This would've been a happy ending even if it wasn't the apocalypse. Spending 20 years with the love of your life, growing old with them, and going out in each others' arms? That's the dream even in a utopia, but to get it after it's all burned down? That's as close as anyone can ever get to "winning" at life.

This love story wouldn't have fit in the game at all, having to push Frank around his wheelchair with your left joystick and press X to pick up strawberry to eat it. When i first heard bill sing "long long time" i was touched such much and knew that the writers knew what they were doing with character arks even though we only knew frank in the game for his suicide and his mean letter to bill but here they showed us that even when when the world and all hope is lost you can find redemption and happiness not just in yourself but in others. I pitty people who judge people by looks because they will never truly understand anything beyond what they see with their own 2 eyes. The episode was not what i thought it would be. It far better than i expected it took my breath away how real they show relationships and sacrifice. Relationships have ups and downs but in the end its the 2 of you against the problem not against each other and bill and frank both realized that. In the end they saw eye to eye on their situation and bill learned something about himself when you hear him singing he sounds scared or sad to love someone for a long time but he learned that he would rather die with his husband and life partner than to live without him because their home was for both of them and it would probably hurt bill to see everything they did together while frank is gone. EDITED: even bill learned to consider joel as a friend and trustworthy man and when bill thought he was done for he wanted joel to be the one to take care of frank because frank and showed bill that friends are needed and not everyone is a bad person. He cared enough for joel that he didnt want him to come into the room ( but that might also be because bill wants that to be their final resting spot and doesn't want to be split up from frank even after death. Im a huge movie/tv fan i enjoy the cinematography but more importantly i love the small details that make a bigger picture for a episode or scene.

That was one of THE most beautiful, emotional TV episodes I have ever watched. We get to hear Bill & Frank's story and it is equally heartbreaking and aspirational. Bill was gay in the game but we never really got to know much about his relationship with Frank. I am honestly touched by the way the vast majority of people have reacted to this episode. People saying things like "my boomer dad was crying for 10 minutes after the show was over" truly blows my mind. This is a love story. A story of hope. And eventually a story of loss. Their sexuality does not represent who they are. Their love for each other does. When the episode was over, my husband and I didn't talk at all because we knew we would be a trainwreck. There was nothing to be said. Congratulations to HBO, Playstation and Naughty Dog for giving us the representation we deserve. PS: As a kid, I was OBSESSED with Linda Ronstadt. So listening to her song, watching this episode with my husband 32 years later I realized that I've come a long way. Life is good ❤️

I watched this episode with my parents, who were just like "ick, so unnatural." and the whole time I was just waiting for joel and ellie. So I've had to re-watch it on my own to get the true beauty of the episode. But I get why they did this, from an adaptations point of view. In the games, Bill is never shown or mentioned again so its an unresolved plot line. There wasn't much of Bill in the beginning, but they took what there was and used it to make something beautiful. Since Joel and Ellie end up in Jackson towards the end, there's no reason for them to see Bill and Frank again later down the line. Though their deaths do close the possibility of ever seeing them again, and I think killing them off in the same episode they were introduced was kinda uncalled for. But it does change the perspective on an apocalypse. On another note, how the hell did they have toilet paper?
