My parents took me to visit family in Ok. when I was 10yrs old from California. I had spent a lot of time with a BB gun as a kid. An uncle we visited has a marlin 39a and was plinking off the back porch, he asked me if I could shoot, I nodded. He put a shiny new penny roughly 100 foot away on a tree, my first shot was slightly off center but went clean thru Lincolns head (headshot, pure luck), I'm 54 and still have the penny, that Christmas was a new 39a under the Christmas tree, best gift ever, thanks mom and dad. Great video guys, loved the story brother

Grew up shooting 22lr’s of course. Had a shooting buddy that did silhouette matches. He had a kimber bolt 22lr that i loved so much i had to track something similar down. The cz455 had just came out and everything else was out of my $$ range or to cheap. I bought the 455 and had never even seen one. Got the same scope my buddy used and a yo daves trigger kit. My cz was about 97% of his kimber for half the money. This made me a rimfire and a CZ lover for life. I now own several more cz’s and about to get a 457. Great video, great shooting and looked like a awesome day with a buddy!

My first 22 rifle was a J C Higgins, bought from I think a Sears store. A friend told me they were made by Winchester, tube fed bolt action. Received it for Christmas when I was 11 years old. Still own it. Use to hunt rabbit and, Quail in the eastern Mojave Desert of California. Was probably the best Christmas present I ever received, I was so excited. My mom tried to talk my dad out of buying it for me but, he did it anyway. I'm so glad that he did ! I sure hope KZbin allows your channels to continue.

I started with my first rimfire Rem 572 in 1968. I was 12, I bought the gun new and still have it. During the recession in the 80's I hunted rabbits and sold them for $2 cleaned and ready, to neighbors. Most I ever killed in one day was 11. Was on welfare and cash made it so you could buy toilet paper. Also got a few deer with a flashlight, at night. Even shot and stunned fish swimming in the local creek. You did what you had to to survive. I follow both Josh and Chris. Both have excellent content. I think Chris has a job but wonder about Josh...LOL

That was fun to watch! I started loving rimfire at the Boy Scout Camp range, shooting 10/22's with range ammo and iron sites. So much fun! We lived in the city, so that was the only place we had a chance to go. I currently compete with my buddy at the range for ice cream. I bring 2 CZ's and we shoot the same lot of ammo. He's getting better, but I really like ice cream. So I swap ammo for ice cream. It is all good! Josh needs a MWLR t-shirt for his win. Just saying Chris.

I got into shooting when I was a pre-teen with a Red Ryder and then a break open pellet gun. I would save up my allowance and buy pellets and bb's. Then I joined the military and shot a variety of weapons and became a Small Arms Instructor. Then I worked at a prison for a dozen years and was on the SWAT team. But what really got me hooked on rimfire shooting was when I moved to Idaho. There are ground squirrels here by the ton. I had a Ruger 10/22 that I took out, but it didn't have a scope. It was time to figure out how to use a scope. For some reason I wanted a bolt action rifle so I bought a Marlin 25N and put the scope on that. My favorite 22 rifle for many years ended up being a Norinco JW-15 with a 3-9x40 scope on it. My daughter and her husband now have that rifle and it still is a tack driver. My friend got me into silhouette so I got a S&W 22A and put a pistol scope on it. Then over the years I went to a Henry lever and a peep sight. Then I took my son to a 22 NRL shoot and my pursuit of accuracy really kicked in. I am old now, and never really was a contender for competing, but I always had fun. I have a few rifles that really continue to make things fun...Bergara B14R, CZ 455 Trainer, Tikka T1X, and a Savage BRJ. A real passion that I have grown is building Ruger 10/22's. So many fun options to put together and when I'm done, there is always somebody wanting to buy them off of me; and I use the money to start a new one. Keep up the great videos!

I purchased my first 22-caliber LR bolt action rifle after watching your videos, the 10-22 still sits in the corner garage. The cheap rifle Ruger American Predator Rim fire 18" barrel; no competition for me just for fun gun. I am 71 Additionally: I have a Vortex PST 5-25X50MM PRS reticle mounted on nothing, If I received some funds I may buy Bergara B14r. Update: No Bergara B14, but the Tikka T1x 18” barrel my cost $649, Bergara $1000.

Oh yes My granpa showed me how to split fire wood with an axe. With a double headed axe you swing and just before you hit the wood you roll the axe just slightly and with straight grain wood the axe will flop over and the axe will throw the the piece of wood about 10 feet. when I was in my 50s`I could split 2 rick of wood in an hour and I would have to set down and rest. If it was straight grained I could split any diameter wood you could come up with. I did it in the mountain on wood logs over 30 inches in diameter. At almost 70 I would be lucky if I could split one log now. My brother and I bought one of the first color TV`s in the sixty at 5 dollars a rick. He had to have a hydraulic and Dad built him one but people would be amazed at the mound of wood we had piled up. You couldn`t put it into a 20x20 room because we had it stacked to high. Those were the days then my dad said if I had know I wouldn`t have dozed out so many trees.
@richardmattix53222 жыл бұрын
Wow Josh I had about the same thing except my brother and I started with pellet guns my Sheridan and his Crossman. Dad always made sure he got the best of everything. We got 22`s when we couls afford them because ever at 25 cents a box mom had to save to get some. I got a Mosberg brother got one of the first 10/22`s. When I was in my 50`s I had my BACK OPERATED ON AND A TITANIUM ROD PUT IN after many years of bouncing on a backhoe and I drove my pickup into the woods and set and nap then when I would wake up I shot squirrels. I got to where I was shooting about 20 in 2 hours in my dads pecan orchard and he said one day after 30 years of tell your going to kill them all off to saying eagles, coyote, bobcats, and foxes have to eat to so I always picked them up and he ate the young ones and I laid out the old ones and no matter where I put them they were always gone the next day. I did that every day from june to november and in 2 hours I could do the same and after that all the neighboring orchard wanted me to clean out their squirrels and I did it on my own gas and bullets and after a year they all where smilling because they rarely saw something they use to see 20 or 30 anytime the went into their orchard. If you ever went into a pecan orchard you can understand the amount of squirrels I thinned out. They will come back in time.

A 5mm Sheridan Silver Streak? That was my pellet gun as a kid, and I still have it. Unfortunately the seals went out on it, 30 or 40 years ago, but that thing was deadly in its day. Six to seven pumps and it was good out to about 50 yards. Still have a yellow box of pellets for it.

I'd try 5 dogs shooting range in Bakersfield. I used to compete in sporting clays events and that was one of the ranges we shot at. Rim Fire and most any type of shooting events are way bigger in the midwest and other places. Can't get a kid off the computer long enough to get envolved. Our club has a Tuesday night youth league for $5 we supply the ammo and rifles (3k Anschutz Rifles mind you) and we get maybe 2-3 kids to shoot. i have been seeing and bidding on lots of club rifles for sale on GB because of lack of use. very very sad to see that.

My Son got married last weekend and all the relatives were in town and since i live about 1 mile from the range everyone hit me up to shoot and my Brother in Laws daughter had never shot before. So I loaded up a .22 Browning Buckmark pistol and a Anschutz 54 and a Walther UIT match and my rebarreled Bergara. His daughter took the shooting like a duck to water and has a big time as well as the other kids. The Bro in law said he had no idea a .22 could be so accurate at 50 and 100 yards and he needed to revisit RF shooting my Niece wants me to build here a .22 now. She want's one that looks like one of my F class rifles. we weren't even shooting match ammo i took a brick of Norma Tac and let them have at it. it really does shoot surprisingly well for the cost and at 50 yards it shoots better than Tenex and Eley Match in 3. of my rifles and a pistol.
