.

i cannot wait to try this method of joining yarn, but i do have a question ..... what becomes of the "loops", do you draw them up tight? or leave them? thank you, and thanks for showing us this Russian j0in!
@PurlTogether5 жыл бұрын
I just leave them. They double over on themselves and meld into the knitting. I don't even notice them.
@sudavichester31045 жыл бұрын
@@PurlTogether Thank you for the info! They just seemed to be such large loops. I had just added a new skein 4 rows before seeing this video.... Wish I had caught it sooner.

How do you knit a cable stitch
@PurlTogether6 жыл бұрын
Thats a great idea for a Needle Tip video! To answer your question however, you just slip the number of stitches indicated by your pattern off on a cable needle and either hold it them to the front or the back of your work (depending upon the type of cable you're creating) Then you work the next few stitches, then work the ones on the cable needle. The exact number of stitches and how you hold the cable needle are determined by the size of the cable you want, the style of cable you're making and the direction of the twist.
