Both had had the opportunity to flee and live abroad, in a relatively safer habitat. They chose to stay in Russia and struggle against all odds, risking their lives, suffering from various menaces, terror, direct poisoning attempts. They deserve our greatest respect. One of the top priorities of the int. community must be their immediate and non-negotiable liberation.

my both great grandparents died in gulag under stalin regime. My granfather was a boy in gulag and had to see their parents dying... After this army supervising gulag allowed for my grandfather to be adopted by a Russian family at age 10, once he reached adulthood he moved out of Russia to his home country. I spent much time with my grandfather and he never ever spoke about this with me (story was told to me after grandfather died by my grandmother) One time he told me that the family that adopted him was very loving and I know for a fact that he would commonly travel ~3000km to visit this family.
