Many MNC's in the US & PRC hv dismissed thousands of their tech personnel. Like I said, SGP faces the problem of NOT being cost effective in its policies eg. the TT tokens which not only did NOT prove its benefits, but cost, in my estimate, over $qoo million which I believe Li Hongyi was somewhat responsible. Any wonder why its is now being completely discarded?

yea this news is juicy and there are some implications. These massive cost cutting exercises of a enterprise , together with several other private sector mass layoffs retrenchment is a sign of a regional trend, which the mass media has not been updating the public. and that is due to China at some point in time started to get hostile with USA, resulting in western capitalists pull out from China manufacturing. which in turn cause a chain reaction. China Property sector collapse. While it seems like Singapore economy was not affected last year. Could it be we will see an effect now on ? Could it be the reason the government is trying hard to shave cost? while at the same time massively bleeding money from money-losing ventures or global projects ??? If the gov is giving money to us freely, cannot be the economy is affected right ? But why are enterprises cutting staff so frenziedly. Is AI killing jobs ? That even programmers have to be made jobless ? btw, AI will doom mankind. LiHongyi seems like a good boss, didn't overtax staff and has pride in his work in maintaining security. I know one software programming manager who is no substance one. Only ask the junior staff to do. The product of the keng culture in the army. Such people when they fuxkup they simply change new job and manage to build a resume in the process. They simply get pass the interviews and they get the job as manager and then ask the geek junior programmers to do the job. I trust LiHongyi is not such persons. They truly can program one but they are at mid-managerial positions now facing some other senior managers. The software sector is dominated by Indians. Which has indian Universities churning out programmers by the hordes. That's why the scam tech in India is enormous. It is really surprising when the Lee scion puts out a news like this. and there are people saying so and so make Singapore lose face ! Even the son of the right side also face problems at work. I believe there is a big problem somewhere along the line regarding sustainability. I think a massive review of the systems is needed. Streamline operations across all government departments, because if the economy is indeed going down a cliff, at least we can save some cost.

Isn't this how Government keeps pushing back on retirement t age, on the grounds that the older workers can still work? It's because they need to squeeze every last drop of blood from them, while pushing back their retirement benefits, so the retirement money can be spent on Government projects first.

UNfortunately people who make comments about upper management having e.g. high airy-fairy expectations are the ones who are not in upper management and have no idea what it is like to be there. I dont work for the government but have been in high regional positions for huge US MNCs. I started my career having similar feelings about upper management until I got there. The role of upper management is different from the rank and file. I suggest you hold your comments until you are there. Then, you will understand it better.
