I don’t know why this podcast interview came up in my recommended video list but I am grateful. I just wish I could give it more likes so that it pushes the KZbin algorithm to give it a wider audience. Eddin is just brilliant, a national asset, like his father who I had the honour to meet with and discuss my family history. He is, as he says in this podcast, his father’s son. A great chip of the old block! Eddin seems to have all the right qualities to be a valuable, valid and rational voice of reason to speak about the reality of the Malaysian experiment. So many things he said in the podcast rings with me that I hope I can meet up with him.

Kay Kim was my friend. When I worked in OUP I got his Masters Thesis published. His office mate was Rollins Bonney, and I got his thesis published too. Those days Eddin was still in courtship stage!!! Good to meet him this way!!!

Great to hear from Eddin who has worked tirelessly. Love the historical education and how rich and diverse our cultural background is. It’s so important to honour this so as we move forward as a collective with compassion and inclusion and pride for all. “Im more Malay more than anything” love it. We should all have the right to call a culture we love our own. Lovely.

Agreed more Dialogues and Debate about the reality about our Malaysia History. Those days we study "Sejarah in school about Malay Hero (Hang Tuah,Hang Jebat,Kasturi and Lekir.) Suddenly disappeared from school subject of "Sejarah". Tq Guys To bring up this Topic in this Podcast with big Salute. Malaysian deserve the Truth about our History and pure Education. Eddin's my age but this is the first time i heard of him, and he did not disappoint. More articulate than his late great dad. Good use of my 100 minutes today. I have always admired the beauty, gentleness and sophistication of the Malay arts, food, fashion, pantuns, sajak, syair and if you allow me to indulge - women🙂 It is sad that many of them are hell bent of destroying everything to be more like Arabs. It is a downgrade in every sense in my opinion, no disrespect to my middle eastern brethren.

Very interesting and an eye opener topic. Good for the younger generation. Keep it up. Eddin and team should be recognized and awarded for their effort. Hsu Chuang, you mentioned you talk to many intelligent people in your podcast so it's highly logical and structural discussion. How about talking to a layman who may have a different perspective. It would be interesting to see a possible broad difference in opinion.

We also need to include proper chapter on world history especially on different civilization in our Sejarah book so we at least get to learn the complete overview of human civilization, currently it is focus only on Malaysia & Islamic history, it actually turn us into low self esteem katak bawah tempurung the moment we go overseas because we do not understand others. When you don't even understand others, how do you even sell your own cultures and ideas to others? It's like going into a market blindly without understanding your demographics, meaning we can't compete on the world stage. Without education of the world history, metaphorically speaking it's like talking about space travel without learning the orbit of earth, moon, and sun. We are not a superpower like US who can choose to be ignorant of other cultures and geography, we are a small nation where foreign investment is key to our survival, even the good old Melaka Kingdom only thrive because it is a busy port.

It’s funny that the host asked the question on Eddins authority to comment on Malay culture when we’re Malaysians.. it’s a stupid yet relevant question, which is probably the reason why the nation is divided. Which is always what the West wants.. just like how Israel loves Palestine being divided.

Agree with Eddin but for some and now more of us whose families have sacrificed and hoped for a change that may not come ,they are not sitting around anymore . It is painful to see our children leave , leaving us lonely here but other countries are willing to appreciate them more now . They have changed but we are still hoping .. we are too sclerotic to change

National Narrative of History ? As a Kelantanese , may I say , on behalf of many of us, we DON'T have a persuasion for it ! Our identification with the port cities of the Gulf of Siam Crescent is more powerful that our identification as a citizen of a cobbles post- 1909 Federation.

All ideologies are idiotic, whether religious or political, for it is conceptual thinking, the conceptual word, which has so unfortunately divided man The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes *our life in harmony with all existence*. The most important *lesson* that man can learn from life, is not that there is *pain* in this world, but that it is possible for him to transmute it into *joy*

Kelantanise are people with darker skin color than other Malays. Because they are Negritos Polynesian race (Not mentioned in the Video) My Observation - Indonesian look more Chinese . In Malaysia the Malays look more Indian and Chinese too. Historically, the Malay - Indian Mix (Tun Dr M) or the Malay Arab Indian Mix was not evident. PAS is an ideology stemmed in Shariah. The Thai are quire separate and slowly insignificant politically. The Portuguese, Dutch and British colonisers did not marry Malays but with Chinese (some). Eurasians in Malaysia are Chinese Mix. The Malay Community are diverse as the Malay Culture itself. Today, PAS Politics has permeated into Malay Mindset. As a Malay who he is. He/She will say I am a Muslim First and Malay Second. The Malay Culture has taken a back seat. Enter Eddin Khoo, who is researching and preserving the Malay Culture (hahaha) Eddin is WRONG, the Indigenous Culture is NOT derived from the Orang Asli. I gave UP listening to the PodCast.

This Peninsular was ruled by.Siam Thailand amd Temasek was ruled by Temagii a relative of King Sam. Temagi is not Malay. Thle Malays have no way to enter into the Peninsular due to Siam control. Parameswara after running away from Palembang because of trying to seize throne escaped to Temasek. He was accepted kindly by Temagii to seek refuge but however Parameswara killed him. He fled after Siam gave chase. Parameswara because a Pirate that terrorised the Straits of Melaka. Emperor Ming is the one that build Melaka City Port and send soldiers to protect the city Port. Parameswara was elected as an officer before being given the King Of Melaka role out of the disappointment of Siam King. That is when the Malays start to migrated North and slowly replaced the Siam towns to become Malay town. This explain why Sultan have to pay Ufti as Land Rentals to Siam King. So in Malay history, the first Sultan is Parameswara of 1400 and Kedh at the 19th century. The history of Malay Is very young. That also explained the small population of 4 million Malays in 1957. They are migrants too. If truly they are natives then the population must be around 60 to 70 million by now
