Since you didnt see the first film: Kitty Softpaws was a housecat, she did normal cat stuff but her owners didnt like that so they extracted her claws from the root. She escaped and became a master thief, without any claws her paws became so soft she can steal stuff from a person without them noticing

It's probably just me but I think Kitty lied about not showing up to the wedding either just to spare Puss' feelings. Because she acted very angry in the beginning and was now nonchalant about it after she heard his conversation with Perrito.

Death (aka The Wolf or Lobo) is without a doubt one of DreamWorks best but also terrifying antagonists in years and Wagner Moura, a Brazilian actor who is best known Pablo Escobar in _Narcos_ really knocks it out of the park. Interestingly despite his actions in the film Death is by no means a villain as he has a sense of honor and nobility, along with being a force of nature, as his main reason for pursuing Puss in the first place was to punish him for arrogantly squandering his eight lives with reckless abandon, concluding from this that it would be best to kill him before he wasted his final life. 🐺🐺 Another thing to note is that before Puss in Boots meets him at the bar, Death appears in a blink-and-you-miss moment when Puss was battling the Giant where he was in a slight dark corner and compared to the Crowd he was not cheering for Puss but watching him to see if he gets killed and hints of him of his wolf head and sickles were seen on the edges of Puss' death card numbers. Finally, Death's quote in Spanish when he was defeated by Puss: _"¿POR QUE DIABLOS FUI A JUGAR CON MI COMIDA?!?"_ translates to _"WHY THE HELL DID I PLAY WITH MY FOOD?!?"_ in English.

Also in the cavern where Puss encounters the wolf again and realizes what he is, "You are no bounty hunter. You are..." and the wolf responds, "Death," the cracks in the crystal for a brief moment form the outline of a wolf skull around his face before shattering.

he's still a villian. even if his reasoning comes from a place of coherent personal values, it doesn't make taking puss's life by force good. villians can think what they are doing is right.

@@lockwouldYT That's just it; Death isn't taking Puss' life for villainous reasons; Death takes life when someone's life is up. That's why he exists. But in this case, his purpose was similar to the Ghost of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol, and be the terrifying wake up call the main character needed to change his ways. Death can't be beaten (unless you're Jesus) he could have continued until Puss died from exhaustion or suffered a mortal injury. When he saw that Puss had learned his lesson and found value in his remaining life, he let him go. Death comes best when you have lived a full life.

@@lockwouldYT He doesn't think what he's doing is right, what he's doing IS right. He is Death, death is not the villain of the story, it's just a part of it, and that part is the end, as important as the beginning or the middle, if not more.

Big Jack Horner's depiction in the movie is weirdly fitting. As the nursery rhyme "Little Jack Horner" was allegedly written to mock the real-life Thomas Horner, who was, according to the history books, a greedy, lying, swindling land dealer.

One character I really love in this movie is Perrito. His backstory is so horrible and sad, yet he still has so much optimism, appreciates all the good things in life, and just wants to help people. He's a perfect foil to Puss and Kitty who helps them both overcome their problems. We could all learn a thing or two from Perrito.
@andrewblissett2211
@andrewblissett2211 Жыл бұрын
Yes, and that's why I absolutely hate it when people just look at him with shallow eyes and call him annoying because they don't understand the deeper layers of what's being portrayed here. He's a symbol for unbridled optimism even from the worst of places. No matter what situation he's in, he never looks at the bad and always strives to find the light even in the darkest places with an upbeat and positive attitude...and I think there's something very beautiful about that. Too many people these days have pessimistic and negative views on life and where they are in it, but that's exactly why I think this character is brilliant, especially in today's society. He's a shining example of what we should all strive to be like, and I think he's a great roll model for the target audience. I love Perrito so freaking much for that.

Fun fact: A Baker's dozen is actually _thirteen_ . So we saw one guy die, (and assumed no one else died in the Posies) then Goldie and later the Bears threw one of his men at Jack while threatening another, we can assume that there were at most ten present at the first meeting between Jack and Team Friendship at the River of Relaxation battle.

It lines up perfectly if you only count (relatively) explicit, on-screen deaths: 13 to start with, -1 at the posies, 12 left, -3 from unicorn horn crossfire, 9 left, -8 at the 'bridge', 1 left, -1 at the star. (bonus - when he says "can't bake a pie without losing a dozen men" he has lost precisely 12 men - a dozen, out of the original baker's dozen.)

The best moments that touch to the core: 1. The Puss said that he had never been touched by blade. Death is the first to wound him. This is both a metaphor and another indicator of how much more serious things have become. 2. When a Wolf puts coins on his eyes, this is an obvious reference to Charon and many other burial traditions. 3. The fact that the mother bear is ready to do everything for the sake of the desire of the Goldie, even though she wants another family for herself... I melted.

I do like how the film didn't ignore the first despite its different directions. For example, the "oooh" cat that is a running gag in the first one makes a cameo in mama luna's house, and you can see the scene in which the owner of the orphanage Puss grew up in giving him the boots when his life flashes before his eyes.

You’ve never heard of the nursery rhyme Little Jack Horner? It was taught since kindergarten. Little Jack Horner sat on the corner, eating his Christmas pie. He stuck his thumb and pulled out a plum, and said, “What a good boy am I.”. Which makes it even more ironic that he’s portrayed here as a big fat evil dude. I also love how like he lost his fame due to Pinocchio, which is more ironic, since Pinocchio has been shown three times this year in different versions.

_Puss in Boots: The Last Wish_ is hands down is one of the best animated films and joins alongside _The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, Top Gun: Maverick, The Godfather: Part II_ and _Shrek 2_ where the sequel is better than the first film. But without a doubt the highlight of the film wasn’t the story, or it’s voice acting from the cast (Antonio Banderas, Harvey Guillén, Salma Hayak, Florence Pugh, Ray Winstone, Olivia Colman, John Mulaney and Wagner Moura) but the animation as compared to the first Puss in Boots film this gives off a 2D cel shaded look very reminiscent to the visuals seen in _Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse_ and _Arcane_ especially the former as the filmmaker for this film cite Spider-Verse for the visuals in _The Last Wish_ especially during the fight scenes where the animation is drawn in twos.

This movie is simply spectacular. It has gorgeous animation, top notch fight choreography, great characters, a great arc for Puss, and one of if not the best DreamWorks antagonists ever. I like how, at the start, Puss was bragging about having "never been touched by a blade." So the moment Death was actually able to cut him, Puss became a scared, anxious mess. It's the moment he realized he's not invincible after all.

This film has a beautiful aesthetic, kinetic, zippy camerawork that accommodates the measurable pace and sturdy editing and an equitable tone that may not push the boundaries of a PG movie but it is still fairly solid ground for both adults and kids to circle on. Not a single character is wasted nor a single scene expendable, this is the first time I’ve laughed hard at a Shrek movie since the FIRST TWO and the less I talk about the impressionistic animation and art design, the better. Every single hand-painted, prismatic split frame, elaborate eye-popping visual of this movie only adds to its suave and darker sides; I’m practically drunk off this type of animation now. Compared to the journey and morals of the first movie, this story handles both of those really maturely and the writing is incredibly tight from the offset. Despite the video-game-suggestive plot construction, there‘s variety in the quest that allows for individual character dissections along the way, not to mention its messages on self-loathing and loneliness, valuing what’s most important, not running from past trauma and coming to grips with your mortality are another in the long list of recycled themes executed well. All of these are intangible and are conveyed alongside understandable motives and believable stakes for the worldbuilding presented to us. Dialogue and messages are pretty standard stuff but solid execution nonetheless.

Fun fact about Death; His whistle is inspired by El Silbòn(The Whistler), a spirit from colombian and venezuelan folklore. He appears as a long-limbed, walking corpse, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and carrying a sack with the bones of his father and victims inside, and he mostly kills drunkards, womanizers, and abusers(for personal reasons in the colombian version of the story). If you hear his whistle at night, and it sounds like he's nearby, he'll leave you alone. But if the whistle sounds like it's far away, chances are he's standing right behind you.

Funny thing about the art work is that a lot of people are saying it reminded them of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. But all in all the movie was absolutely amazing and Lobo/Death was the best antagonist that, to me, stole the show

Puss met Kitty in the first movie. Not sure if you have seen the first Puss in boots movie. They sorta stablished why Puss is being wanted. Both are great movies, but i do love this one more. The last wish was "CHEF KISS" PERFECTTT. ALSO FAR FAR AWAY... That's where SHREK lives!! they're just hinting upcoming films!

I don't think she has reacted to the first film (Puss In Boots), but TimotheeReacts did. However, neither TimotheeReacts nor ANGELINA have reacted to the other Shrek films, _Shrek the Third_ and _Shrek Forever After_ following their Shrek 2 reaction in December of 2021, so they need a lot of catching up to do in order to be caught up with the Shrek film series.

Katie was in the 1st Pussen In Boots and Katie and Puss had some real chemistry. By the way I’m 10 and I think you are really funny. I watch you a lot (I watch the Harry Potter Comentary a million times. I’m a Harry Potter fan.) 👍

The thing that I love the absolute most about this film is how they depict the difference between and antagonist and a villain. Lobo, while he's terrifying, his only real gripe with Puss is how he disrespects and disregards life, and when he finally learned his lesson, Lobo leaves him be. Because Death isn't evil, it's just a fact of life. Meanwhile, Little Jack Horner is just an awful selfish jerk who doesn't care about anyone. People forget that those two terms are synonymous, when they're not. Just an awesome film all around with great writing and animation :)

The ending is a teaser for Shrek 5, slated for a 2024 release, by the same director. And hopefully, the same art style as there are so many more things you can get away with stylised animation compared to realistic-looking animation.

Tai Lung: master of ferocity. He knows how to be imposing and relentless. Shen: master of the mind. A skilled orator, and able to make the most mundane of symbols traumatizing. Kai: master of the dramatic entrance and scary approach. Uses spinning sparking weapons to his psychological advantage, but does have a goofy side that loves a good legend. Combine every Kung Fu Panda film villain together, and you get Death.

I hope they do the next Shrek movie with the same animation style. I was convinced that Shrek was done for good but this really rejuvenated the spirit. Shrek is love. Shrek is life.

Something I noticed was that everyone that wanted a wish told someone else their respective wish. The wishing star works off of birthday wish rules (meaning u can’t tell anyone your wish or it won’t come true). In the end no one got their wish, which is a good connection to the lesson of the movie.

Fun fact: the story of Pinocchio released around the same time the Jack Horner rhyme was made, stealing the spotlight from the latter. So the movie wasn't wrong about Pinocchio stealing the show from Jack.
