I've been trying to educate westerners on this. In Russia there is no such thing as a fair bargain. No such thing as a fair contract. The only fair contract, or bargain, is one achieved when you have leverage on somebody else. There is no such concept as fair play. It's all about who has leverage, who has strength and power over somebody else. This goes down all the way into and includes personal relationships. Obviously there are individuals who are not this way, but understand this, it is so prevalent within the culture, and violence is also prevalent within the culture, so much so, that the individuals who are not this way are the exception not the rule

My first observation is that there were hardly any young people at all, whole towns almost completely depopulated. The question I asked always was why did you not leave and the answer was always the same - where to and how would I pay for it and this is my home. The only person I have ever spoken to who had anything remotely positive to say about the enemy was one person in Bucha and that was in May of last year who said that an officer had warned them in a caring way to get out before the really nasty people turned up.

Let’s not forget that during WWII countries like France and Norway had collaborationist governments with Germany and Italy was an ally yet no one beats up on those countries for their history. Ukrainians at various times fought both Nazis and Soviets and Ukraine lost eight million people during that war.

It's politics NATO has to pretend that it's happy families among it's members it's a lie we all know it but will go along with it until it becomes impossible

Wasn't France and Norway were conquered and occupied by Germans, so I don't know how much choice they had. So I can understand that they aren't blamed. Italy and Mussolini was an clear ally. Russians do like to forget that their leader Stalin collaborated with Nazis and are much to blame that ww2 ever started and escalated as much as it did. The fact that pact later fell through does not make Russians blameless or faultless victims.

@@SorbusAucubaria the fact that Stalin and Beria was a Georgian is conveniently forgotten by many of those who loathe them and what they stood for

Truth to the Russian people is what is needed. Truth is often painful, but it must be administered and swallowed. Thank you for your work.

They are fresh, but can be sumarized to: _Why didn't we listen to the Estonians, the Latvians and the Lithuanians, who had more experience of the Russians than anyone in the old NATO-countries?_

What defeat? Did the Russians leave Ukraine? If I was Ukrainian I would expect this war to go on for several more years.

Even Russians with college degrees have very spotty knowledge of their history. I dated a girl who had lived in the city where the Largest nuclear bomb was detonated and she had no knowledge of it. She proudly showed me the mosaics in the Moscow subway while forgetting the millions of Ukrainians who bleed and died to fulfill Stalins plan.

Great program, thanks. Here in the US we usually don't get any real insight of the war on the ground, let alone scholarly discussion of history and active research, mostly just opinion pieces or an over-emphasis on the warfighting/weapons. We need to understand the war from multiple perspectives and its broader background, the psychologies of the Russians vs. Ukrainians, the roots and use of propaganda, etc. This takes the veil off in a lot of ways.

Right! Russia deserves disintegration into its captive nationalities. Send ethnic Russians to the front!
